This is one of my favorite lunch spots in Chicago. The silogs are delicious. The Redline Express is a must. Imagine a Bicol Express but revolutionized. If you don't know what a Bicol Express is, it's okay, just get it. You won't regret it. Also, what's in that Mac salad. It's so gooooood. The lechon Kawali is also so juicy and crispy. The space is nice with a cozy vibe. And the service was excellent. It makes sense why they're on the Michelin Guide.

The food was not bad. The lumpia was tasty. The canton was good and the lion's mane entree was very good. My biggest issue was our waitress. We were curious about trying several dishes, and every time we asked about a dish, with each response came the price of the dish! It cheapened the whole experience and became very awkward. I felt as though we were in a cheap crowded cafeteria in Tondo (Phils). I actually thought she was only doing it with our party, but then realized she was responding to other patrons in a similar way. We couldn't believe it. We could all hear since the customers were closely seated and the restaurant was crowded. I hope the owners provide proper training or hire seasoned waitstaff. Returning customers often rely on the food and the service - these are almost inseparable. She was nice but appeared to be inexperienced and uncouth. This is unfortunate, given all the other restaurants that compete for patrons. It impacts the reputation of the establishment.

Cute Filipino restaurant. A bit dark ambient lighting.Pork belly: one of the best crispy pork I've had! Really juicy, perfect match with the brown sour sauce I forgot what it is made ofChicken leg is super tender but needs more stronger flavor for meSizzling sisig: I miss the sizzling plate dish in Asia! Flavor's ok. A bit too sour for me. The hot plate did not bring the flavor outGarlic rice is really strong garlic smell. Wish it has some meat so I can just eat it by itself Reasonable price for the quality of foodClean and nice restroom with poupouri and a bidet! Not many people will actually use it but nice to see it!

Out of everything I tried here on a weekday for lunch, the Hanghang Sinigang was the best thing I ate. It had a generous portion of the most tender, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs and the broth is savory but not overly salty or sour, which I really like - a must try if you're in the area. My other fave was the daingsilog; the cod was nicely fried and flaky. I also tried the lumpia, bagnet, and halo halo here too which were also good. Street parking was easy on a weekday and our party of two was seated right away.

We had a delicious dinner at Boonies. Our sever was quite well versed in the menu and provided great recommendations. We had the most scrumptious spring rolls, Pancit noodles, pork belly and short rib. This is a BYOB, we went sober and had Topo Chico's. My only ding is, the food was served too quickly. We had to order all at once. Our server brought out dishes while we were still enjoying another dish.We passed on dessert.Great neighborhood spot..

Pricey but tasty Filipino fare! This is a restaurant that serves elevated and "remixed" Filipino cuisine. There's a limited menu, so when I went with a group of 7 we basically ordered everything on the menu. Service was great, and Liv our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us guide how to order our dishes. A lot of dishes are small, so in order for a big group to share, you need to double up on them. Highlights were the sizzling sisig (ground meat with sauce and egg) and the lamb shank (wonderful flavor and gravy)!Things I would probably skip are the pancit canton (which was lacking a bit in flavor, and the portion was small), the eggplant appetizer, and the lions mane mushroom ulam.Price came out to about $50 a person. I also found the portions to be on the small side. I feel conflicted about this restaurant, as it does strive for an elevated dining experience, but with dishes that are typically inexpensive casual fare. So to see a dish like pancit which is something you would see in giant portions served at a potluck, served in such a small serving, there was almost something contradictory about it. And I couldn't help but think about going to a much cheaper restaurant and having a meal that was just as satisfying. But it was nice.

Everything about Boonie's was delightful for lunch. The service was stellar, the vibe very calming and chill, and last but not least... the food was VERY good. Everything was hot and fresh & full of flavor. I'm not sure how much their dinner menu differs from lunch-- but if you're in the area, I definitely think it's worth it for lunch. Great food.

FINALLY GOT TO TRY. I remember when I first heard of this place, they were just a stand inside Revival Food Hall. Im super happy they have their own brick and mortar now!!!The restaurant is very intimate and small inside. The menu isnt that big either so we ended up ordering the entire menu except the sides and the fish entree and it was the right amount of food for 4 people to share. Everything came out in a timely manner and was plated nicely. My fav dishes were the sisig and the liempo (pork belly)!

I am a little mixed on this place because I don't think filipino is really my thing. I will bump it up to 4 because I don't think anything went wrong, but I am just not a fan of this kind of food. We started with the getting all the grilled appetizers (minus the vegan option). The chicken, pork belly, and short ribs were all excellent. I would give a special shoutout to the short ribs which were better than I expected. The pork belly and chicken were pretty good too. The portions were also decently large. We also got the lumpia which is always a hit! I got the beef tongue for my main course which had some pretty good flavor, but was kind of mushy. This is probably how this is prepared so its probably more of a "me problem" than anything the restaurant did. We all also got garlic rice which we thought was a little too much garlic, but mellowed out with the addition of other meats and flavors. We ended with the fried sticky rice coconut balls which were good, but not extremely memorable. Still, it was a strong ending to a meal that I thought lagged a bit in the middle. It was also a little expensive. The menu seems a little too small and unless you really like filipino food, you are only going to have options in the applitizers. Honestly, that is survivable as I thought the grilled meats appetizers were tasty and I should have gotten more instead of the tongue. The other highlight was that the service was actually quite excellent. They were able to make recommendations, were attentive, and flexible with a few young kids we had. The place seems upscale, but is pretty cozy and has probably the best volume music I have heard at a restaurant. Not too loud, not too soft. Will I be back? Maybe. I would return to get the chicken, pork belly, lumpia, and short ribs, but that is the meal that I am making. I would suggest that to you if you are unsure.k

This is a breakfast/lunch review! NOTE THERE IS A DINNER MENU, I wish I knew. We were looking forward to the dinner. But either way, it was really good!My family flew in for my dad and I's birthdays so we got a ton of food. We're Filipino so we had a great time with the menu. Firstly the mushroom dish was phenomenal. I didn't know mushrooms could taste that great with rice! Second, tocino spam and rice was great as well! Tasted like home! Third, the fish and sinigang were amazing! We f%*| that s%{* UP! As a note those two dishes are shareable so they're more expensive but we shared the food between 4 of us so it was a great time. Also, we had lumpia as appetizers and those were great too. Lastly, they're partnered with a coffee shop so those drinks were good but nothing special. Also, service was very helpful. Our server checked on us frequently but not too much. And the ambiance was chill, great decor, very homey. But definitely make a reservation! Super popular restaurant but definitely worth it! My family has already planned to come back next year for the dinner menu!
