A bunch of bar style seating that probably isn't good for groups at more busy times. I got the shoryuken ramen which was only ok. It had his weird Chinese herbal taste to it that I didn't like. The noodles were done perfectly and the soy hard boiled was good but everything else kind of meh. I also tried their chicken ramen which was delicious and creamy. Joy G. "Excellent soup dumplings, perfect for a blisteringly cold night! We tried to get into Mountain House and was quoted a 1.5 hour wait; walked a few steps over to BSD and only had to wait 10 minutes. Just a note - we came at around 7pm and the place was jam-packed with people waiting by the door. By 7:30, we were only a few tables left after the dinner bum-rush had cleared. So next time I'm in the mood for dumplings, I'd definitely come near the later end. Service was quick but friendly. You order by scanning a QR code. I liked how you can modify the spice level of every dish and request, for instance, no scallions or extra. Everything comes out to the table freshly prepared. We ordered:1. Crunchy garlic cucumbers: This made my breath stink to high heaven for the rest of the night but for anyone who loves garlic, this is for you. 2. Wood ear mushrooms: I love the texture of wood-ear but the sauce they were doused in was a bit too vinegary and spicy. One of the few dishes we didn't lick clean. 3. The Wuhan dry-heat noodles and the Beijing soy bean noodles. Loved both of these, would definitely get again. The Beijing noodles had a great nutty dark sauce on the bottom, but the bowl was a little too small for mixing.4. The pork and crab/pork dumplings. Not the best iterations I've consumed but pretty good. The wrapper was a little thick for my taste but the broth was very tasty and it was nicely structured so you could eat it without scalding your tongue. Also, for anyone looking for solo dining, there's a row of stools along the window where you can slurp your dumplings in piece.PARKING: Street parking impossible along this stretch but if you head down one street to Commonwealth, there is metered parking that's free after 6pm on Saturdays."

Their takeout containers strategically separate the broth from the noodles so we could add noodles to the broth when consuming to prevent the noodles from becoming overly saturated with broth. I thought both the beef and lamb options were solid although I'm impartial to the beef because it is leaner. If you're a fan of fattier cuts with tendon/silver skin, the lamb would be the right choice for you. Noodles are cooked al dente and the broth stayed hot long after the food arrived. Will have to stop to dine in next time since we only tried them via takeout!"

Della S. "This spot doesn't focus as much energy on decor the way some of the other restaurants in the neighborhood do, but don't let this be the reason for you to skip out on this amazing restaurant! I called ahead to make a reservation for 8 and was amused when the staff member sat us at one of those large, circular, plastic tables with folding chairs. While the vibes might not be exactly what you're looking for during a fancy date, the food is seriously incredible. Everything was very shareable, so the 8 of us picked 7 dishes along with white rice and were all stuffed by the end.Chicken in chili oil ($13.95): super tender, succulent chicken with a mild chili oil sauce. The chili oil wasn't the most flavorful so I would mostly recommend it for people who don't eat red meat.Beef and tripe in chili oil ($13.50): this was my favorite cold appetizer of the two I tried! Somehow the chili oil in this dish was significantly more flavorful than the chili oil in the chicken appetizer and the beef slices were melt-in-your-mouth tender.Sliced beef with Szechuan numb peppers ($26.95): I love dishes that are not shy about their mala spice and this dish understood the assignment! The soup itself was so fragrant and packed with veggies in addition to lots of beef slices.Yu hsiang eggplant ($14.95): the eggplant in this dish was very soft in the best way possible. This was the least spicy dish we ordered. The thick, sweet, and savory sauce clung onto the soft pieces of eggplant and went so well with rice!Spicy beef brisket in clay pot ($17.50): I didn't expect the beef to be almost shredded, but it was still quite tasty. This dish was on the savory side (whereas some of the other dishes were a little tangy or sweet). I would recommend this dish for people who are just getting introduced to Szechuan food.Szechuan hot sauce fish ($21.95): this is normally one of my favorite dishes to get at Szechuan restaurants and I love to use it as a reference to figure out if a restaurant is good or not. This dish was very delicious and packed a generous portion of fish! Dry pot chicken ($18.95): they light a flame under this dish at the table and it adds a lot of smokiness to the chicken. This is a great dish for people who like spicy food because there are a lot of whole dried chili peppers! There were a lot of veggies and I wouldn't have minded if the chicken-to-vegetable ratio was higher. While this restaurant is not bougie or fancy, the serving staff were all kind, patient, and helpful. I felt super relaxed and almost homey eating here. I'd love to come back again soon."

