We ordered two things and we were full when we left.Signature Roll - love the gamtae instead of regular seaweed used to wrap the contents. It's really expensive to buy so it's a treat to eat this in a roll. I like that they put a thin layer of rice and more veggies and fish.Ddokboki - they use wheat flour ddok instead of the usual rice flour so it was extra chewy and fun. Usually, it can have that floury smell if done wrong, but it didn't have that. I like the variety of fried sides that come on the side of the bowl. They put a lot of effort into presentation, which is unusual for bunsik-style places. Really cute interior and love the chairs! Will recommend to friends and go back again.

Bunsik is one of the newest Korean restaurant additions on the Eastside. The restaurant is located on the outside of Crossroads Mall. They are known for their fat Kimbap (Korean sushi rolls) but they also serve Korean staple dishes including Tteokbokki (chewy cylindrical rice noodles), Army Stew (mix of Korean and American ingredients such as spam, ramen, Portuguese sausage, and American cheese - basically whatever the soldiers had on them during the Korean War), and Spicy Tofu Soup. Note that the menu is pretty limited (compared to other Korean restaurants like Daeho and Danji), but there are enough dishes to satisfy everyone's palate.I made a reservation for 3 people at 7pm on a Thursday night using Open Table via the Yelp App. To be honest, I probably didn't need to make a reservation as it was basically empty when I had arrived. The interior is super simple and modern- white tile and white walls with some fake greenery and a fake tree trunk for a pop of color. There are about a dozen tables or so. Everything is clean including the bathrooms.Service was great. We got seated right away and got our food within 15 minutes. Our waiter came by to refill our waters multiple time as well. I ordered the Signature Roll which has raw salmon, spicy tuna, egg, daikon, spinach, cucumber, burdock root, red onion, egg, and fish roe. What makes Bunsik's kimbap distinct (besides the raw fish in this roll) is the gamtae seaweed wrapper. Unlike nori, which is smooth and shiny seaweed, gamtae is flakier and fluffier. This was my first time having it and the best way I can describe the texture is like eating a thin layer of grass turf. It wasn't good or bad, just different from your usual seaweed wrapper. The Signature Roll textures and tastes went well together overall filled me up for sure- which is good because this one roll was $20! The spicy tuna in the middle was kind of salty and so I thought that the soy dipping sauce was overkill. I also didn't think the salmon tasted super fresh, but maybe it was just me. Presentation was on point though! My only other complaint about this place is that they don't serve any ban chan (neither complimentary or paid).Overall: 3.5/5 for food, 5/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere

We came here for lunch and loved it! The service is as friendly and warm. The plates are beautiful (see pictures). The special roll would be a big lunch for one, but also great to share. The bibimbap was so good. They added beyond beef which added a savory note to the dish. The sesame rice underneath the veggies was almost too good. My son loved the Army Stew, something he's never heard of before.

Recently came to Bunsik with a group of friends, and had an overall great experience!Coming in about 45 minutes before closing, we felt bad because some of our friends had a hard time finding the spot, and didn't wanna be those people that kept the restaurant open past their hours, but staff were very kind and understanding! I would honestly say that their service was definitely one of the highlights of the meal - they were attentive, friendly, and joked around with us a bunch too. The restaurant itself was bright and clean, you could see the place from far away due to how much it stands out compared to the other businesses in crossroads. In terms of the food, I thought everything was great! My friend and I split the classic Kimbalp and Rose Tteokbokki. The kimbap tasted great, but didn't stand out for me in terms of any other kimbap I've gotten elsewhere, but I personally preferred the tteokbokki more. I love the beef mandu and gimmari that came with the tteokbokki, and the dish itself made for a great dipping sauce for the kimbap.I would say my only complain would definitely be the price - I think the food is good, yes, but I don't think people should ever be paying $12+ for kimbap (or even $20 for the signature), regardless of how big the portions are. The dishes are definitely much pricier than other Korean restaurants I've been to, with the food being of the same quality.

Food: The signature roll and the tuna roll were my favorite. I also got the salmon roll but it was okay to me, not sure if I could see that roll as kimbap. But nonetheless, all the rolls were good in my opinion. The rolls were very large and comes with about 10 pieces each and I would say need two bites to eat. The tteokbokki is a MUST. It has a bunch of delicious items in it and the sauce is so good. Recommend ordering this early as it does take 20 minutes to make so don't be in a rush if you come here and need your food quickly.Service: Staff was attentive and friendly! I would say it's pretty slow just cause of the soft opening. It took us maybe 30-40 mins to get our food and we had to ask them to pack two of our rolls to go since it didn't come out after 20 mins and we needed to leave:Parking and other: Inside was clean and spacious. Very cute interior. There's a free parking lot.

