"Great friendly & fast service! Fresh n tasty. The salmon teriyaki was nice n crispy n perfectly seasoned. The shrimp tempura was super crispy n perfect w the sauce. It's a small place but it packs bug taste."
"This grab-and-go sushi stall is located inside of Hmart Burlington. They have a good amount of prepared sushi and grilled fish in containers in the front along with bottled beverages. And then the rest, the menu is posted on the wall for hot or cold dishes freshly made upon order. Because it's attached to a grocery store, parking depends on how busy it is. But I would travel here during odd hours so I haven't had any issues.Una-Ju- Broiled eel on a bed of rice. Side of seaweed salad, crab stick, yellow pickled radish. Not a fan of crab sticks just randomly inserted but everything else was pretty good!Overall Service: When I am hungry, I tend to stare at the menu for a while and the staff here were very patient with me. I made my order and they let me know the estimated time it will be done. Which is great for perusing the bakery next to them while the food was being prepared and when I came back, they handed the bag to me. Easy peasy!"

Enter the brand new spot, Wa Shin. The host/manager Matt was super friendly. He was very polite, and is the expert on their alcohol. He can tell you all about the drinks and sake and suggest something to your liking. Absolutely ask Matt for guidance on your beverage selection. Chef Sky's omakase concept is not to be missed. The setup is roughly 12 counter seats if I'm not mistaken, but the area dedicated to the sushi chefs is huge. Many places I've been to in NY, the area for the chefs to work is very small, or smaller by comparison to Wa Shin. This feels like the design was conceived to spotlight the experience behind the counter. This feels much more authentic.A beautiful interior, and limited seating, you're really getting a premium experience. The price does correspond to that level of offering as well. Seatings are Monday thru Saturday, 5pm, 7pm, and 9pm, as of now. It did run up right to the end though. The next seating is already waiting for you to be done. Expect to spend the full 2 hours there, which is awesome, as you're not rushed. The omakase selection is pretty awesome. The menu is expertly curated by Chef Sky. The Uni is from Hokkaido. The salmon from New Zealand. The fish is all sourced from hand selected destinations. The scallops were so sweet. All the courses were VERY fresh and fine tuned to please your taste buds. Chef offers purple Uni as well. The shell is purple, so the Uni itself just looks very much like regular Uni, but it's so delicious. The aged tuna was so good! Fatty tuna melts in your mouth. The chefs use a kind of scoring technique with the knife in some of the pieces, which makes them much more tender. They care alot about the preparation, which is a tribute to Chef Sky. The omkase experience is just that... an experience. I've been to $70 omakase in NYC and they crank out the courses in an hour flat with little care. This is a premium offering with premium fish and hand crafted courses with sushi chef expertise."
"Normally I don't like to do too much for my birthday, but my sweet Christopher is AMAZING and the BESTEST! He took me here for an early birthday dinner & Oishii's is always a great time. Tonight, we got the hamachi appetizer & salmon on fire, 3 maki rolls (toro truffle, for the love of salmon, & crunch mango), two entrees (chilean sea bass & squid ink noodles), & of course, had to end our meal with the lovely coconut sphere (my favorite!). We were not the biggest fan of asparagus or cucumber rolls last time we were here so we decided to skip out on those rolls. Everything tasted absolutely delicious per usual & cannot recommend Oishii's enough for sushi! Their menu is a bit on the pricey side BUT very generous portions and not skimpy like other high end restaurants. Dark ambiance here. Don't be shy to use flash for pictures hahaha. The toro truffle is a MUST, as well as the coconut sphere. 10/10 ;)"
"The person answering the phone is so rude. The food was good. The service not as attentive as I would have liked, just ok. The place is nicely decorated."
"I was in the Boston on a trip and stopped by here for a quick and healthy lunch. We don't have one of these restaurants in the area where I live, so this was a fantastic first-time experience trying them out. I was impressed with all of the fresh options available to customize my bowl. The staff was courteous, and service was great. The dining room was bright and cheerful for dining in. Very happy I stopped by, and will add this to my list of go-to spots whenever I'm visiting again."
"The nigiri was good but by no means spectacular. Service was fast and good. The volcano roll was very good. I'm not usually a fan of specialty rolls but found the volcano roll delicious. The avocado seafood salad was delicious but was light on actual seafood. Overall not a bad spot in the area."
