Aaron H. "Definitely wanted to try this place out since it's a new all you can eat hotpot that opened in boston. It is similar to spring shabu where meat and seafood is a la carte, but this place offers A LOT more - including dim sum, appetizers, and hot side dishes. I tried to order a few of everything but I came late at 9:30 on Wednesday and last call is at 10. It's nice out the portions are smaller so you don't waste food, and you order everything via an iPad. I got the sukiyaki chicken broth, it was alright nothing too fancy. Everything was pretty standard and with a price of $25 before tip and tax, excluding a la carte, that price is hard to beat. They have a sauce bar as well as a soda fountain that is included. The place isn't too big but it isn't small, so I can definitely see this place getting packed on a weekend. It's very clean and very modern. What is also amazing is the SERVICE! Even though they knew last call was at 10, they made sure my food came out quickly and let me know when the kitchen is closing multiple times. I believe my server was Mikael (it was the only name on the receipt) but he was super accommodating and even recommended that the mango bun pairs well with ice cream which he was not wrong. All the other servers were also great as well, especially for being so late at night with a few customers left. I definitely would come back!"

Lauren J. "This is a really solid place to come to for hot pot. We usually get the house broth and the spicy broth, which is really flavorful. It's all you can eat, so you can check off whatever you want and they'll bring it to the table. I usually get a couple kinds of steak, crab legs, shrimp, salmon, white fish, quail eggs, an assortment of veggies (bok choy, chinese broccoli, mushrooms, etc), and white rice. They have MANY more offerings, but that's just what I usually go with. You can ask for more sheets to get more whenever you want, which is great. I definitely recommend Hot Pot Buffet as a tasty, inexpensive all-you-can-eat option."

Ethan R. "Had been to Royal once before back in 2018. Sadly it was a one star wonder and the entire experience was disappointing & lackluster at best. However now...I stand corrected and thus rewarding them with the five stars they so richly deserve. A visit to their IG page is what drew me in to give Royal another chance. That & of course the endless persuasion from my girlfriend who loves a nice Hot Pot place & IG worthy food content. I can confidently say that Royal delivered in abundance, quality food with exceptional service in an atmosphere best described as aesthetically pleasing. The special added treat for us was... their also wide selection of marinated meats for Korean bbq!For their menu, they offer a variety of options along with some very diversely put together Hot Pot & BBQ combinations for you to experience the best of both worlds. Highly recommended & extremely reasonably priced for the sheer amount of food provided. Pick your broth, choose your meats and simply enjoy & have a wonderful time. If not those options, they also have an array of sushi options and entrees for you to choose from. Thank you Royal for the wonderful experience. We will most certainly be back. #redemption #redeemed Thank you Royal"

This is the perfect comfort food spot that's opened later in the night and decent in price. Service is always pretty quick.Amazing quality meat cuts, including the Japanese Wagyu Kobe beef which comes with gold flakes on top. The bone marrow soup broth is phenomenal, and it comes with a bone and meat melting off the sides. The only reason why this place cannot receive my 5-star rating is because the sauces are left out in the open for everyone to access. They don't even have a sanitary cover."

Nick S. "I went on a weekday right when it opened. Wasn't that crowded at first but began to fill up.Currently they have a deal for their All you can eat, and I wasn't disappointed. The service was quick and attentive to our needs, refilling our water and bringing out dishes quickly. They understood their menu perfectly and was able to recommend us dishes to try.We tried the Pork Belly, Pork, Beef, and Lamb. They were all pretty good and came with good portions for our party. We also tried the watercress, fried bean curd, silken tofu, quail egg, and noodles. All of them were pretty standard, though I highly recommend the noodles as they were pretty good.We tried the pork dumplings and brown sugar rice cake as appetizers. The pork dumplings were standard, and the brown sugar rice cake was good. Not too sweet, and the rice cake was fried and crispy. The saucebar is pretty good, standard options but also options of chopped peanuts for the sauce. They also have a dessert bar with ice cream and popsicle options available as well. The ambiance is quite good, the chairs are unique and the theming was nice. The only issue I had was the pot was a bit far from the seat, but that was just a problem with how I sit.Overall a great experience and is a place I would go back to again."

