We have been told my some friends this is their favorite restaurant in San Diego, so we had to try it. The outside seating is wonderful, cute and welcoming. The tables and chairs are very close to each other, but it seems like a great spot to have a bigger group. The inside seating wasn't anything special, but it was fun seeing the kitchen in passing. The deep fried bread with cheese and prosciutto was not what we expected, but it was very flavorful. The fettuccine Alfredo was our favorite that we've tried in San Diego. The sauce was so flavorful and perfect. The carbonara was good too and relatively authentic without there being cream. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse which was delicious with the berries on top. Our server was mostly attentive and helpful. We enjoyed everything about this place! It was packed on a Monday and there's street parking.Update 08/06/2024: Hubs and I brought our friend exactly a week later because we enjoyed the pasta so much. We tried the meatballs this time and they weren't anything special and were bland. We also ordered the garlic focaccia and it was ok, but certainly not focaccia at all as it was completely flat. The pasta came out on plates this time and the favor was still delicious. Our service was worse this time around. The hostess and female busser were very considerate, sweet and helpful. The problem was with a male busser and our server. Hubs was in the middle of ordering and our server started walking away? We ordered our appetizers with him and then he came back to take our pasta orders and he was very short and quick with us again. The male busser almost threw our plates down when delivering our food and threw parmesan cheese onto the pasta. I understand that it's a popular place, but the servers and bussers need to slow down and do their job more efficiently. We eat out most nights of the week, so we know what we expect in service and this was disappointing.

This place was way overhyped and not worth the wait. Dont get me started about their service! They checked on every table except my sister's and I. We had to ask things twice whenever we needed anything. In addition, the server had attitude when handling our items...not sure if it was because we were the only Asians there, but he did not welcome or check in on us compared to every white person there...The atmosphere was SOOO loud too (not from the music, from the servers and cooks messing around). I couldn't hear my sister talk at all.Overall, I wouldn't wait here! Tastes like something you can make at home.

Probably one of the worst places for pizza that I've tried in San Diego. I don't often leave reviews, as I'm only compelled to when I need to let others know to avoid somewhere. If I could give zero stars, I would. Unfortunately Yelp forces to give a star even if they don't deserve it, and Buona Fakechetta does not. I heard great things for two years living here and figured I'd try it. Got two of the most popular pies, and was disgusted by what was provided. I'm shocked this place even exists with food like that. You'd be better off getting pizza from anywhere else in the Golden Hill/South Park area. Seriously anywhere. If you are looking for a good pizza, this ain't it chief.

This place is a staple Italian in the neighborhood. Such a great place for a nice date night or to bring the whole family for a birthday. They have seating inside and out with plenty of tables. I really enjoy the pizza and salads. My sister loves their pasta. The servers and everyone that works here is always very friendly and can help you navigate the menu if you've never been. You won't be disappointed in anything you order!

Still one of my favorite Italian/ pizza restaurants in San Diego. The first of many locations, this is one of my favorites for a date night or girls night out. The ambiance is quaint and charming in the middle of South Park. The staff here is always attentive and accommodating. Plus always always always. The food is superb! And delicious!

My first time here I made a reservation on Open Table for a close friends' birthday. It was perfect from start to finish. As the host was walking us to the table she asked whose birthday it was and then I said it was my friend. Our meal was fantastic. We ordered a pizza and custom pasta. The pizza was honestly so good I couldn't stop talking about it after. Right after our meal they brought out a small dessert with a sparkler for my friend. This was a really nice touch and one of the reasons I choose this restaurant to celebrate her special day.I really enjoyed my experience the first time so I decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner the following week. I make a reservation on Open Table and again stated that it was a birthday on the reservation. Similar to the first experience we were seated right away but the host didn't make any mention of a birthday.I got the same pizza as the first time but this time it felt more doughy. All the toppings fell off the slice when we tried to hold it. My boyfriend said he would prefer if it was crispier at the bottom which I would have to agree. However, the lasagna was excellent.I stated on the reservation that it was a birthday but I guess that didn't get communicated like it did the first time. I was expecting them to bring out the dessert after we finished our meal but they just asked if we wanted dessert as if this was a normal dinner. It made me think that they didn't even know it was his birthday. I wanted it to be a surprise but that didn't happen. I was quite disappointed. We ended up just leaving right after and got dessert somewhere else.I can't give them a perfect 5/5 stars because of the miscommunication and the quality of the pizza was much different from the first time I had it.

This place is so good. I rarely eat pizza at restaurants but I decided to try it here. I got the Guilia and it tastes so good. It comes with spicy honey, spicy salami, onion and a few other things. I've been here twice for dine in and takeout. Both times I came it was very busy so I would recommend doing a reservation on weekends. I love the ambiance here, the table I had during dine in was a little bit cramped but nonetheless the decor was nice. The service was great as well. I love the variety on the menu. Their crust is amazing, but I would say the second visit here, the pizza was slightly undercooked. I would want to go here again and try all the other things they have to offer.

In the movie, Moonstruck, the characters all eat at the Grand Ticino. Buona Forchetta South Park is my Grand Ticino! The Italian flavors are so wonderful that the entire menu is delicious. A large wall chalkboard lists the daily specials. Here you'll taste Italian specialities cooked with the know-how passed down through generations. And the prices are reasonable considering the food and service is unmatched. The wood fired pizza oven, named Sofia after the owner's daughter, bakes the best crusts, especially foccachia bread with sea salt & rosemary. I've waited in line just to dip that hot bread in oil seasoned with vinegar.Born in an Italian family, I've eaten spaghetti my whole life. Yet until I tasted the Due Pomodori sauce over spaghetti, I had missed this delight. In a marinara sauce, they saute cherry tomatoes in olive oil with onions, garlic and basil. Add two meatballs to enjoy a better dinner than you could get in Italy. You can't help but love the staff. From the cooks, servers, hosts, and bussers to the managers, they all treat everyone like family. You'll receive expert service from all the waiters. If you're lucky enough to get Cossimo or Giacomo, count on great recommendations and a meal perfectly timed. We appreciate Renato, the manager who welcomes us all. And just like we do with family, we visit often. This is why Buona Forchetta is busy seven nights a week.If you live in San Diego, you must try it. If only so you have a memorable restaurant to take visitors. It will be the highlight of their trip.

Pizza was amazing, pasta was just okay. The crust is very thin and the ingredients are so flavorful. Will absolutely be coming back.

I went here for a dinner with my girlfriends on Saturday so we were expecting it to be pretty busy. However, our party of 6 got seated quite quickly! The restaurant is located in a quaint neighborhood, but the restaurant was very lively with music and chatter everywhere. The waiters were very attentive and the service was extremely fast. The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the eggplant parmigiana and it was by far the best I have ever had. My friends ordered some pasta dishes and a pizza as well and they also raved about how great it was! The desserts were so beautifully plated and of course, great as well! Highly recommend this hidden gem!