"Consistently good! That's how I would describe Super Fusion. It's a no frills joint. You think of takeout sushi, and this place comes to mind. Fifteen minutes and your order is ready. We've ordered multiple times now. I don't believe they have an online ordering system, but it's super easy to call and place your order, takes a minute at the most. We've had the spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and a couple other rolls - they've all been tasty. A special mention of their vegetarian roll, the Hawaii one, which has mango, banana, avocado, cucumber, and cream cheese. Don't knock it till you've tried it! And thanks to the many many Yelp reviews recommending the Beni Toro Banana, we ordered it and enjoyed it. I never thought salmon and banana fried in a ball, drizzled with sauce could be so good - and especially that sauce, yum.The next time you want a quiet night in, watching a movie, and you wonder "sushi night?", Super Fusion is your place!"
"Sushi Man is the spot to go for casual sushi in the Newton/Chestnut Hill area! Their sushi is quality AND quantity is generous. It was my first time coming here today and was definitely not disappointed. We ordered two appetizers to start: agedashi tofu & chicken karaga. Both were 10/10! Each table has low sodium soy sauce, regular soy sauce, & shoyo for dipping. Tasty and not overdone. For sushi, we got an order of salmon sashimi (comes with 2pc/order), sunset maki, caterpillar maki, and dynamite maki. At first, I wasn't sure if the amount we ordered was enough but when the apps came, I was already feeling pretty stuffed haha. Definitely generous portions here AND I AM ALL FOR IT! All the rolls tasted super fresh and you can tell they do not skimp at all with the ingredients for each roll. Everything was amazing and my favorites were the dynamite roll & sunset roll... hands down. Our server was also AMAZING. Loved her! Very sweet and kept coming by to check in on us & refilled our waters. Each meal comes with fresh oranges at the end. The oranges were juicy and sweet. Parking: They've got a parking lot to park at with lots of spaces available. Overall, I had an amazing first meal here at Sushi Man tonight and would most definitely be back SOON. If you're ever in the Chestnut Hill/Newton area, you must try Sushi Man!"
"Definitely one of my favorite sushi places considering I do not eat seafood or meat. It has selected vegetarian options, but in my opinion they are pretty good compared to other places in town. Most of the locations are small and cozy, except for the Boston location. Parking is hard to find considering the location. The service is good but if you sit upstairs and they are busy, it can take a little bit before someone takes your order. My favorite items to order are-Miso soupYasai GyozaSweetie Roll - my favoriteHawaii Roll - 2nd favoriteOrder the gyoza sauce instead of soya sauce and have your sushi with that. the sauce is delicious."
"An absolute gem of a place!!! Food is delicious u cannot go wrong with anything you order here! My boyfriend and I come here very often and each time we receive great service & hospitality! If you're around the area you must try it!! I drive 25 min and totally worth it each time :) def recommend their crab ragoons and beef chow foon!"

I finally got to try raman! Stopped in here for a quick lunch break- spied raman on the menu. I ordered the spicy raman- choice of pork or beef; I chose pork. Got a beeper and it was ready in about 7 minutes. Raman came with a small dish of kimchee, which I did not care for. So the raman was ok. It did not blow me away. Not much pork. Came with a half an egg & wood ear mushroom. $13 lunch.

