Black and White Cafe

Cute mom & pop shop that my nephew and his girlfriend made me aware of. Highly recommend that you call and make reservations as the space is very small. It also is possible that if you arrive later on before they close for the day, they will run out of certain items (we went around 9:30 am and they already were out of waffles) and by the time we left, all of the breakfast items were gone sans pastries and drinks so brunch was the only other option.Everything is made to order so pack your patience. We did come on Father's Day and were immediately told the wait for food would be 45 mins or so from when we placed our order. There were two issues I had with the service, the first being that it was Father's Day, there were only 2 servers and some large parties. The second is that while we were informed there was a 45 min wait from when we ordered our food, our server took our drink order and then we easily waited another 20 mins or so before she even came back to take our food order. While we understood the wait on the food preparation, we felt that was too long to wait simply to take our food order.I preferred the vanilla latte which was very tasty along with the buttermilk pancakes: The pancakes are AHMAZING. I've never had pancakes crispy on the outside like they were but very light and fluffy. They actually tasted and reminded me of funnel cake which I love.Overall, I enjoyed this breakfast spot. Definitely worth returning to.

I recently visited for breakfast and had a great experience. The Norwegian Benedict was delicious, the salmon was amazing. My dates Florentine Benedict was equally impressive. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed morning meal. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was clean. Overall, I recommend B&W for a tasty and satisfying breakfast.

Smoked Turkey sandwich ($16) was massive and comes with a side. I got a breve latte with coconut which I also enjoyed. Solid cafe. Seating inside, and outside. Breakfast served 7 to 11:30, and lunch served 11:30 to 2. My waitress was very sweet and patient as I decided.

This is a small cafe with limited seating. There are 6 four-person tables with no standing or sitting waiting area inside but there were 2-3 chairs outside to wait. The inside decor seemed dated and sort of hodgepodge thrown together. When we were there, at least, it wasn't that loud of a place which was a big pro. Neither of us enjoy a really rowdy or loud breakfast spot so it was nice to find more of a chill-vibed place. When we arrived, all inside seating was full so we sat outside (they have about 4-5 tables outside as well), but it was rainy and chilly, so people were deciding to wait for an inside table instead of eating outside, or leave instead of wait. There were no heaters which would have made outdoor eating more enjoyable. Several of the tables had umbrellas but not all. The servers were realistic. They were friendly and tried to be as accommodating as they could be. They recognize the restaurant is small and tried to get us in as quickly as possible. They made up for the above in great food and good portions. Half the people left with to-go containers. The food was good. We heard compliments from other guests, "Tell the chef this food was delicious." And I agree. I could taste all of the components of my dish. Everything had a pleasant flavor and nothing was overpowering. One other con I suppose is I don't understand having large coffee cups with such small handles. I have a hard time picking them up and it feels like the cup is going to break off from the handle. It's not a cheap cup, but it is impractical. I think had the weather been less rainy and a bit warmer, we would have eaten and enjoyed sitting outside. Clean bathrooms.

Great local breakfast place. Large portions. Very nice and friendly staff. Great ambiance and self seating.

Food was fresh and so good! Also took 2 amazing pastries to go! Will definitely go back

We had a fantastic breakfast! The coffee was excellent and the atmosphere was great. It was pretty early and I don't think all of the staff had come in yet because it took a while to get our food, but it was worth the wait.

We have visited this little hole in the wall cafe 3 times in the last 2 months. We thought we had found a special little cafe. We love their food, esp the pancakes, potatoes and coffee. It is a small cafe however and they are usually busy on Saturday mornings, and they won't let you wait for a table inside in the A/C. You must wait outside in the summer sun and heat. Also, mind you this is our 3rd time visiting this cafe, today one of the servers informed us, that because my husband had already had 3 refills of his coffee cup, there would be an extra cup charge for each refill from now on. We had never been told this in our previous visits. In fact last visit we were offered a full cup of coffee to go without an extra charge. There is nothing on the menu or their chalkboard coffee menu, that states only 3 refills when dining in. Very disappointed in this stance. Most cafe/restaurants in Phoenix offer bottomless refills on their coffee when dining in. Hopefully this was just one server having a bad day and making her own rules.

Hidden Gem. My husband and I stopped in breakfast. I had one of the egg Benedict dishes. BEST I EVER HAD. The pancakes were amazing. 100% recommend this wonderful establishment. The staff/customer service was amazing, excellent and attentive.
