This feels a little gimmicky to me. The lady that took my order was very sweet and the ambience was beautiful inside so I can tell they're really trying to make it a whole experience, but the drink I got was just not up to par. First off, it came out to over $9 for a regular sized latte after tax and tip which is insane, and I didn't even finish my drink because it just wasn't that great and didn't taste very special. I got the cinnamon vanilla latte and when asked about the sweetness I asked for the standard amount. She said they could only do medium sweetness which didn't really make any sense. I'm not a Starbucks drinker and do try to seek out more unique coffee experiences but perhaps I'm still not a connoisseur enough to appreciate this coffee. But it was so expensive for a small, basic latte and I won't be coming back. Also their lids don't really fit on their to-go cups because mine kept falling off and spilling my drink on me.

I drove all the way from LA county to visit this place, and I had been in the car for so long and needed to use the facilities before ordering. I asked the lady at the counter if I could use the restroom, and she told me that it was for customers only... ummm that's why I'm here... I get that it's opening day for the Del Mar Race Track, but it just made my experience a 1/5 stars, and I'm ok to get on to my next destination. I did NOT end up ordering, but my husband ordered the bohemian latte, so I cannot give an honest assessment of the actual coffee or banana nut muffin. Also, I'm not a fan of the smell inside the actual coffee shop. Smells musty... woodsy...

Four stars for the decor inside. I thought the summer surf tea was good and coffee was different. Am I glad I went to try it yes. Will I be back probably not. Service was good, the barista was knowledgeable and friendly in helping us order.

I spent almost 9 dollars on an 8 ounce vanilla-cinnamon Turkish coffee. For that reason, I don't think I'll be back. FYI, they don't have regular espresso here, so if that's what you're looking for I recommend going somewhere else. I will say the drink was smooth. It takes about 5-6 minutes for the drinks to come out, so if you're in a rush I wouldn't recommend it. Nonetheless, it is very cute inside and it's a unique experience.

3.5 stars - 3 stars for the drinks and the food options and 0.5 stars for the ambiance. The Bohemian Alchemist shows up on my social media all the time so I finally decided to check it out. As with any place that seems to show up on social media all the time, I was a little disappointed with the experience. The ambiance is beautiful. The interior is a shout out to the middle-eastern decor with low seating on "gaddis", elaborate pillows, curtains, wooden tables and chairs with some interesting work on them, and metallic utensils, etc. The menu is very limited. They have a Turkish coffee, an Egyptian coffee, a chai, a latte version of the coffee, pour over/French press/cold brew, and some herbal options. They say they have baked goods, but those were also very limited and primarily sweet. I did feel that the blueberry tart I got wasn't freshly baked in the morning. My friend liked the Turkish coffee. There was a Turkish delight presented with it. That is nice, of course, but not something that I've seen happen in Turkey. So, it felt like a forced Turkish obviousness. I'm not a big fan of how strong that coffee is, so I went with the Bohemian latte which was pretty good, but probably needs a sweeter element that is not sugar. Their MO is the sand-brewed coffee. So, that is all I would recommend this place for. If you want a better coffee shop experience with Turkish coffee, you may want to look for something else.

Overall, this place is incredible. Well rounded beautiful concept, and the ambience is to die for. This quaint little spot, nestled in Delmar it's perfect if you're looking for something, unique an interesting in a coffee shop and quick bite to eat. The drinks have unique flavor profiles, and well-rounded flavors. Overall, the only thing this place needs to improve upon is the staffing. Sometimes the orders will take a bit longer than others to come out not that this is a con as I know all the drinks are handcrafted, but some thing to be mindful of when they are full and busy .

Turkish coffee was delicious! This is not your s***bucks type of place. Everything is hand crafted and you must wait for the deliciousness. The woman working the front counter was very friendly and explained everything.First day in town I got an Egyptian coffee which is a Turkish coffee with a cardamom pod in it.Turkish coffee beans are ground fine then are added to a tiny kettle with water and is brewed in a container filled with sand. The sand is heated to boil the brew.To me this is what good coffee is.I'm back today enjoying another.Too bad I don't live in Del Mar.