I'm speechless. Wa Shin is that good! The omakase rivals the best in NYC with the freshness of the fish and the exceptional ambiance and service. It ain't cheap but for the caliber of food, you are more than getting your money's worth. I love when a chef focuses on highlighting the natural flavors of the fish. I don't need a lot of fancy bells and whistles, aka going overboard with the sauces and garnishes, and it's a thin line between overzealous creativity and one or two add-on's that really make the piece sing. The painstaking eye for detail is apparent from the wood used for the counter (hinoki, imported from Japan) to the staff making sure your drink is always filled to the little bowl of house-made pickled ginger (with a tinge of yuzu) is never empty. I noticed Chef Sky would adapt immediately to customers' preferences - if someone didn't like shrimp, he switched it out for another fish; if someone else preferred less wasabi, he made sure to modulate. The chefs also constantly made tiny scores in the fish for more depth of flavor, especially for the pieces getting torched. I could go on and on about what an incredible meal this was. The rice - temperature, coherence, taste - was perfect. From start (an oyster topped with uni) to finish (lychee sorbet), everything reflected a commitment to taste that you wouldn't expect anything less from someone who was mentored by Nakazawa himself. My favorites:- King salmon. Insanely buttery. Best piece of salmon I've ever had. - Tamago. Like an eggy cake. If you've watched Jiro, you know that scene of Nakazawa trying to perfect the tamago and this was all I could think about. - Medium-fatty tuna with caviar. - Eel: this isn't the eel you see in sushi spots where it looks a little too perfect and is drowning in sweet soy sauce. This eel was a lighter color and, yes, cliched as it sounds, melted in my mouth. I will say that a lot of the pieces were pretty light and clean, with only a minimal amount of sauce or garnish. I walked out feeling the perfect level of satiety after 18 courses. To top it all off, Chef Sky is a hoot. Can't say enough good things. 5/5! 10/10 A++++

Sushi was solid, really enjoyed the crispy rice. The flaming salmon was a great visual presentation. The lobster rangoons were good but I would have preferred a more traditional sweet and sour sauce. The chocolate cake was good but it's nothing I haven't had before. The sphere dessert was cool to look at, but it was better to look at than eat.

The setting is one of a kind and unexpected. Super spacious inside and had lots of private rooms for you to reserve. The private rooms definitely make your meal feel more intimate and quiet. We mostly ordered sushi while we were here. The cuts are super thick and tastes fresh. The wait staff were also super friendly as we were celebrating a birthday and was able to cut the cake there. Food was overall a little pricey but I think you're mostly paying for the ambiance.

I am tremendously in love with the Love Art brand. I'm usually a little skeptical about the quality of the ingredients when they are stationed Chipotle style. To my surprise, this was incredible! Everything looked and tasted fresh and amazing. Their drink menu is small but they were all refreshing. The decor was thoughtfully chosen and displayed. The overall vibe is just 100%!

What a great little find in Back Bay. Little hole in the wall, maybe 50 tops. Cane here for lunch with "her" got sat by the bay window and pretty view of Newbury street below. I had the salmon bento box she had a salad. Super prompt service. Great fresh food and this day and age the price was reasonable. Definitely coming back when visiting Boston.
Visit Restaurant Page"I tried both Avana's Avocado Salad $4.95 and Kani Salad $5.95 to go and found them both fresh and refreshing, but that the Kani salad was inaccurately portrayed on some online ordering options, including the one found on Avana Sushi 2's own website. The Kani salad is described as Crabstick, cucumber, avocado, mango in a dressing. There was no avocado for sure, and probably no cucumber. The mango was sparse. It was mainly dressed shredded kani on a bed of lettuce."
"Came here with a few friends who was craving sushi for dinner. After some casual day drinking and catching up we needed a place for a late dinner. They close at 1 AM. As we got there at 10 o'clock there was a decent rush around 1130 midnight. We all ordered the sushi which was delicious and super fresh. Drinks for a little bit on the sugar side so I stopped at two. Great amendment was I was able to switch to Jen instead of vodka for the wakikki drink"
"TL;DR - Very solid food, nothing remarkable, but hits most of the right notes. Service needs refining. Went here with a group of people (there were 6 of us) and ordered the Spicy Tuna Rangoon for an appetizer and for Davis Square Maki and Mexican Roll for mains. Also had some green tea.The Spicy Tuna Rangoons were definitely an interesting spin on Crab Rangoons (one of my weaknesses). In terms of filling, they definitely did not skimp on the meat, as they were filled entirely with spicy tuna, and not 98% or more of cream cheese! (Can't say this is the case here, but in other places it has been known to happen). Nothing remarkable in terms of flavors, but pleasant. The dough was not immediately out of the fryer, and I personally would have liked it a little crisper, but this wasn't glaring. Also possible they wanted to wait until more dishes in my party's order were ready. The sauce provided was pleasant as well, a spicy mayo, possibly? Sushi rolls also did not skimp on the meat! Fish itself seemed to be of high quality. They were definitely tasty, but unremarkable. Some of those touches which would service to distinguish them were lost for me. For instance: the Mexican Roll was supposed to have: "avocado wrapped with tabasco sauce", but I don't recall that distinct Tabasco flavor. Possible they were referring to the sauce used on top, but if memory serves, I would not call it Tabasco sauce. The tea wasn't the tastiest green tea on the planet, but for a cold night with unlimited refills, I will take it!Then came the service: it was fast and efficient, but there were moments of unprofessionalism which made the experience less than stellar. I realize this is not the caliber of restaurant where servers wear tuxedos with bow ties, but service is part of the experience nonetheless. A couple examples: When handing food to someone further down the table, the server's shirt came uncomfortably close to hugging my food. When refilling water, some spilled on the table, truly no big deal, she apologized, we said it's okay, but the not miniscule spill wasn't cleaned up (nor even extra napkins brought over). Finally, a can of iced tea ordered fell on the floor, and thankfully didn't burst. She apologized, and served it to my friend anyways. I would say to bring a new can in any case, but especially in the midst of a pandemic."