Their fish sauce was decent especially with their S9 Bnh Hi Cho Tm Tht Nng. Peter C. "The best parts of this place are the staff and the options of 3 size bowls. The menu is pork heavy. Pretty much all pork. While the noodles were good, the broth had no depth. It felt like one of those places you go out to eat and wonder why you didn't just make this at home. The pork itself isn't tender. I compare this to my favorite local shop and the pork there melts in your mouth. Hokkaido feels like a fast food version of Ramen. The butter corn is just canned corn with a square of butter dropped on it. Not even melted. It was like they just stopped trying. Good Ramen places with roast and season the corn before it gets to you. I was super disappointed in the food here. It's not terrible. It's just bland and boring. If this was the first Ramen I ever had in my entire life, maybe I would give 5 stars. I can name a dozen local spots I would rather go to than here. Kudos to the nice staff. They're awesome."

Wen's Noodle across from Boston Common is a small place that gets mostly Asian eaters because it's authentic and not Americanized like Panda Express and shit like that. Basic noodles like pho and ramen. There's a variety of noodles and of proteins as well. It has mostly Chinese along with Korean and Thai cuisine. Lots of variety to get here. There's a nice range of levels of spice. Among the Thai items are curries. These come with a choice of a protein like chicken or tofu. I like the Vegetarian Curry Over Rice. It's $10.89 for a pretty big portion of this. There's the protein along with some vegetables. A mild level of spice. This an also be adjusted and it can be way hotter than this. Curry sauce is also good. The noodles dishes are good too but just know to substitute rice noodles because these are the egg free ones. Has a small dining area inside. It doesn't have a whole lot of tables so it can be hard finding a seat. This is a reason why most people get takeout."

I'm tempted to give Sun Kong five stars on the sheer excellence of their tofu pudding. It can also be called Douhua, Doufuhua, or a long list of other names. Regardless of its name, this is one of my favorite dim sum treats, and it can be surprisingly difficult to find... especially in the midwest. Here, the server masterfully scooped out large silky petals from the cauldron of steaming hot custardy tofu into waiting bowls. It was gorgeous. On the flip side the char siu pork that filled the steamed and baked pork buns was on the mushy side. My kids love pork buns, but on future visits we will skip these entirely. But that is fine, because there were so many other tasty treats available. The dark horse was the Chau Chau Style Dumpling. These thicker skinned steamed dumplings were a textural delight, and definitely earned a spot on the table for a return trip, as did the Fried Dough Rice Rolls and Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice with Chicken. My pro tip, like all good dim sum places, is to arrive early. And by early, I mean when they open. Parking is tight, but we were able to walk right in and grab a table without any wait. That meant, we could relax with our first pot of tea and consider which plates we would select on the paper menu. I did have to ask about the tofu pudding as we had received everything from our original order, and were sitting around patiently waiting for this important dish to arrive. It just takes time to make, and the staff did a fine job at keeping our teapot filled until the cauldron was ready. Which, could be an argument for arriving a little later in the morning, but that comes with a different set of challenges. So glad to have made a stop into Sun Kong and look forward to exploring more of their menu down the road."

The soba is their specialty but it seems as if they're willing to offer other stuff like sushi as well. The appetizers might have been even better than the soba. The dragon ball avocado cold starter was beautifully presented, with roe and crabstick inside. The mayo might have been slathered on too heavily, but otherwise a nice dish. The homemade tofu was a light appetizer that brought out the homemade soybean flavor really nicely, with quality fish flake and seaweed garnishes. The galbi and shitake mushroom yakitori skewers were quite flavorful, especially the shitake. The pork kimchi hot soup dip with cold soba was fairly excellent; I wish that the buckwheat granules of the cold soba were more pronounced on bite, but the soba was definitely fresh tasting. The jjajangmyeon is also pretty good from here. Last night, we ordered the seafood scallion pancake, a small spicy tangsuyook, seafood jampong (D7) with extra veggies & seafood, & stone pot pork with rice. Very generous portions, in my opinion. The prices may look a bit steep but it's because most of the dishes are meant to be shared family style. Seafood kimchi pancake was alright, it wasn't crispy and kind of mushy... probably wouldn't get that again from here. The tangsuyook was good! They definitely do make one of the crispiest tangsuyooks around. The stone pot pork was yummy and the jampong was amazing as always. Lots of shrimp, calamari, & noodles.
