Blue Star Restaurant

A friend just moved to Roslindale and we found the Blue Star. I had thought the restaurants like this had been chased away. This is good food, prepared quickly and there's always a cup of coffee. She had the corned beef hash and I the blue berry pancakes. Both were delicious. Service was insanely speedy and really nice. If you need a no pretense place for breakfast -- this is the place. Amazing.

I have been going to this restaurant since I was 8 years old. When you can smoke in there. The place is great for fast breakfast food. They have amazing pancakes I came here with my kids they picked the most non breakfast food.. The French toast came out with powdered sugar and melted butter so amazing good. They have the best kind of fries. our waitress was good she got our order in fast. The drinks come in container so no refills only coffeeAnd they unfortunately take cash only. This place I would recommend if you want to eat a quick breakfast

Probably one of the best breakfast I've ever had. This is located bright inRoslindale Square across from my credit union. When we went to have breakfast I had yelp to find a close place by to find breakfast and this came up. The food was cooked order it was perfect the server was very nice and friendly explaining everything that they had. I am looking forward to going there again has the home fries and the omelette was perfect. This is definitely hidden jewel in the center of Rosindale.

This is a place I've heard about for years. It's a small restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. We ordered steak, a pancake, French toast, bacon, an omelette, home fries, and toast. Overall the food was bland. The pancake was tough. The French toast was thick and fluffy but not flavorful. The toast was barely toasted. If you order one egg and one pancake, keep in mind that it only comes with one slice of bacon literally. The steak was nice and tender. I didn't order it well but it came out the perfect medium well, which I usually don't order. If I have to go back, I will only go for steak tips. The ambience is regular diner like noise. The service is fast and very friendly. Our server was the only one and she worked the whole restaurant. She was quick and the food was piping hot. However, neither could compensate for the overall bland food. I won't be back if I can help it. :(

Very very good. Portuguese sausage. Yes. Friendly staff. Spacious place. Toast comes out first which I enjoyed. Portuguese omelet (linguica sausage, tomato, onion, cheese) and tasty home fries with side of dark rye toast My breakfast partner loved loved his French toast Will be coming back to this rozzie square spot

They do NOT follow covid regulations. None of the employees in the kitchen are wearing a mask. I had major anxiety over the whole food safety issue and didn't want to be awkward so we ordered small dishes to nibble on and leave. The breakfast is extremely sub par. Would've had better breakfast at ihop. Pick the worse cook in your family and ask them to throw together breakfast for the fam, that's what this tasted like. Will never ever go here and would never recommend it to anyone. Waitress is friendly, only one waitress doing orders and bringing food when we were there.

I honestly come here several times a year & it does the trick but I'm starting to feel like I should just spend my money elsewhere. The scrambled eggs with cheese never has melted cheese on it. Its like the toss a slice on cheese on it right before they bring it out. Then today I get lunch for the first time so I get the prosciutto panini (without the prosciutto) so basically a mozzarella tomato pesto panini. 1. Its not a panini its just toasted bread 2. The cheese isn't even melted. 3. Half of it is cheese and the other half is pesto & tomato. Makes no sense. I used to really like this place but I'm probably just not going to come anymore. Giving it 3 stars cause almost all the food actually tastes good and it's inexpensive but thats really it.

Omelette was good. Home fries are too soft. Coffee is horrible. Service was ok. They only take cash... who carries cash.

*zero stars* Slow service, burnt omelets and tasteless food make this place a must-not-try. Remove it from any list you have. Honestly, they somehow managed to remove the flavor from everything we ate. Potatoes? Flavorless. Pancakes? Flavorless. Linguica? Must have been cooked, refrigerated, reheated 12 times because guess what? Flavorless. It's pretty difficult to screw up breakfast but they've had 30 years to figure it out.

HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM OWNER. AND NOT TO MENTION HIS DIRTY ASS APRON. I WOULD NOT GO BACK AFTER THE RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE OWNER. I came here all the time to order breakfast omelettes. They are over priced, and charge extra for syrup, but the food was convenient for me. I came here today and ordered an omelette. I asked for everything to be cooked well done, and my bacon was undercooked. When I brought it back to the restaurant, they asked if I wanted my money back, but I said very nicely that they could either give me the money back or just give me a side of well cooked bacon. The owner got an attitude with me and said that he gave me extra bacon so I can have my money back and do not come back to the restaurant. I let him know that I didn't ask for extra bacon, I asked for well done. I wouldn't want to go back given the trauma I now have of eating raw bacon in my omelette.