"I would say three stars is about accurate. The honey and I simply wanted a very late night dinner after a long day of travel and I went ahead and ordered UberEats for dim sum for two, as well as a chicken and rice soup (which came as chicken noodle), and tempura shrimp roll.Everything was okay, although the ingredients were definitely on the cheap side. The soup was about a step up from canned and the tempura shrimp roll was a-okay. The dum sum for two was middling with the bao being a version I didn't care for and the dumplings being on the bland side. All in all, we wouldn't order again, but it wasn't bad for late night very desperate fare."
"Surprised this has such low rating! It's not the best sushi in town but it's pretty generous for the price. Usually sushi places around here will engineer these tiny little cylinders of fish and charge the standard $8-$15 for a roll, but Blue Fuji I think didn't get the memo and is still making pretty chonky makis. It's not the best I've had, but it hits that sushi spot. The staff is also pretty happy and accommodating, the place kind of has this low-key vibe. It might help that the times I've been here it's been pretty empty, but honestly I like that versus the insanity that places like Fuji get up to.Generally a good place to go for sit down or take out, kind of confused why this would have such a low rating. I thought by serving sushi and not poisoning your customers your default was four stars."
"I will never get tired of coming to Maruichi's! It is located across the street from their market, in Brookline. **Maruichi Select is their cafe + food & Maruichi Food&Deli is their grocery store market**Their matcha is incredible and superior to most places in the Boston area. I used to frequent here at least once a week to get their matcha. Today, I decided to try their seasonal mango matcha iced latte and it did not disappoint at all! It was super refreshing and is the perfect drink to sip on, on a nice summer hot day. The mango purée paired well with the matcha and I would most definitely get this again! I actually went in here twice today haha because I peeped that they had matcha milk jam in stock, which I have been searching for a store that had it in the area but was unsuccessful for over a year. So I was a happy camper today when I was able to locate it in store! I can't wait to try it with strawberries and on toast. Their onigiris are tasty & HUGE; if you need spicy mayo, they have plenty of condiments available with plastic sauce cups.I have tried their chirashis bowls before in the past and highly recommend. Fish is high quality. Great cafe place to visit to grab a coffee or matcha and a snack (maybe even lunch because everything here is super yum!). They've got plenty of seating here and are open till 9pm usually. Parking: Lots of parking available, mostly meters. Parking spots available on the street or can park in the parking lot by the back entrance of the maruichi food & deli market, across the street."
"Not sure why the ratings are so low here. My experience was very nice and the food was tasty. The best time to come here is when they have their lunch specials! The prices are great and portion size is generous. I ordered a spicy beef cold udon, and it was like a tan-tan noodle but with udon noodles. The noodles were nice and chewy and I felt happy with the amount of beef I got. The sauce was great! Service was excellent as well. Haven't tried the AYCE yet.. maybe next time!"
"I've eaten here again several times and decided my favorite sushi roll is the Paradise Maki, yum!"
