I like this place a lot. Upstairs for more formal (parents in town, business dinners), downstairs for brunch or a quick bite. Prices are more reasonable upstairs in my opinion, food is always good and reliable. Ambiance is nice and servers are genuinely servers, they do a great job. We also hosted a private event here and I would say their communication was a 7/10. They stress you out quite a bit until the day of the event and then they overdeliver on service and attention. good problem I guess!

Excellent service, food and ambiance. It was a perfect evening. Went with a group of colleagues after a long conference day and could not have had a better experience! We started with the Oysters Mignonette and Fois Gras. I had a 'Oui Chef' cocktail that was simply delightful. We also ordered a truffle flat bread that was reported to be amazing, too.For main courses we ordered the Bouillabaisse, a filet and a steak frites. All were simply lovely! We were so full but ordered dessert anyway; the chocolate soufflé and Creme Brûlée which were both amazing, but we could not finish them. The service was impeccable too.

We went back for my birthday yes and had the seasonal chefs tasting menu. I would 1000% recommend that you have this. It was course after course of amazingly delicious and thoughtfully plated dishes. Everything was perfectly portioned and was perfect. I have had ALOT of chefs tasting menus in my day and this would be in the top 3. I cannot name every ingredient that came with every dish but all I can tell you is that they were delicious. For starters we had the chefs amuse bouche - single oyster but tons of flavor. I cannot name you all the ingredients that went into it but it was delicious. Second we the black sea bass tar tar with yuzu, so refreshing. Third we had perfect butter poached lobster on steamed asparagus, the sauce was unbelievably good. My friend finished the lobster and wiped the plate clean of the sauce with bread. Fourth seared foise gras on top of I believe banana bread with banana on the side? I didn't have much, just a taste since I don't eat it but my friends tell me it was delicious as well. Fifth - a healthy bowl of fresh made pasta topped with a large amount of fresh truffles. So light. So good! 6th my friends had the wagu with eggplant tots and I had the halibut since again I don't eat meat. Both were incredible.Last but not least a beautiful peach dessert. Outside was a shell made of peach and inside was a delicious fresh made "ice cream?" With peach compote I believe? So highly recommended. I can't wait to go back!

I went here for dine out boston and did the $55 pp 3-course dinner. I started with the arugula salad and really loved it. It came with the freshest ingredients and such a good variety of little fruits and vegetables chopped up in there. My main was the tortellini and it was very small but so so delicious. The portion size worked out well as part of the 3 course meal but it would not have been enough food otherwise. Lastly I finished the night with the crème brûlée as my dessert. That was quite good as well, and a rather large portion. I sat upstairs which they describe as a more upscale experience than the downstairs part of the restaurant. Our table was by a window that was overlooking the boston common which was cool. I didn't love my raspberry lime Rickey cocktail, but because I loved everything else, this is a five star experience for me.

We were there recently to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent- we especially love the Bouillabaisse. Our waiter was attentive and made us feel welcome. We appreciate the birthday chocolate soufflé and the complimentary digestif drinks. The Bistro was relatively busy on a theatre night but noise level is reasonable. We will definitely come back.

We just had a wonderful dinner at Bistro du Midi. The food was uncommonly delicious. There were flavors in the dishes which were uncommon, remarkable and amazing. The staff was attentive, engaging and informative. Roland, our server, was especially fantastic. He really made the experience special. We were "celebrating" a really nice day at the end of Summer where we just wanted to be out, in the city, people watching, having great food and enjoying each other and this was a great place to do all of that. We're already scheduled to go back for the Trimbach event on Sept. 10th!

The filet mignon was excellent, but actually the cheaper hanger steak of the steak frites was the star of the show! The truffle fries and truffle mashed potatoes were excellent, along with the chocolate soufflé. Beautiful patio with gorgeous begonias. Our server, Juan, was very attentive. Highly recommend.Update- we loved it so much the first time that we came back. This time we both ordered the burger. It was fine. The fries weren't the same delicious truffle fries that came with the steak frites and our waiter hardly ever came around. After we finished and they cleared our plates it probably took him around twenty minutes to stop by again. He didn't even have a check with him. I guess it is hit and miss.

I don't have access to good French food where I live and I used to live in Paris so I am always looking for good options when I am traveling. On arrival I desperately looked for a French bistro I could try out, and this did not disappoint.

Bistro du Midi is my favorite restaurant in Boston. In the first place, the main dining room, on the second floor, is as cozy, warm, and inviting as your grandma's kitchen, assuming grandma was a woman of means with impeccable taste. It is elegant, inviting, cozy, and impeccable all at once, and is the perfect harbinger of the food to come. Attention to detail is the hallmark of Bistro du Midi. Where else do you have an elevator to go from the first floor to the second, and fitted with a pair of arm chairs, just in case they are needed? In which other restaurant can you find table lamps improvised out of wine glasses, with hand made shades fashioned out of wall paper? You might find such lamps in your grandma's house, if, in addition to her being a woman of means with impeccable taste, she is creative, and determined to get every tiny detail just right. The wait staff at Bistro du Midi is unobtrusive, efficient, cheerful, and, possibly able to read minds. At least that is my impression.Oh, and they serve food. There is little point in recommending one dish over another here, because they are all flawless. I like to have their roast chicken, just because it is perfectly cooked. You might think that anyone can cook chicken, but you would be wrong. Think about it. How often, even at grandma's, are you served chicken that is neither overdone, nor underdone, and on which even the breast meat is ineffably tender and moist? The duck is pretty good, too. For that matter, so are the shrimp, and the filet mignon, and the tuna tartare. The point is, you can't go wrong. Just go there, and tell the wait person to bring you dinner.
