Bishop's Southern Cuisine

The meatloaf was pretty good but that mac & cheese was as dry as a bone. The meat was a little raw inside but it's probably related to the thickness of the meatloaf, which sometimes happens.The meatloaf was a good portion size but for $15 I would expect two side orders to come with the meal instead of one. It seems a bit pricey for meatloaf and mac & cheese.

I found this restaurant on Uber eats and babyyyy let me tell you I am so happy I ordered!! I am a foodie and I am highly critical of food but this Jerk chicken literally fell off the bone, rice was cooked not hard and not mushy perfect for eating hot and reheating for later, the corn bread was exactly what you imagine when you ask for southern cornbread not too sweet and not dry like your grandma made it, the GREENSSSSS ahh just melted in my mouth. If you want good southern food just pop in and give it a try Im definitely visiting this restaurant and 10/10 recommend it to everyone!!

I had been referred by a family member She had 2 LG pieces of catfish but I wanted the jerk chicken. I've never had authentic jerk chicken however I was told by the cashier that jerk was spicy. So I ordered the 2 piece fried catfish. It came with rice and a choice of one side. I was disappointed that I couldn't substitute it for another veggie as I don't eat rice often. However was told Rice and beans was an option so I opted for that Instead because of the beans. My side was green beans. I was very disappointed with the R&B; it was mostly brown rice. The catfish appeared to be 1 large piece cut in half. It was seasoned well. I was offered gravy or jerk sauce for theR&B. The jerk sauce was mostly oily with a slight hint of flavor. I tossed all but the fish and green beans. It cost me $20 for this plate. I was very disappointed. The ambiance I liked. The cashier was pleasant. I was the only person there when I ordered so the wait wasn't long. I wish them luck but I don't think I will be returning.

Everything about this restaurant said "winner" except the most important part, the food. The restaurant was well appointed. The staff was pleasant but the food was poor. I was excited to try the fried ribs. Uggh! It had a strange taste. They served it over white rice. So the sauce (can hardly call it BBQ sauce) was absorbed by the rice. The collard greens were tepid and seasoned with strange seasonings. Needless to say, I didn't eat most of my food. The $22 I spent should best be considered a contribution to the Bishop's ministry. I can't imagine coming back. If only the food matched the decor and the advertising- oh well.

Bishop's is a new place in the neighborhood and they put a flyer on my car in the Kroger parking lot so I thought I'd stop by on my way home. I got the oxtails and lima beans with their pineapple lemonade. The oxtails were small but very tender and served with white rice. The sauce was a little thick. The lima beans were very tender with great flavor but a little salty. The service was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself was very flat and could use a Womens touch since it lacked personality however they haven't been open that long so maybe that will come with time. They're off to a good start and I look forward to trying something different.

So I was scrolling through Uber eats and saw the name Bishop's and thought to myself why not! When I saw the Pork Souse I was ready to order everything on the menu. I am from Miami and I missed it so much. The souse was full of fat, they did not take out the fat like you should see pics below. I can't eat it! I am so disappointed. I was looking forward to this. Turkey wing with mac and cheese, cornbread, and rice! Well, the turkey wing was small but flavorful, the mac and cheese was off and so very dry, the cornbread was good, and my rice had no gravyHaitian Griot Platter is DELICIOUS!!!!!!! I had it with cabbage, rice and beans with plantains and extra pikliz! Fried pork chops were great and very flavorful

Not sure why this place has the bad reviews. I ate lunch here today, and got the pork chops with rice and beans, and Lima beans. The pork chops were really good, and so we're the rice and beans. The Lima beans came out cold in the middle, but they brought me out a hot bowl as soon as I said something. That was my reason for not giving five stars. The lady at the counter was nice and answered all my questions. There were kids in the dining area but they did not bother me while eating. They say at a table and we're well behaved. I will definitely be back here for lunch, especially with it being so close to my office.

I ordered the turkey necks, red beans and rice, green beans and cornbread. And for the first during my residency in Houston, I found a soul food/southern cuisine restaurant that I enjoyed. Being a Florida man

I've had great exeriences ordering through UberEats and directly for pick-up. They only have oxtail on certain days as a special - but I highly recommend!! They are so tender and flavorful. Another winner is the fried catfish. There are not many restaurants where you can get fried catfish done right. At Bishop's, they use real catfish and it is well seasoned and fried fresh to order. I like to get the catfish and wings combo basket. Meatloaf and turkey wings are winners too. Customer service is superb too which is a huge plus for me. Looking forward to trying the other interesting menu items soon!

I just moved to Houston like a week ago and tried this location. They are brand new and I didn't know what to expect. First things first, TRY THE PINEAPPLE LEMONADE ! I tasted it while I was waiting for my food and immediately knew I was hooked, straight delicious! Then I tried the wings, they breaded fried crispy and covered in bomb honey bbq sauce (but if you're boring you can get them plain.) I was raised by a chef and I'm a bbq snob, their sauce is almost as good as mine and that's facts! Next, they shrimp is ridiculously flavorful top 5 best shrimp I've ever had. And last but most certainly not least, this place had a special of the day, DEEP! FRIED! SALMON! It was flawless!!!!!! I got mine covered in boss lady sauce cause I'm a boss lady and it made me feel things in places. The salmon was juicy and flakey. The breading was crispy and seasoned, the sauce was spicy and somewhat sweet. It's was straight FIRE! I will be back. It's over a half hour away from where I'm staying but I will be back. If they are reading this review, please partner with Uber eats or Postmates, gas is high. I'm still coming back, but help a sister out with delivery.