"Great food on Newbury st! They serve Omakase nigiris 13pc for dinner, 11pc for lunch at $38 and $37 respectively. Dinner comes with miso soup and lunch comes with miso soup and salad. Both come with matcha mochi which were freshly made and so delicious! Fish pieces were not as vibrant in color compared most other good sushi restaurants but that might be because they choose fish without (much or any! coloring added. I'm not entirely sure. Fish options for the omakase dinner included sea bream, ikura, uni, squid (one of the best i've had!), unagi, salmon, fatty tuna, regular tuna, marinated tuna, yellowtail, jumbo shrimp, scallop and omelet. Rice was also not too much which I appreciate. Also ordered the potato salad which is one their signature. Comes in a bed of fried onion. Potato salad is made with boiled eggs, pickled vegetables. Not too salty or sweet. Service was wonderful. Our server was very kind and friendly. Tailored to our needs well! The interior is a mix of modern, class and Japanese styles. Very clean space and comforting yet upbeat music."
"Formerly New Sushi, Kyoaji sits at the corner of Brighton Ave and Chester Street with red awnings. I ordered takeout poke bowls on a weekday for dinner and service was fairly quick. The pickup was quick and the layout of the restaurant is the same with a few small tables if you're dining in. They have QR codes to order from their menu at each table. I created my own poke bowl and got tuna, shrimp tempura with avocado, seaweed salad, corn, edamame with yazu sauce and sesame seeds. They don't have a surcharge for avocado and the bowls are reasonably priced for the amount of food given. At first glance, it doesn't seem like much protein and just a lot of sides, but it's definitely a filling poke bowl. The shrimp tempura was still crispy and there was a lot of sauce in my bowl. If you order from their website there's 3 different offers 10% off your first purchase, $3 off $20 or more, or 15% of $65 or more. They're still using old New Sushi bowls, but they have their Kyoaji stickers on the top of the containers. They also have ramen, sushi (sushiritos), and appetizers on their menu. Overall, a good place to grab a bite to eat in Allston."
"The Internet seems to have a very positive opinion about Yamato. After walking by and having a mental bookmark for over a decade, it was finally time to stop in. I blame Reddit - plus I had a nearby interview that got out just as lunch was starting. Off the bat: $24.50 for AYCE sushi lunch is a great deal, especially in downtown Boston. However, $25 can get you all sorts of delicious lunches, and I'm not sure Yamato has gone in my Rolodex of places to revisit. I do think it is worth a second chance though... only maybe for dinner.I had the opportunity to try:- Crab Rangoons- Brighton Maki- Volcano Maki- Salmon & Tuna Sushi- Salmon Skin Hand RollThe Crab Rangoons were alright. The filling was A-OK, however the fried wonton was on the thicker and chewier side for my taste. The Brighton Maki was a bit unsure. Rather than having a spicy tuna filling, in this case it was the exterior topping! Inside was avocado and white fish. Flavor-wise, this role wasn't much to write home about. I found the pieces a little inconsistent as well (more or less spicy tuna topping, smaller or larger bit of white fish, etc). Texture-wise, the large amount of spicy tuna, rice, and avocado led to a mouthfeel that hid the white fish. Overall though, pretty average: I'm glad I ordered it, but not necessarily something I'd order on future visits.Something I would skip on future visits is is the Volcano Maki. This one contained...cheese? I'm not sure, but it was a simple spicy tuna maki topped with a seemingly cheese-bound "torched scallop, tobiko, scallion, crab meat and mushroom mixture." Points for creativity, however seems like something I would make when trying to empty my fridge pre-vacation. It did not work here in my opinion. The salmon skin hand roll was very good. This one had balanced textures and ingredients, and allowed the quality of the rice to shine. While I deviation from my usual eel hand roll, this is something I would happily order again (though maybe in the eel variety). Also a favorite were the salmon and tuna sushi (nigiri, I suppose?). The simplicity is what works here. High quality rice and fresh fish, plus a little soy sauce makes for a winning combination. Finally, the service was friendly and attentive, no complaints there. The location was generally pleasant, but felt a little musty, and the mirrors could use a good wipe down. Thus, while the rice and fish are fresh and tasty, the execution could use some work overall. As such, I have the agree with Yelp's 3-star average, and disagree with those friends and Redditors who extol Yamato's virtues."
"Amazing hotpot- the Mongolian is my favorite.Try the vegan fish and the fish paste and the quail eggs!Parking lot behind though it fills up pretty quickBe prepared to wait on weekends but worth it!"