I love that there are so many new Korean spots opening up in the area, with Bunsik being another one. Located in the Crossroads shopping area, Bunsik offers a page full of Korean street eats, like kimbap. My partner and I visited Bunsik on a Friday night and the place was pretty busy, with many people dining inside. The space is large enough and is well-lit, bright and they've modernized it. They even have a sushi bar area where the staff make the kimbap and the kitchen is in the back for the hot food items. My partner and I shared the signature roll, and he ordered the army stew while I had the rose tteokbboki. Even with how busy the place was, we didn't wait long for our food. Staff was very friendly, frequently checked in and filled our water glasses. Of the items we ordered, I liked the signature roll the most. The kimbap was a large portion, so glad we shared this. I loved how much fish there was in the kimbap since seafood is my fav. It tasted fresh and the flavor of the seaweed was good. I would order this again and try other kimbaps here. Although my partner thought the army stew was A-OK, the rose tteokbooki was flavorful and very hearty. This dish is one to share as the portion was huge. I loved the rice cakes throughout in the creamy, cheesy sauce. The dumplings and hot dog that came with were overly cooked. Not bad, but would stick with the kimbap here. I'm glad this is here in Crossroads.

I recently heard of this place and decided to check it out. It is Korean street food with a fancier vibe. Like napkins are in rings, waitress greet you every 5-10 minutes, etc.We orderedArmy stew ($20) -- the flavor was good and there was a mix of things in there but Definitely carb heavy. Tere was ramen rice cakes and a side of rice. Decent sizeCalifornia Kimbap ($12) --- it's literally a California roll with the nori on the outside instead of inside. It's big for the price and the ingredients were pretty fresh. The big critique for me was the wait time. It took almost 20 minutes for food to come out. Overall, it was good, I wouldn't mind trying their other times when I'm in the area

I get the concept but I'm just not sure the value is there. Love that a kimbap place is opening by us. However even though the pieces are bigger than the average h-mart rolls, the whole roll is still less food for double the price. We ordered the signature roll- this one is really unique, love the special seaweed and it was tasty. However we also ordered a tuna mayo kimbap and while they were generous with the tuna, it felt dry and not mayo-y enough. And that one honestly didn't feel much tastier than handmade rolls I've gotten in Lynwood. The oden soup also felt average and really pricey at $28. Yea it's for two people but honestly I could just get a bag of oden and udon at Hmart and cook it at home. Not sure it warrants that high a price. I'd rather they just offer a smaller individual portion honestly. Overall the food is good but the value isn't there. And this is after the 10% soft opening discount. The tteokbokki did look rly tasty so maybe I will order that if I decide to visit again. Service was awesome tho- super friendly. And the decor is rly nice.

This new Korean spot is easy to miss because they're still undergoing the transition from the previous owner, but it's a lovely spot with big portions that would be great to stop by for lunch. Our waitress was extremely sweet and chatted with us about the soft opening, and they're planning on a grand opening sometime in March. I hope they continue their success! The soups here have very clear broth, which can be a hit or miss depending on your tastes. Personally I enjoy a nice thin soup but the boyfriend is the opposite. There's plentiful ingredients in both the tofu and army soups and they come with enough rice to definitely fill you up.Tteokbokki was nice and squishy with fish cakes, little grilled sausages (I love) and beef mandu. The presentation is lovely as you can see!We ordered the classic, signature, and california kimbaps, and I liked the first two the most as they had the most authentic feel. The flavors didn't pop and aren't too memorable, but still tasty. California was heavy on the avocado :P We were also gifted another roll on the house, so +1 for that kindness! The overall experience gets a 4.5 from me (rounding up) and the food is fresh and beautiful. I would definitely come by again for another quick bite!

We came here for a Yelp Elite Experience and while here we bought additional food. We had a great meal and got to try things we don't normally try.A nice touch at the tables are the stainless steel chopsticks which are not rounded so they won't roll off a plate or table. They also had cloth napkins and napkin rings around the utensils which adds to the ambiance. We ordered a Salmon Kimbap (sushi-style roll) for a starter. My wife had the Rose Tteokbokki, my son had the Poke bowl and I had the Army Stew for our main courses. There seemed to be a small amount of staff present when we were there but they really hustled and were very accommodating to all the customers. I enjoyed my Army Stew and it's mishmash of contents which seemed to go pretty well together! This is a good place to try for some inexpensive Korean foods.
