Perfect stop for beer and bar food after work. The patio counters make it great for people-watching too! Our server was either high or drunk but she was still kind and easy to work with. Friendly and casual ambience for happy hour. Will be back! -AT

We stopped in here twice, once on Saturday looking for a spot to watch the game (March Madness) but there was no room for us. It was very lively and festive inside, made me want to come back. We came back again on Sunday night around 9pm, it was dead in there, a few people at the bar and 2 other tables had people at there, plus us. There was a musty smell inside, not sure if it always smells that way. The drinks were fine, the service was fine. I loved how decorated and fun looking the decor was to me.

This is a pretty awesome place. Cool location, foods good. Service is good. Cool looking place. Actually the overall atmosphere is awesome. The only thing keeping it from a 5 is the price. It's an expensive place, and I realize it's river north. But there no need to be so pricey, so just be prepared to spend a few extra bucks!

I remember coming here in my 20s, and it's still great for those in their 20s. Friend of a friend wanted to go here, and it was a nostalgic return (though this might have been the soberest I've ever been there). It's a staple of the Irish dive bars. Surprisingly, as busy as it was we had an amazing server that braved the crowds at the bar for us. She was the true hero of the night. Thanks for the trip back down memory road.

The place can get very cramped on a Saturday night, though that's to be expected. Butch's is known for their holiday parties and, hey, they have their Christmas shot on the menu all year round.They have a modest tap list for beer, though they're good sized mugs and reasonably priced. I'll give credit to their food, it's actually above typical pub quality, though you'll be sorely mistaken if you're looking for gourmet. Again, the food prices are pretty fair. I see they have a different lighting scheme depending on where you are situated in the bar. At the far end, it's pretty well lit with a lot of string lights and Irish fluff, which was super neat. That's where I ended up finding a table to eat. The other parts were generally dimmer, more along the lines of what you'd expect at any bar. Worth noting that in the men's restroom you relive yourself into a large basin. Brought a tear to me eye as I was reminiscing about my college glory days drunkenly standing next to a bunch of other guys collectively peeing on a target. Objective complete. Anyway, fun times. Fun bar. Would recommend.

This Irish pub is a gem! Their black bean burger was pretty good - cheesy with avocado on top, and fries! Lots of history here too, cool atmosphere. Definitely a spot I'd hit up again for food and drinks

My brother took me to Butch McGuire's as a must-see Christmas bar. It was so fun that I've been back several times, and I've realized it's a great experience for any season! Happy St. Patrick's Day 2024!! Great service and what a fun place be social at this legendary Chicago establishment. Thank you, Steve for getting us a table right from the start. You and the rest of the staff are the best. Food is good (get the grilled cheese with bacon and tomatoes) and wash it down with a few pints of Guinness.

Incredibly fun & festive environment - shocked at how friendly the service staff is for how busy it is! The food was delicious - prime rib sandwich and Reuben sliders and even the hot dog! Kid friendly. Christmas in Your Mouth was a delight!