"What a great way to start out 2023 with a solid 4/5 star rating!I've dined at Kaze several times now, but I feel confident in giving them 4 solid stars. This is the perfect comfort food spot that's opened later in the night and decent in price. Service is always pretty quick.Amazing quality meat cuts, including the Japanese Wagyu Kobe beef which comes with gold flakes on top. The bone marrow soup broth is phenomenal, and it comes with a bone and meat melting off the sides. The only reason why this place cannot receive my 5-star rating is because the sauces are left out in the open for everyone to access. They don't even have a sanitary cover."
"Positively the worst takeout order I have ever had in my life! I ordered the tofu pad thai but it bore no resemblance whatsoever to this menu description. Just some noodles with lots and lots of onions. Absolutely horrible."
"This is a Omakase style restaurant which means "it is up to the chef". The chef determines the content of each one bite course. I like sushi so the 20 course meal was great for my palate. I was doubting that 20 courses could be served without being seated for 4 hours but alas, each course arrived promptly after the finished plates were removed. I felt like this was an experience rather than a dinner. There isn't a traditional dinner flow to the evening. The course arrives, you get the overview, server leaves, you eat your one bite, the server appears and takes away your plate. Repeat 20 times. It is fun and delicious. The beverages are crazy expensive. Stunning in fact. So, not a place to focus on getting a bottle of wine. Have a beer or glass of wine. Service was spectacular. Friendly, extremely accommodating, knowledgeable about every dish and best of all..they kept the meal moving.Overall I am happy to have had the opportunity to try this multi year best of Boston restaurant. Pricing is impressive but so was the food. This is a good place to go for a special evening with friends; wealthy friends."
"I came to sushi express for the $20 (can't remember exact price) 3 roll sushi combo that comes with a side salad, miso soup, three 6 piece rolls, and soda. The sushi is very average for the three roll combo where I got the spicy crab, spicy tiny and spicy salmon. All the sushi had a similar orange inside with a deep fried part. I could not necessarily taste the fish quality as there was the crispy/fried taste. The miso soup, salad, and soda was decent. This place when I went was quite empty but great for a quick in and out meal for a good price"
"Super cute and chic Japanese bistro restaurant. I enjoyed the Nigiri sushi ( standard sushi), spicy tuna hand roll with some yakitori flank steak, chicken wing and chicken thighs. And I had cucumber salad and the sliced beef... delicious! Everything was light and fresh that matched perfectly with my aperol Spritz Would totally come back here again."
"Gantetsu-Ya is located at 318 Harvard Street in Brookline, MA. It is located in the neighborhood Arcade Building. The restaurant specializes in Japanese street food, particularly two well known dishes, takoyaki and okonomiyaki. The restaurant is also owned by the same company as the very popular Ganko Ittetsu Ramen, which is also located in the same building. I having been reading that the restaurant would be opening up in September in the same building but to my surprise, they are located directly across from each other. The close proximity is strategic as the two restaurants will bring customers to each other. You can't help but see the other restaurant. If the wait for ramen at Ganko Ittetsu Ramen is long, patrons can easily grab an order of takoyaki at Gantetsu-Ya. Takoyaki is a very popular street snack in Japan. I have had takoyaki at several restaurants in the area. Gantetsu-Ya is definitely in my top three. One order came with eight doughy squid balls. When I say doughy, I mean the inside is not cooked through. And this is how it should be, somewhat oozy on the inside and with a nice chunk of tako (squid). If a restaurant serve this dish cooked through, it's kind of like passing a fully boiled egg off as a poached egg? Okonomiyaki, another Japanese Street food favorite, is a savory pancake that is filled with vegetables and meats. It usually has lots of shredded cabbage for vegetable and usually pork for protein. There is also a layer of noodles too. Everything is typically wrapped in a layer of egg and common toppings include otafuku sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, scallions, dried bonito flakes, aonori (dried green seaweed flakes). As for the okonomiyaki options at Gantetsu-Ya, you can choose from five versions. They vary slightly but all have some common ingredients such as sliced cabbage, noodles, and an egg layer. The original version contains sliced pork belly and sliced cabbage. The Mayo-cheese version has American cheese. The Negi-Mayo version is kind of like the original but with Japanese mayonnaise as one if the toppings and extra green onions. The Veggie version has mushrooms. And lastly, the seafood version has shrimp and yari-ika which is a type of small squid. Definitely look over the ingredients and pick what you like. As for myself, I tried the seafood okonomiyaki. This was only my second time having okonomiyaki. The first time was at another Japanese restaurant (Ittoku). The okonomiyaki at Gantetsu-Ya was definitely more filling. I don't know about others but after finishing a bowl of ramen from the ramen restaurant across the store, I only had room enough for one takoyaki ball and a teeny bite of the okonomiyaki. If you want to try these two items first before heading over to try the ramen next door, there might not be enough room for ramen after. It's a tough decision. Or maybe just bring a friend. The interior of the restaurant is designed to look like you're in Japan. Very small, with about three tables for seating. The wait for one takoyaki and one okonomiyaki was about 15 minutes. There was no one waiting before us so I am unsure what other people wait time was. The service was polite. Price was fair. I would definitely come back. See my pictures."
