Bishop's Meat and Three

This place was 10/10 no questions asked. We had a large party, so we pretty much had the whole menu. There is nothing I wouldn't order again. The place was clean and neat. The prices were so reasonable

While I landed at 4 stars, my true rating would be 3.5, and here is why...Nostalgic southern spot in Franklin next to the Chick-Fil-A. I really wanted to love this spot, as a Meat & 3 speaks to my soul...however, I was underwhelmed here. I popped in for lunch and ordered the Fried Catfish with fried okra, mac n cheese, and rice casserole. What struck me initially was the portion size - only one piece of catfish, which was below average in size. While the sides were decently portioned, the main dish left a bit to be desired.The catfish and okra were disappointingly dry and chewy, lacking the crispiness and tenderness that I look for in fried southern classics. The mac n cheese was sadly watery and thin, however the chicken, broccoli and rice casserole was solid, and of course the sweet tea was sweet! Service was stellar, as you would expect at a southern joint.While my first go was a bit underwhelming, I am comitted to stopping back by for another round of meats and veggies...as I don't give up on a good southern spot so easily!

Great food and quick and great service. Very clean place. Great southern buffet will come back again.

They still got it! Stopped in for lunch and it was delicious! Shared a Meat & Three Plate with my S.O.:Fish Almondine: delicious as always - perfectly fried and great tartar sauce! Generous portion.Mac & Cheese: It's okay, not the best I have had but okay.Pinto Beans: very good as always - good flavor and not greasy.Carrot Soufflé: a must! Delicious and well seasoned!Dinner Roll: Always good - fresh and delicious!All in all - another great visit! Busy as always and still great customer service!

Is this what authentic southern cooking tastes like?I'm from San Francisco, so I wouldn't claim to know southern food as well as anyone from the south. I can say that the fried chicken was tender with crispy skin, the cornbread was moist with a good amount of kick, the Mac and cheese was cheesy and thick, the fries okra had some good crunch and the dressing was super flavorful. All for a little over $13. Much better than the $30 I would need to spend back home!

Total old-school southern potluck vibes. There wasn't an item on my tray that didn't remind me of good food from many years ago. As such, as a kid/teen I would have never wanted to go out to eat something like this as it wouldn't have seemed to be "restaurant food" to me but now, years later--hey, I don't cook like this and I don't frequent potlucks. So this is comfort food, nostalgia food, and food crafted with care. It's served cafeteria style, but everything was piping hot. I noticed some items (entrees, none of the sides as all seemed to be present) listed on the day's menu that weren't on the buffet and as first-time diners here we weren't sure if you could actually still order them or if once they're gone, they're gone. Anyway--I had the fried chicken (breast quarter), mashed potatoes and gravy, carrot souffle, mac'n'cheese, and a slice of jalapeno cornbread. My spouse had the same (minus the gravy and cornbread) and we split a piece of the fudge pie. Really great mac, the carrot souffle was interesting (but good) and tasted/textured as if sweet potatoes might be mixed in as well. Cornbread had great flavor. Chicken was piping hot. That fudge pie reminded me of the kind my grandmother made when I was little and I've not had it since. If I make it back, I want to try the hot chicken and the okra. Service was super friendly and welcoming.Would be a great carryout spot if I lived in the neighborhood. Only "negatives" I can think of-- totally get not wanting to use real glassware and plates in a location like this, but truly hate styrofoam. Something else would be nice. Prices--maybe a tic (10%?) higher than anticipated (without waitservice, etc.) but hopefully that just means staff are paid fairly. We were so hungry and hate so quickly I completely forgot to take a photo, other than the cup after the plates were clean!

Food: Very good home-style southern comfort food! You choose along a cafeteria style line and carry a tray of food to your table. We enjoyed the southern fried chicken -some chose the hot chicken, too. The sides are a stand out for. Ring simple and tasty. We enjoyed the green beans, the cucumber salad, the carrot casserole (actually almost dessert-like in its texture and spices), mac-n-cheese, ad black eyed peas. We were looking forward to a piece of pie but we had to settle for another day because we tried the meat and 3 so we had no room left. Next time we can try the meat and 2sides so we can try either pecan or chocolate pie, banana pudding, or peach cobbler. Service -counter service was pleasant and quick Location -easy to find in a busy shopping are Ambiance -casual Facility -clean, fairly new, few tables indoors and done outdoor . Adequate parking in large shopping area lot.

Wife and I doordashed Bishops tonight, and it felt like we had a home cooked meal.We got some tenders, broccoli chicken rice casserole, and a few sides, and they all hit.Would love to go in and try them fresh, but even a 30 minute delivery didn't take away on how good the food was.Can't wait to dine in one day! Amazing place!

Good ol' Southern Meat and Three. The fried chicken is juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside- super tasty! All our sides were delish- especially the squash casserole. And the staff were very helpful and nice in helping with my elderly mom.

Cafe Style, meat & 3, with roll or jalapeño cornbread? Yes please!Fast, friendly, clean, homecooked goodness... reasonably priced as well.