What's nice about this location is that you have the option to have a solo pot or family style. The restaurant has a diverse selection of fresh and high-quality ingredients, allowing you to create your own personalized hot pot concoctions. The broth options are rich, flavorful, and you can divide to get two soup bases. The crowd favorite amongst our friends was the Miyazaki Waygu A5 Grade. Cooked within seconds and the perfect soft texture. Joyce L. "Huge shout out to the most awesome waiter -A Tan ( hope I got his name right... Omg I'm getting old, can't remember his name right now!). Service here is great, very attentive. A Tan even went out of his way to help me with an unusual request even though I was not assigned to him. So if you stop by and are lucky enough to get seated in his section, you'll get great service that's typically not found in Chinese restaurants ( sad but true). Now onto the food. I had the bone broth with tofu combo and bunch of vegetables. Everything tasted great. You can make your own sauce at the sauce bar. I was in the mood for vegetable soup, so this hotpot definitely hit the spot. Overall, a great dinner. The only con of this place is that it's quite expensive. I spent over $50 for just 1 person"

Lizzie Y. "Hotpot One offers all you can eat hotpot, with options to get no meat all you can eat (vegetables, fish balls, noodles, etc) or all you can eat, which includes meats and everything else. There are a couple meats that aren't including in the all you can eat and have an additional fee, ribeye and lamb. Hotpot One was a great experience and is similar to Spring Shabu in Allston/Brighton! In some ways, this place is better than Spring Shabu, such as the all you can eat meats option. The variety offered for vegetables and noodles are not as great as Spring Shabu, but gets the job done. The have a nice sauce bar that has just about all of the condiments most other hotpot places offer. The star of the show, for me, was the clams! They were huge and continued to be consistent in size after ordering 4 rounds of the clams. For the price of the AYCE, I would say that it is super worth it to come here, with family or a big group, or even by yourself. P.S., I would double check the receipt when asking for the bill because they did make a mistake with charging extra additional charges. We had ordered four plates of the lamb and ribeyes but were charged extra for other things. My friends who I came here with have eaten here multiple times previously and said they experience the extra charges every time, so I would suggest double checking the bill before paying! Otherwise, I totally recommend coming here for the AYCE! Super similar to that of Spring Shabu but is convenient to have in the Quincy area."

I tried the beef and green beans, tofu and veggie rice plate, fish and veggie rice plate, and minced beef and vegetable rice plate. Everything was good, my favorites were the tofu and cod dishes. The rice plates are much cheaper than the entrees. My only complaint was that the lady who took my order the phone misheard me and charged me for the entree.. that was a little frustrating so just be sure to emphasize you want the rice plate. Overall, solid Chinese food and they are open late. Parking can be tough so we just always got take out."

Ordering is done via ipad/tablet, in which you can order everything to the table and a worker will come with your broths and food in timely manner. I am in love with their bone broth and have not found anything like it anywhere else. Their mala spicy broth is also amazing and actually spicy. The quality of the meats, fish, etc are unmatched. They are a bit pricey but well worth the price. Also, LOVE their sauce bar. Their tables and overall aesthetic remind of being in China, so it feels a lot like home and brings me comfort. I recommend getting the brown sugar rice rolls-- DELICIOUS!"

DLY Hotpot

DLY Hotpot

Lizzie Y. "I tried DLY (DaLongYi) Hotpot earlier this week because we heard there was a new AYCE hotpot place opened in Allston!DLY is one of the few hot pot spots in the Boston area that are open pretty late, until 1am daily. We came to try DLY around 10:30pm Monday. So apparently, AYCE stops around 9:30pm and any time after that, it is a la carte. AYCE price is normally $38.99, however, they're running a Summer Special price of $32.99/person (6/14/24-8/31/24). AYCE includes some of the items offered on their regular menu, sauce bar, broth, & dessert. For four people, ordering a la carte came up to about the same it would've been for AYCE. We ordered a couple of different meats, including the "milky beef", meat platter, fish balls, veggies, and more. The milky beef was a bit underwhelming because it was simply just beef with milk. The meat was already tender so it wasn't bad at all. I enjoyed the meat platter we got as it came with a variety of different cuts of beef. The salted yolk fish balls were unique and typically do not find them in other hotpot places. It was bland on its own but overall, not bad. The ice tofu here comes actually frozen. I was a bit confused when it first brought to our table but then realized it was the ice tofu. Never seen it like that before but it did taste like how it normally does. DLY seems to be an okay hotpot place. They're open pretty late so I can see this being a great spot to come if you're not feeling the other late night spots. Just note that this is not AYCE after 9:30pm if you are planning to come for AYCE."

