Nearing the end of a trip to celebrate a family member's graduation, we wanted something convenient to eat. The menu was diverse with Halibut, Ribeye, and even Lamb chops showcased on their dinner menu. We were excited to see what they had to offer in the Hilton hotel known globally for its prestige.Upon entering the dining room, we noticed that there weren't enough chairs for a party our size (5 people). Most of the seats were barstool height and, with 3 elderly individuals in our group, sitting that high off the ground wouldn't be feasible and potentially dangerous. The staff were able to round up the only 2 normal tables and squeeze them together for us.When ordering drinks, one party member requested a coffee. They were told that they "don't serve coffee" and for us to walk over to the reception to purchase a k-pod and brew it ourselves, at $2 a pop.I ordered a "traditional, authentic" caesar salad that, upon arrival, was actually a GRILLED caesar salad (I can hear Gordon Ramsey spewing insults from afar) that was certainly a means of hiding its lack of freshness. After looking over the menu, we began to order entrees when, wouldn't you know it, they were out 7 of the 9 entrees listed, even the special! Soup of the day? Tortilla. After the orders came out... Nope! It's actually meatball soup!Ribeye steak came out with a broken red wine reduction sauce and, for those who know how terrible it is to break an alcoholic sauce, it tasted like a sharp (cheap) red wine without the alcohol removed, with an oily mouth feel. The mashed potatoes were, oh yes, you guessed it, instant mash from a box! After attempting to muster down each component of the caesar salad to see if anything could be salvaged, it was left on the plate, resembling a full order. Not only did none of the servers question or even acknowledge this, they spent the majority of their time standing in the doorway of the kitchen gawking and gossiping. The point of this review is not to condemn the staff, but it's simply to point out that there is fantastic food in the area that should be elected ahead of this current establishment. All in all, the food reflects a chef that has given up and I sincerely hope they find their way back to purpose of being a master at their craft - to enrich the lives of their guests through the culinary experience.

This was the second time we ate here and the food was just as great as the first time. The chef is truly talented. The only thing that lacked was the service. There was no official server on duty, and it was a Friday evening. There were about four tables occupied by diners so you would think there would be at minimum one server, but no it was the bartender. So that meant the bar was getting most of her attention and ours was lacking. We will still eat here because the food is just that good, but if you want quicker service you will have to sit at the bar.

FYI, this place is at the Hilton Garden Hotel location. I mean we were grateful they have this restaurant because the hotel is off the beaten path. I mean you probably can get something quick out there but it will take you at least 10-15min drive. But this will work great if you check in to the hotel and didn't want to go anywhere far or drive out. This place is pretty substantial they have drinks, wine, decent food enough for staying in for the night a drinks. Good place for a quick bite and head up to the room and got ready for our night out which is what my friends and I did. Great services. If we stayed at the hotel again yes, I would have some snacks and drinks.

Joke of a place, bad service, bad food, nobody around to help, seems more like a cafeteria that was in back to the future, piece of advice...go somewhere else, Del Mar has better options.

Came here for my free breakfast as a Hilton Honors Diamond member. I was underwhelmed. The self-serve buffet options available were minimal. Additionally, the items available to order from the menu were meh at best.I ordered the eggs Benedict, which came out in like three minutes but gas sets like nothing. I'm pretty sure everything is pre-cooked behind the counter and they just scoop what you order onto a plate. At other HGI restaurants, they make the items fresh.

Shocking high quality Mexican breakfast at a Hilton Garden Inn. They offer $12.95 breakfast that includes the cooked to order breakfast and buffet selection of fruits, pastries, waffles, and drinks.

This is the place to go if you're searching for a pub restaurant in the heart of town with excellent cuisine and service. I would give them 10/5 stars if I could, but I only have 5. This is the place to visit with your friends.

Surprisingly delightful for a Hilton Garden Inn lobby restaurant! There didn't seem to be other walkable options for me when I got in late so I reluctantly sat down at Bistro 39 to eat "something, anything" before bed. Wow, was I in for a treat. There was a server at my side immediately with a glass of water. The menu had interesting choices, from bar treats to a full meal ribeye steak. I decided to go with a couple of appetizers. The first to arrive was the pork belly brussels sprouts - fresh quality veggies, generous portion, tasty, but just a tad undercooked. Then the stuffed mushrooms arrived and I thought I had died and gone to flavor heaven. Best mushrooms I have ever tasted and possibly a top 20 dish I have ever eaten. I will order those every time I visit San Diego for the rest of my life. Water glass stayed filled, check came and went on time. It was a very quality experience and I will definitely come back again.
