Bruno's Mexican Seafood is a small mom-and-pop joint on University Ave in North Park. It's on a quieter stretch several blocks west of the main action in the neighborhood. I think a local couple operates the business. There was one table outside the front entrance and three more inside the suite along with four stools at a countertop. In other words, the seating capacity was very limited. The menu at the time of my visit listed eight tacos, four quesadillas, two ceviches, and two aguachiles. A couple of breakfast items and birria fries rounded out the main food selections. From what I can see on the current website menu, the choices of tacos and quesadillas have expanded along with the addition of tamales and a tostada.I came on a Taco Tuesday which featured a $3 special for a fish taco. It was a battered version prepared Sonoran-style. I opted for a grilled fish taco instead which cost about twice as much. Sticking with the seafood theme, my other two picks were an octopus taco and a shrimp taco. Each taco was served on a corn tortilla. Some combination of cabbage, cilantro, onion, pico de gallo, and/or avocado slices topped the tacos. I liked the grilled fish the best because it had the least toppings so I could enjoy the protein more. The size of the tacos was good for the price. They were certainly larger than street size. For the overall food quality and value, I gave a 4.5 star rating for my dining experience at Bruno's Mexican Seafood.

I do love a good fish taco, and I really like a great fish taco like the Sonoran Fish Tacos that they serve here at Bruno's. The tacos are made to order; as a result, the batter of the fish is crispy and piping hot with tender succulent white fish inside. They come on a quality thick corn tortilla, fresh pico de gallo, shredded cabbage, and a garnish of cilantro and lime wedge. They don't put crema on their fish tacos for some reason, which I was okay with, but they do offer a couple of salsas to add to the tacos. A creamy chipotle and red house sauce. They were both very good.I also ordered a side of Mexican Rice. It was the traditional orange variety that was very well made. It was seasoned nicely and offered very good flavors.Bruno's also offers shrimp, beef birria, and carne asada tacos, not to mention ceviches and quesadillas. Service was super friendly and welcoming. They offer inside and outside seating.

Wow - this is a new gem in the neighborhood! Fish tacos that beat Oscars in flavor, and awesome friendly service! I tried the grilled shrimp, octopus, and fried fish tacos. The shrimp was my favorite because it had melty cheese lining the inside of the tortilla. Octopus was a close second and the flavor was insane. All tacos came with a generous topping of avocado, lime, cilantro, and pico (i asked for mine without). They also make their own hot sauce and chipotle sauce, and they have a selection of bottled beers!Took over the spot just past Florida St on University, across the street from Pecs, tons of parking on Alabama. It's a simple menu of $5-6 seafood tacos and a few entrees like enchiladas and chilaquiles. Seems like a family run small biz, great prices and service, I'm so happy I can walk here, I must try everything...

If you need a fresh fish taco, this is your place. We called ahead and they confirmed they had a cream sauce (listen, sometimes our taste buds are specific) for the tacos. As true to go professionals, they put the sauce on the side. (So many places just give you to go food as though you're eating it now and it arrives home soggy.)I appreciated that extra care.Service was quick and food was great. We didn't dine in so I can't speak to that part.

This place serves delicious seafood tacos. I had the fish, octopus, and shrimp tacos. My favorite was the fried fish taco! It was fresh, lightly battered, and well seasoned. The tortillas tasted pretty fresh too. The lunch special was a great deal for 3 tacos. $10?!?! The staff was very friendly. I like the coastal theme with accents of turquoise.

Delicious! First time visiting here and I WILL be back. This tiny Mexican place is located on University Ave just on the edge of Hillcrest entering into North Park. Unless you are looking for it, you will probably miss it completely!Maybe 4 tables and a small counter, it's a clean, fresh looking Mexican Seafood spot with a limited menu. Aguachili, Sonora fish tacos, Birria and just a couple other items. What this place lacks in size and diversity of its menu, it makes up in quality, presentation and overall taste. It's actually a posh little seafood spot, and if you watch the customers it's just what they are looking for. It's just one more gem that you want to be successful, but not blow up that you can't get in and grab a table. The tacos, the salsas and even the complimentary decanter of water that's filled with orange, lemon and parsley is very fancy. By all means if you are in the area try this place!

This place is amazing. They were under renovation for a bit and re opened this weekend. They still serve their fish tacos, but they added sushi to their menu. Tried it ans have to say it was soooo good. This place now has the best tacos in San Diego, the best Mexican food in San Diego period, and the the best Sushi in San Diego as well. Great food, friendly service, local hole in the wallVery unassuming and low-key restaurant on a quiet part of University Ave., but credit to the staff as the food was fantastic and flavorfulThe ahi was fresh, and the sauces had a great blend of flavors. The pieces of fish on the tacos were a good size, and were lightly battered & airy; the sauce and toppings made it all come together wellWill be back very soon to try more on their menu!
