Ya know, just when you think you know your city top to bottom a new (to me) place catches you off guard and you become a fan. That's exactly the case with Borrego Rooftop. Located on level 9 of Hotel Indigo this place is dope. I kept thinking how rad it would be if I booked a trip to SD and landed myself at Hotel Indigo with a rooftop bar as nice as this one. The Mexican theme isn't overdone and the prices really aren't too bad for what you get. What do you get exactly? Well...For me the best part was the view, especially because there was a Padre game happening at Petco Park and you could see the action really well. I'll certainly be back before baseball is done for the year and Borrego earned my endorsement for both tourists and locals.

Upsetting experience on our staycation in downtown. We were excited this new place opened on Hotel Indigo's rooftop but the only thing I can rave about is the drinks. They do make some delicious cocktails, and you can't beat the view! However, due to service, I'm hesitant to recommend others come here. The staff is mostly pretty nice, but somehow during our visit, we were forgotten about and then completely ignored after we started asking for status updates. We ordered ONE dish, the loaded fries, and it took 45 min to come out. I can handle mistakes or mix-ups but we were told the kitchen was "backed up" yet people that came in after us were getting multiple dishes like salads, tacos. cheeseburgers (with fries!) and yet our order was just "behind"?? No, what I think really happened was our server was distracted by a large group that came in and I realized later that we were the only table she did not use the device in her hand to enter the order. Therefore, I think our order was barely put in when we started asking about its status. I don't appreciate being lied to or the chef/kitchen blamed. If it was a mistake, just own it and say "guys I'm so sorry, I never put it in." And the icing on the cake was when the staff started hiding from us behind plants, literally, because we kept looking for someone to ask what was going on.Thank you to hotel front desk for addressing this issue and being open to hearing our feedback and concerns. They did mention this isn't the first time they've heard of issues up there and so the restaurant management needs to step up or the hotel will start losing business.

I was so excited to try this rooftop spot after seeing it on Instagram. The views did not disappoint! I went here before a Padres game and could see the players warming up. I grabbed a reservation online since it did fill up closer to game time. You can sit on barstools right near the window (best views) or around the fireplaces with very comfy chairs. The cocktails were picturesque and very Insta-worthy. My favorite was the Aloha Ma (mezcal & aloe flavors). Hit up this spot if you are downtown!

On my outing the other night I stumbled upon this hidden gem! The Borrego rooftop located on IHG's Hotel Indigo's 9th floor, focuses on great indoor/outdoor lounge areas. Nestled amongst city buildings, the ambiance of the layout makes the city skyline & Petco park pop in the background. There are multiple firepits with couches and a bar top with barstools that attached to the glass railing. The glass railing make any seat on the patio the place to be. In addition, There is a wood covered art deco bar to the side of the lounge areas. This intimate spot is perfect for a night out with the friend or a nightcap afterwork. Hours are Monday-Sunday 4:00 PM - 11:00 PM, Friday-Saturday 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM. There server was fast and friendly! I did not try the food, but the hibiscus cured Kampachi looked good or next time. Try the espresso martini it was delicious!

I recently came here with coworkers for a happy hour. I really wanted to like this place but several things impacted my experience. The rooftop area only had 1 server while we were there. The drinks we ordered were not what we got. For example someone in my group ordered a st. Germain spritz and got an aperol spritz with st. Germain in it which I was told wasn't it (didn't taste good). Most everyone at the table had a similar experience. The drinks weren't bad but they were good either. I had a zero proof beverage and it didn't bad but not good either. Our server was funny, tried his best to be fast and accommodating when he read out loud faces taking first sips the view is great and can see why people would come here for that. Maybe I came on an off night

Definitely a nice place! I think it was recently renovated + now they're trying to get the word out. Great views of downtown and Petco Park. You can see right into the field/home plate. Our server Ky was super friendly and on top of things. There was a DJ playing good music, but we came for what we was advertised as a watch party. Unfortunately there weren't many tvs outside (only by the bar) and they were not playing the audio of the padres game. So we only stayed for one drink. Food + drinks were pretty pricey as well. It's downtown, so it wasn't surprising, but we opted to go elsewhere. Great views though! Maybe we'll try coming back another day

Venture into Borrego Kitchen and Cocktails in downtown San Diego for a whirlwind of flavor and fun! Thanks to their lifesaving parking validation, you can focus on soaking in the jaw-dropping views rather than fretting over parking woes. Whether you're cozied up inside or lounging by the fire pits outside, the ambiance is electric. Their shareable menu keeps the good times rolling with no-fuss, delicious dishes. Despite a minor steak snafu (we ordered medium well and they werequick to fix it), the impeccable service from our server and bartender kept the smiles coming. We're already planning our next visit, especially for those clear-sky panoramas and a wave to Petco Park in the distance!