"Yamato is decent AYCE sushi with appetizers, entrees, and dessert. Since it's a buffet, don't expect the best quality. I usually go here for their dinner service and order mostly sashimi, especially the tuna, white tuna, salmon, and mackerel. For appetizers, I love their shumai (fried or steamed), crab rangoon, agedashi tofu, and fried tempera. I would skip the fried calamari and spring rolls since they are frozen supermarket quality. I would also pass on their soups (udon and ramen). I like their salmon teriyaki and steak. For rolls, the rainbow, dragon, yellowtail & scallion, salmon & avocado, philly, and spicy salmon are some of my favorites. For dessert, I would pass on the fried banana and get the fried ice cream (only comes in vanilla) and regular ice cream (comes in green tea, red bean, or vanilla). The sashimi is good quality for a buffet. Their sushi rolls are padded with a fair amount of rice so I wouldn't order too many.I recommend ordering the most with the first round because they tend to drop items or give you less pieces with future rounds. I've also noticed that the food takes longer to come after the first two rounds so re-order early. The service is typical for an Asian restaurant and you will need to flag your server down from time to time.As fast as food waste goes, as long as it's reasonable, you won't be charged, but I have seen them charge items a la carta pricing if alot of sashimi or rolls are left uneaten. There is a 2 hour seating limit after you sit down. Currently, lunch (till 3pm) is $23.00 M-F and $26 on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. Dinner is $31.99 Sunday to Thursday and $33.99 on Friday, Saturday, and holidays. There are some dinner exclusive items such as sashimi, sushi combos, dessert, and a few entree items."
"The food was really good. The location was nice and Newtonville. It's a very family restaurant in this location. The service was a little slow. The spicy tuna wasn't that spicy. The ambience seems to be very contemporary, but I don't know this would be my go to sushi place. It's nice to know that it is there in the neighborhood."
"The perfect spot for a rainy night in Boston. I dined here with some friends and had a great meal filled with lots of laughs!Shabu Zen offers a great hot pot dining experience that caters to the cravings of any hot pot lover or first timer. What's nice about this location is that you have the option to have a solo pot or family style. The restaurant has a diverse selection of fresh and high-quality ingredients, allowing you to create your own personalized hot pot concoctions. The broth options are rich, flavorful, and you can divide to get two soup bases. The crowd favorite amongst our friends was the Miyazaki Waygu A5 Grade. Cooked within seconds and the perfect soft texture. It's a must try. With attentive service and a cozy ambiance, Shabu Zen is a must-try destination for those seeking a satisfying and interactive hot pot experience in the heart of Boston."
"I love this restaurant and bar. One of my favorite places to watch football and have a good strong drink. And did I mention they have a jukebox? With Covid I have been ordering takeout. It has lost some of it's quality and my stomach has taken a beating. But will be back at the bar as soon as it reopens. The take out is super fast if you need something quick. Big portions as well."
"Ordered pickup via Grubhub and order was ready in 20 minutes! 3 rolls: Unagi Spicy Salmon Maki, Black Forest Maki, Spicy Scallop Maki at $6.50 each, and unagi sushi. Order came with two little cups of soy sauce. The rolls weren't as packed as I'd hoped they'd be but they were fresh and tasty. The eel sushi was really good and sauced well. Not a bad local spot to get sushi."
