I LOVE this place. I did a review YEARS ago when it was Monkey Paw but nothing has really changed since then. Same great beer and same 100% best cheesesteak in San Diego!! ADD 1 STAR:Best cheesesteak in San Diego as I said earlier. I've been to Philly and had every possible recommended cheesesteak there and this stands up to ALL of them. And btw I'm an Eagles Fan so Fly Eagles Fly. Ain't no chump off the streets. HahaADD 1 Star:Cuz I just had their cheeseburger and that shiiii was fire as hell! Smashed patty and large AF! Stacked with LTO and sauced up! So good!ADD 1 Star:All the delicious beers on tab and drink specials throughout the week! ADD 1 Star:Great vibe! Not quite dive bar, not quite neighborhood joint but just the perfect mixture of both! Friendly staff and awesome artwork!! Everything about Bottle Rocket makes this place perfect!! Oh and the Garlic Fires...that rounds out for 5 STARS!! Hate to rave so much about this place that it's gonna ruin my parking options! Haha

Hidden gem! Came here after a padres game, it's a decent size and super cool inside. Very local bar vibes, friendly and welcoming. Drink prices were also very reasonable! Great place to comeAnd watch some padres baseball.

Great service! Good food! Cute little dive bar. We had good parking across the street, but it was on a Sunday about an hour before closing time, so who knows how parking would be on a Friday night. Anyway, it was good! I'd definitely come back for the food. Make sure you order a side of ranch!!! It's made in house and it's GOOOOOOOOOD!

Would easily come back here, especially on Monday nights- as they host trivia from 7pm-9pm. Bar staff and patrons were friendly. They offer happy hour with wells and beer specials. plenty of seating for large groups as well. We also won trivia our first time showing up. Ended up ordering the beef cheesesteak with onion rings. Might opt for fries next time, but the sandwich was yummy!

Stopped by Bottle Rocket after reading all the excellent reviews. It was a Wednesday night which is Wings night (6 wings for $6) so decided to give those a shot. We were welcomed immediately upon entering by the staff and found the service throughout the visit to be prompt and friendly. You have to go to the bar to place your food orders and are given a number to place on your table for delivery. We ordered two of the 6 piece wings as well as a cheeseburger and an order of fries. The wings came out piping hot but a little bit overcooked. The bbq sauce was really good but the mango habanero was more on the sweet side than spicy which was disappointing. The burger looked really appetizing but was a bit average in comparison to similar places we frequent. Fries were crispy and tasty. Bottle Rocket also has an excellent selection of beers available. I would be more apt to visit them in the future for drinks than for their food because the service was super friendly and the vibe of the place was laid back and fun in general.

Surprising Great place. Cute little dive bar. The food was amazing. We got the cheeseburger and the crispy chicken sandwich. Both amazing. The onion rings are so of the best if ever tasted. Super crispy, and I would 10/10 recommend. Good variety of beers on tap. We haven't tried the cocktail yet but we will come back for that and the wings. Happy hour and day of the week specials available. The food came out fast, and the bartender was super chill and nice. The potato buns on both sandwiches were really good. I loved that the grilled cheese spillover on the cheeseburger was kept on. The cheeseburger was simple but great. The spicy chicken sandwich was super crispy and I loved the spicy sauce so much I asked for more on the side. If anything, come for the onion rings and beer, and to watch a game, as there were tons of tvs everywhere!

Clean place full bar great food what more do you need? I had a grilled cheese and fries along with a couple highlifes

For what it is, this beer bar doesn't disappoint. Great beer selection! Nice beer tenders, cheap good food and atmosphere is perfect for a great pregame drink and meal.

Simple, clean, inexpensive place. Solid bar food. I would definitely go back for lunch if in the East village area. Good alternative to the pricey hamburgers elsewhere in downtown. Great onion rings too! The drinks were well priced. This seemed to me to be a really well run version of a dive bar. The only downside for me was that the location appears to be a bit dodgy at night, IMO. Good choice if you are in the area.
