Super unique ordering system - you can't get something by talking to someone, only through their GrubHub tablets. It wasn't a difficult ordering system by any means, but it was just a little weird since there was staff we could visibly see making all the food behind the counter. The food was extremely overpriced in my opinion - really not worth the price for what I got, but the bowl I did order was relatively filling and tasted okay. It's just overall, the price of everything was a little too steep for the quality of food that they produce. Overall, I would say come here if you're in need of a fast meal like I was, but if there are other options, I'd go there first.

I go to Basho express about once per week and always get the create your own bowl. It is always extremely fast and delicious. I am a BU student so it is especially continent for me. I love the eel sauce, spicy salmon, crab, and tofu. I get spicy cucumber and edamame

I had been anxiously waiting to try Basho Express, as it opened up across the street from my building at BU. I came by here for dinner after class one night. The line moved fast and the food came out quick and fresh! I decided to try the crunch shrimp wrap: shrimp tempura, avocado, rice, cucumber salad, tabiko, and spicy mayo (I think I'm missing an ingredient). It was jam packed full of ingredients and flavor! The wrap was the perfect size and didn't fall apart as I ate it. I loved the balance of cool cucumber salad with spicy mayo and crunchy shrimp. They have tons of options for wraps or bowls plus create-your-own choices too! Can't wait to come back and try some of the other items! Finally a fresh, quick, and tasty food option in East Campus!

Great sushi, but concerning that the restaurant has a fruit fly problem. That certainly ruined what would have been a great Backdraft Tuna Bowl. I showed the staff, but my only option was to gave another made. After the first I wasn't up for another.

I actually really like this place. I don't know why people give it such bad ratings. I liked that my seaweed wasn't soggy even though I waited like 5 minutes to eat it because I went to get a smoothie at planet smoothie next door. The sushi burrito was exactly what a sushi burrito should taste like: fluffy rice, seaweed & seafood. The place is small, but very clean. I would come back for sure. I got katsu chicken (has a BBQ taste to it) and my friend got salmon tataki. In my opinion, I liked the salmon burrito better! They also have the option to make your own.

when I opened my wrap, they have cut it diagonally instead of straight in the middle, and it was so diagonal that the wrap became so loose and all the fillings were falling apart, and I could not take a bite without having fillings falling everywhere, I had to resolve to using a spoon. Also, I bought a small packet of red bean mochi, and when I opened it i realised that it was already the expiry date, and the mochi was not even sticky at all but flaky and hard. Basically wasted $15 on bad food and service!

I ate here late on a week night and it was pretty slow. Prepared foods options were really scarce but I wasn't interested in that anyway. I wanted me one of those mythical sushi burritos. Rather than try to mess up what could possibly be a good thing I went with the chicken katsu wrap. I figured since it was a combination on the menu that it was well vetted and would be really good. I have never been so wrong. It was so sour! Their sushi rice uses either far too much vinegar or not enough sugar and if you mix that with their katsu sauce it's this weird salty sour thing that makes you sad inside. It was edible, but left you never wanting to go back. The restaurant itself is really nice. It was very clean and the staff were all extremely friendly even though it was late and they probably just wanted to go home. When someone asked if they discounted the pre-packed foods at closing time (which is a thing I saw commonly done at other Japanese markets) they simply said no because it's fresh. And that's cool, you don't have to discount your food but... Because it's fresh? This is sushi guys, it's not going to be fresh tomorrow... Just makes me suspicious of their prepared food section now.In the end, I really really REALLY want to like this place. They have a great foundation (nice staff, clean restaurant, creative menu), if they put just a little more care into each of the ingredients (but mostly the rice and sauces) then this place could do really well.

Of all the sushi burrito/rice bowl restaurants I've been to, I'd say that Basho express is just okay. The first time I was here, I ordered a sushi burrito which I thought was pretty small - it was more like a sushi roll than a burrito. I wasn't expecting it to be thick like an actual burrito, but it was pretty thin compared to other sushi burritos I've had. The other times I've been here, I ordered a bowl because it was bigger in terms of portion size. I really enjoyed the bulgogi rice bowl and will definitely order it again! I think that's the only thing I like here on top of the arrange of Asian drinks they sell here. I think I just need to explore the menu more. But so far, the flavors are just meh and nothing stands out to me.

Sushi burritos are my weakness, and I haven't found any place that truly specializes in them here in Boston until now. Sure there's Oginger in Davis but those burritos are appetizer sized, and not a specialty (they serve other items besides the burrito). There are at least three more "burrito" joints opening soon but this is the only place I know that is open already. These burritos, or "wraps" as they call it, are actually meal sized and are served with seaweed paper and not rice paper (which I don't like).I would totally give this place five stars for the taste had two things not happened. One, the burrito broke while I was eating it. Burritos are great on the go but this one fell apart and could only be eaten with a fork. Two, I FOUND A HAIR IN MY BURRITO. No, this hair was not mine. I was already on the road so couldn't go back and let the staff know, but I was really upset because honestly, it tasted really good.I hope this was a one time thing, but to all Yelpers, please check your food before eating! As for me, I think I'll wait until the other stores in Boston open up to satisfy my cravings...

They don't look at the side notes if you ask them not to include something they will do it anyways. Limited options and tbh a waste of money. Amazing concept poor execution.
