I came here with my foodies club in a party of 13 and we had a great time! Due to our party size, we were seated in what is effectively a private dining room downstairs that has a beautiful wine wall as its backdrop. It made the experience feel both intimate and exclusive. Our server, Brian, was not only very helpful with menu recommendations but he also got all the right angles for our group photos! We came for Dine Out Boston week and were happy to have a great meal. I started with the Wagyu dumplings with ginger, lemongrass broth, which was really an interesting appetizer. The lemongrass certainly came through in the broth and it was an enjoyable dish. I follow this with the hanger steak with peppercorn sauce, which was cooked perfectly at medium. I could've used a touch more of the sauce, but that is just a personal preference. The star of the show was the sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce. Chef's kiss! This was the best dessert I have had in recent memory. The cake was moist but not overly so, and I could've drunk a gallon of the butterscotch sauce. I wish I were still eating it right now! Move over, other steakhouses. Boston Chops is here to stay!

We had a great time at Boston Chops in their Downtown Boston location. From the first greeting when we arrived, I knew our experience would live up to my expectations. The dark, intimate, and romantic restaurant blows you away from the start. Even opening the heavy door once you walk in makes you feel that you arrived at a mystical place. Overall impression: Let's start with ambiance first because this is my favorite. I loved the decor and dark interior presence. It just added to the sexiness of the restaurant and our overall dining experience. We both ordered some drinks to start and then our entrees: We shared the 14oz Ribeye which was cooked to perfection and then had a trio of sides to share which was also a plus since other establishments do not offer this. And the portions were also perfect! We didn't have much time since we were headed off to a musical two blocks away. The location was perfect for our evening and show too. It made things very easy for us.I will say be prepared to spend $$$ here. And, because they are a steak restaurant I do believe they are pretty comparable to others in the City. They have a nice wine menu both bottled and BTG. Our server was good but wish he had more enthusiasm, but that is just me since I once was a server and sometimes I expect a lot.I highly recommend dining here for sure. Maybe get all dressed up and make it a fun evening with dinner, and a show like us. It was a great night. Cheers~

Dine Out Boston (3 Courses $46 per person)Reservation at 5 p.m. There were few people when they opened the door, the waiter/waitress was friendly, and the kitchen served fast, so there was little waiting. We both ordered local oysters as a starter, the New York strip (peppercorn sauce) and skirt steak (house sauce) as the main course with additional roasted bone marrow and crab cake as the main course, the sticky toffee pudding and the pineapple cheesecake for the dessert. We ordered the onion rings, which were crispy but too oily. The steak frites are nothing special. Both desserts are a big no-no for me, but since it is part of the menu, I can't complain. The roasted bone marrow was highly recommended even if it cost additional to the menu, but it was worth it.

***3 1/2 stars***Boston Chops was a last-minute/impulse decision after the #1 spot on my Boston wish list (The Wig Shop) had a 90-minute wait on a rainy Saturday night. My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I both really like bougie steakhouses, so once we discovered this place a stone's throw away, it was an easy call. Both the exterior and interior were classic high-end steakhouse - an entrance with a red carpet and accompanying rope (a week away from the Oscars) and huge ceilings, with a lot of sleek, black high-top tables. There was no wait and we were ushered to seats pretty close to the bar. I got an Old Fashioned, which was fine but not mind-blowing. I had it with pretty high-end bourbon (you could feel the smoothness) but it was still missing something, in my opinion. Maybe it needed an edgy rim or something for a slight zip of flavor. It wasn't bad but didn't blow me away. We got a few apps, and I made my escargot debut. I'll be honest - not only had I never had escargot, but my primary knowledge base for it was an incident in a Babysitters Club Super Special book where Claudia has it on a date and hates it (I can't believe there was a time where I legitimately thought 13-year-olds went on dates to places with escargot). It tasted fine, well seasoned with just the right amount of butter, but the texture was predictably rubbery and wasn't my thing. I'm into a lot of seafood, but this genre with the snails and oysters doesn't do it for me. The crabcake was considerably better though I thought it relied a little too much on the breading than the actual crab. Decent though, like virtually everything else. At the casual urging of my bougie chum, we split the Wagyu steak, I believe the 8 oz portion. Delicious and easily the star of the show. It's probably heresy to even mention this in the context of a steakhouse review, but I'm more of a burger connoisseur. This was flavorful, tender, and I loved the presentation of the bone at the top of the bovine portrait. I imagine it's how a high-class caveman would have done it.Ultimately, everything was really good but not great. I think a lot of people would take that as a victory, but it's a hollow one for me because I've been fortunate enough to go to my share of truly amazing steakhouses. I wouldn't put this in that category, but Chops had a respectable showing.

Perfect date night. Kiko was our bartender who made our experience the best. We came in late and enjoyed a 5 star meal even though it was close to closing. We started with Duxbury oysters which were amazing as always, and the bruschetta. The popovers are the perfect texture. For our meal, we ordered 18 oz Ribeye medium rare with Creamed Spinach + Sautéed Mushrooms + Grilled Asparagus. Everything was cooked to perfection. duxbury oysters 5/5bruschetta 5/5spicy margarita 5/518 oz ribeye 5/5spinach 5/5mushrooms 5/5asparagus 5/5 I wanted a particular dessert listed but they said they had run out. Kiko went to the back and found one last lemon blueberry cake and it was perfect.Boston Chops is absolutely 5 star restaurant, the food and service is phenomenal.ambiance: 5/5drinks: 5/5food: 5/5service: 5/5Boston Chops: 5/5

Came here on a Saturday night with some best friends. The restaurant is very nice and modern. The appetizers came out very quickly. Unfortunately, the French onion soup lacked a lot of flavor. It was extremely bland. The wagyu dumplings weren't anything special either. Although I did not try the bone marrow, my friends were very unimpressed. However, the complimentary bread soufflé they serve was very delicious. We all loved it. I ordered the hangar steak to share. We ordered it medium well, but was still bloody (not pictured). It took FOREVER to come out. Very disappointing. I would not return.

My sister and I had an amazing dinner experience here! We sat at the bar and let the bartender be our guide. We ordered quite a few things to share, everything looked and tasted amazing. He even made us a couple really cool cocktails that weren't even on the menu. If you're visiting Boston I would highly recommend you check it out. This downtown location is in an old bank complete with vaults that dates back to the 1800's, it's stunning.

I came here for thanksgiving because this year I didn't feel like hosting or cooking. My mom and I ordered nothing fancy and kept our meal pretty simple.I guess I wasn't the only one who didn't want to cook because majority of the dishes that were ordered weren't that tasty. The onion soup was not flavorful and felt bland and thin. It didn't have the rich and thick onion flavor french onion soups usually have. My steak I ordered medium rare came out done and salty. The only dishes I enjoyed were the casear and the sautéed mushrooms. So my thanksgiving meal was meh.

The food at this restaurant was very good. I got me that 18oz prime ribeye CHEF'S KISS. Could have been a little more seasoned but over all it was good. The brussel sprouts was amazing. The service at the place was very well. I can't remember my waiters name but he made sure everything was good and held us down. The Ambiance is very good, nice lighting and some seating.....I'm glad I sat in the back because I don't like to be next to a lot of random people. First time going and would go back again!