We had a party of 5 and got a nice corner booth at the front of the restaurant. The service was excellent with food coming to the table within minutes and our water glasses topped off every few minutes. The food was outstanding. We had kimchi, a paradise sushi roll and beef tongue for appetizers. For entrees we had more sushi, beef noodle soup, general guas chicken, kung pao chicken, and a mala soup. Hands down the best dining experience we had in Boston."

Matthew H. "Stopped by for dinner per a friend's recommendation - and I'm so glad I did! There are a lot of great restaurants in the area, so I've passed by Mala Kungfu loads of times, but I've just never found the chance to give it a try. I'm sure other reviews cover this in detail, but the tl;dr of this place is that you assemble a bowl of ingredients and they cook it into a hot-pot-esque soup - you're charged by the weight of your bowl.My bowl was so delicious - the broth was tasty and not too salty, and all of the veggies/fish balls/etc. were just so nicely cooked. The beef (which cost $4 extra) was amazing - tender, juicy, and flavourful, complementing the noodles and lighter ingredients in the soup so well. I particularly loved the many different type of fish balls - cuttlefish, ones with filling, fish cakes - a lot of variety to choose from :)I'm not actually sure exactly the per unit cost (by weight) - but my bowl came out to be around $25 after tax/tip, which is definitely more than I would have expected, both for this type of cuisine and for this neighbourhood around Allston. That being said, my meal was amazing regardless and I will definitely be back soon!"

Joy G. "Is it the best shabu shabu/hot pot experience I've ever had? No - that honor goes to Hai Di Lao in China, where you get a free manicure and loads of snacks in advance. But Spring Shabux2 is a great deal for the area, especially if, like me, you're more into fish balls and veggies and noodles than meat. It's a flat rate and buffet style, so you can eat to your heart's desire, and it's a particularly good deal for large groups/families, since there's usually something there for everyone. I loved the buffet of veggies, fish balls, mushrooms, tofu, noodles and rice. So many different kinds of veggies! The variety is another selling point. As is the sauce bar - I have no idea whether what I'm mixing will turn out good or not, but I went with sha cha, peanut sauce, sesame sauce, and chili oil, with loads of scallions and cilantro. Everything was very clean and fresh. My favorite was the fish ball with roe inside. For once, the protein a la carte options play second fiddle to the incredible buffet spread. Don't forget the green tea soft serve afterwards! My one tip is to go on a weekday night (and on the early side). Our group of 3 went around 5:45 and didn't have to wait, though when we left at 7:30, there was already a line. The weekends are bananas. Also, they won't seat you until your whole party is here so don't be the annoying friend who claims to have left already when you're still sitting at home. PARKING: Spring shares the lot with PetCo, just be mindful of not parking somewhere that's specifically designated. If that lot is full, you can always use the enormous Star Market lot."

Rocky W. "Ibasaw is an AYCE hotpot and sushi a la carte restaurant. I came here with a big group on a Friday night and we didn't have to wait. They have a huge parking lot with lots of space.Every table shares a communal pot. For broth, we got the half Chengdu hot and spicy and half Chinese herbal. Their menu has a pretty big meat and seafood selection. The best things to order are the prime rib ribeye, rock crab (whole), lamb, clams, muscles, shrimp, and scallop. If you're into the exotic foods, they have beef tongue, aorta, frog leg, gizzard, and blood. Everybody gets 2 hours to eat. For vegetables their daikon, enoki mushrooms, winter melon, wood ear fungus, bok choy, napa cabbage, and watercrest were good. If you waste too much food, they have a policy that they can charge $10 per person. Their sauce station was simple and includes about 15 different things in it. They serve pretty affordable alcohol here as their cocktails here are $9, beer is between $5 to $7, and wine is $9 a glass. They also have wine by the bottle, sake, and soju. The service here was decent and the food came out quickly. The ambiance is that of a very typical plain Chinese restaurant with no decorations. The price is $35 for the all I can eat but they charge an extra $3 for the broth so it's more like $38 a person."
