Birdseye Rooftop Restaurant and Bar

Thoroughly impressed by Birdseye! Of course the view is one for the postcards, but the food and drinks are well worth the stair climb.I honestly was just expecting to have some fabulous cocktails on a pet-friendly rooftop with a gorgeous view of the ocean, but the mussels + fries and the blackened salmon really blew my tastebuds away. I've never had aioli on mussels and now I never want to go back to a basic butter or wine sauce! The flavor was so rich and it was delightful to dip the french fries in the aioli too. The blackened salmon was perfectly seasoned and each bite was so juicy with the mango pico.The mojito flight was crisp and refreshing, perfect to cool off with on a hot sunny day. Each flavor was better than the next, loved every single one--strawberry, pineapple, dragonfruit & lime.The staff is pretty young, were all friendly, quick to clear plates/drinks and they even provided a water bowl for our pup. My only complaint is I felt the music was a bit loud, so it's much more of a fun upbeat party vibe rather than an intimate date type of setting. Also, they only have 1 bathroom.I'm excited to come back for another invigorating rooftop hang with friends!

Food was okay. Drink was good but overpriced. Views were pretty. Takes no reservations so if you're looking for a sunset at this rooftop show up early. We had over an hour wait. I don't mind paying more for exceptional food but again, the food was just meh. Our waitress was very kind. Dog friendly! They brought out a water bowl for my friend's dog! Ordered: Pesto pasta with Salmon ($29)Green ? Something. Mezcal drink ($19).

I'm giving Birdseye a 4-star rating instead of 5 primarily due to the wait time. My family and I spent the day in La Jolla celebrating my sister-in-law's birthday and decided to visit Birdseye for drinks and the scenic view. Upon arrival, we checked in with the hostess who informed us of an hour wait--understandable given the busy atmosphere. However, after receiving the text to return, we waited an additional 30 minutes only to be informed that no one was being seated due to kitchen delays. While this was understandable, I requested seating for drinks, which was declined. We ended up waiting another hour before finally being seated.The restaurant itself is quite small, possibly connected to the adjacent boutique hotel. We enjoyed margarita flights, ceviche, fried calamari, chips and guac, pepperoni flatbread, and grilled shrimp tacos--all delicious and fresh. The drinks, especially the guava margarita despite using a different tequila, were also tasty. Our waiter provided excellent service, being attentive throughout our visit.

This rooftop restaurant is located at a hotel but it has a separate entrance on the right side. My friend and I came here around noon on a weekday and got seated right away. We sat by the edge. It was the perfect view of the ocean. We started off with the mojito and margaritas flights. I think that's what the place is known for. It was fruity and refreshing. The dragonfruit was my favorite flavor. For the appetizer we got the mussels and fries. You need to get this. The sauce was so goood and it was a great dipping sauce for the fries. My friend got the wagyu burger and enjoyed it. I got the ribeye sandwich. The steak was too juicy that it made the bread very soggy. It wasn't enjoyable to eat. I would skip this.

Super cute brunch spot if you're looking for a quick meal & drink! Love the balcony terrace ambiance with the view of the water & service was excellent. Ordered some calamari & tacos that was yummy. And had to get the margarita flights, the guava was definitely my favorite!

My first time visiting and absolutely loved my first experience. They had the crispiest calamari and most delish bbq chicken flatbread. I thought the food was fantastic but def pricey for bar food. Mojito flight was amazing and just good vibes all around!! Will def be back

Great ambiance and friendly service, however the food is absolutely terrible. We ordered 4 steaks medium rare and all of them came out near well done. I was hungry and in a rush so I just had to eat it lol

What more could you ask for, great service, great view AND even greater alcohol. Next time I'll try the food.

Ambiance here is awesome! Great location and beautiful views atop this rooftop patio. Unfortunately that's sort of where the buck stops with this place. Service took FOREVER for me and my fiancée who were just ordering drinks and apps. We were promised menus but after waiting 10 minutes ended up scavenging them from another table because no one came by. We finally were able to put in our drink order (a mule and a spicy marg). These took a while to come out as well. They were good but not great. They weren't even busy either - tons of open tables on the evening we went. Our chips and guac/salsa came out and were fine. About what you'd expect in terms of flavor (hard to screw up) but the portion wasn't great for being $16. How is chips and guac $16?! Focaccia was amazing - made in house and comes out warm. A fun place to come once and then never again because for the price, there's better views and better drinks/food. Especially in La Jolla.

Come here for the views and flights! We had the mojito flight, 3 to chose from. Caprese Sandwhich was huge. Enough for 2 ppl. Loved the live garden walls and the views are immaculate. They also have HH. Our server Travis was very nice & friendly.Gave us recommendations for our visit.
