I personally don't mind spending the extra few bucks the quality is there no doubt This place is legit I'm not sure what's going on with their ratings I think it's mainly just because of the customer service aspect but Idc. I come here for the food and it's legit I bought the birria fries and it was super good thank you

How do you F up carne asada fries!? Burros and Fries surely knows how!For the first time in my born and raised San Diego 30+ life I can't believe I experienced this. I ordered take out; Large Carne asada fries with sour cream on the side and came to find out when I got home and opened the box there was no carne asada steak in my box. It was just fries, cheese, & guacamole. Holy sh!t Batman! I bring it back with the quickness and showed the cashier. Her solution was to just cook the Carne asada and put it on top of soggy fries that I had to drive back. I told her nope! I want a new order and made correctly; not half-assed. Can't believe the customer service here. *****CAUTION - Check your orders if you do decide to eat here.*****This will be my last time eating at Burro's & Fries. I sure miss having Alvaro's here.

My cousin and I stopped by this place for a quick breakfast burrito before a long drive up north. Located next to the soapy joes. Loved that they had a drive thru! Makes things convenient especially since I'm walking with crutches. The person that helped us through the intercom was nice. They didn't have the burrito I want so they were able to customize it a little bit. I got an eggs, potato, and cheese burrito. They said they don't have potato but it would be fries. Which I'm ok with. When the burrito came out it was massive!!!! Bigger than most burritos I was used to. Decent amount of eggs, fries, to cheese ratio. Each bite had a bit of each in it. The red and green salsa was good but not spicy for me. Not bad for a breakfast burrito. Pretty standard. Tortilla good sized and doesn't get soggy. Soft and light crisp outter layer.I saw my cousin's burrito and he got the big morning double wrapped burrito. And it was no joke!!! It was almost the size of two of their regular sized burritos. If you go for that, definitely need a giant appetite or someone to share that burrito with.

Many will say they miss the ole Alvaro's / Alberto's that used to be here 30+ years ago, but let's be real you stopped going because your taste buds were getting sophisticated as we get older. No longer is about the quantity or size but the quality instead. With today's inflation comes shrink-flation. Burros & Fries actually made this what was once a 24hr drive-thru alive again. Carne asada is tasty with flavor and even though the size or quantity wasn't the same as before the quality and taste has gotten better.

Yes, please. Delicious surf and turf french fries with Carne Asada and seared shrimp, delicious crispy french fries, sour cream, guacamole, and hot sauce for about 10 bucks.I'm not sure what anybody is expecting from this place to result to a two star average but this place is awesome. AWESOME. Awesome. Great, delicious food with average service and below average atmosphere. I'm sure there's plenty of things to complain about but at the end of the day if you want delicious Mexican food at a spot that's not too busy inside the dining room go here on a Friday around 11 AM and GET AFTER IT. I hear the beans are insane but haven't tried them... yet.

Went to Burro's Sat Night to get some beef rolled Taco's , Counter person very nice . got them ordered quickly and they came out quickly , took them home with an assortment of Salsa's For me the Avocado Salsa the best and Habanero if u like Spicy .. Rolled taco are my go to always come out Perfectly cooked not too greasy and crisp ... The only complaint hardly no Guacamole other than that great !!! 9.00 for five

I don't understand why the ratings aren't much higher for this location. I ordered a Hashbrown breakfast burro to go the other day and was very impressed. Super fresh eggs and bacon, plus it was large enough to last a few days (unless you're sharing). 5 stars for the taste, portion, and service. Very friendly staff!

Too corporate! Absolutely not a fan at all!Having grown up in Poway, Alvaro's was a staple to the area of Sabre Springs for many, many years. I have enjoyed Alvaro's food for about 20 years, so I was shocked and admittedly a little upset when I drove through today to find some workers renovating Alvaro's into a Burros and Fries after getting my truck washed this afternoon. Already stuck in the drive thru line, I had no option but to order something. To put it short, I'm done with this place. I gave the Burros and Fries in Escondido more than a fair shot when buying food for my team at work and a few years ago I finally swore them off and for the past couple years have been going elsewhere for team breakfasts and lunches. I'm extremely disappointed that my favorite drive-thru taco shop by my house has now turned into one of my least favorite. I've tried several menu items from Burros and Fries over the years including the California Burrito that I bought today and it has almost all been sub-par quality food for the price. The California burrito I ordered today was about $3 more than the average California burrito that I priced in my area, but had no guacamole on it. I searched California burrito prices from six immediate taco shops in my area and Burros and Fries averages about $2 more expensive than what I was able to find when searching online, but you don't get guac on your burrito. Hello.... California? Avocados? Guacamole is quite literally what makes a California burrito what it is... otherwise it's just a carne asada burrito with fries. As I write this review, I'm finding myself not so much as upset that Alvaro's is gone, but that Burros and Fries is what took over. Just another corporate chain snatching money and cutting corners where they can to increase margins. Just like I've shirked doing business with the Escondido location, I'll avoid this location as well moving forward and give my business to a different local taco shop instead. Fancy signs and menus, doesn't make your food top notch or noteworthy and the product here isn't reflected in the price you pay for it. Glad to see they didn't overcharge me for tax like they did someone else though when they charged them 8.75% though.

I'm done with this place. And I've really tried.I've been through the drive-though about a half dozen times since they opened. They got the order right only about half the time I'd say. (Hey Burros, if you need a better intercom system, just get one!). They charge for absolutely everything like subbing one ingredient for another. You have to ask for salsa or they don't give you any, and when you do they default to the couple worst ones. I didn't even know they had others to offer until my second to last visit. Oh and they refuse to do credit card refunds which is downright absurd. Oh and the fries are soggy and flavorless... Pretty incredible for a place with fries in the name.The gist: the new owners are very cheap and it shows, and they don't care about anything except getting you past the window. Food itself is worse than average for a taco shop. Shame!
