Billy's Pit BarBQ

Just average bbq that is overpriced. One of the employees touched their face (eye or nose, can't remember) and grabbed slices of bread afterwards. I ended up tossing the bread and just asking another employee for more. I had been here a few times over dozen years, and it's not as good as when I first had it years ago. The owner is still there and active in day to day operations. I won't be back. There's lots more bbq joints with higher standards.

If you're ever in the area and get a hankering for some of the absolute best barbecue in Texas, I highly recommend you stop by Billy's and try out what he's cooking! Great food, all the sides and even dessert, if you still have room for it!! You won't be disappointed!

Stopped at this place by happenstance. Best decision ever!!! Great food and a cozy relaxed atmosphere. Friendly service. Melt in your mouth beef! Wish it wasn't so far away.

Hubby and I Ate there for the first time last month and we really enjoyed it. Brisket was very moist. The ribs were awesome too call off the bone great!

I quit going after Billy passed away but recently went back and learned that they are still smoking their meats the way Billy taught them. Great quality, fantastically friendly staff and all at a great price. Won't be going anywhere else for good quality food and a smile.

Definition of, hole in the wall, and down home country cookin!!My entire family wanted to try this place and between my two brothers we have decided to use their catering service for the Super Bowl party this year! They have amazing stuffed baked potatoes and an excellent homemade sausage. Doesn't matter the side it'll be what you want and the atmosphere is for big families or date night. Highly recommend! The food here is incredible. Not only the best BBQ in Bastrop, some of the best BBQ I've every tried. Better than any from Lockhart for sure. Forget the sauce, pickles, and onions; the brisket and turkey are so good plain. There are nicer restaurants, but Billy's is clean, well lit, and comfortable. The folks working there are so nice and helpful. This is THE go to place in Bastrop. Can't wait to go back to try the mutton!

Solid. It's like going to someone's house for a bbq. solid. This is more old school bbq. Not your craft bbq that's taken over Central Texas.Ribs (and potato salad) are solid. Brisket and sausage would not be my choice here.

I've been going to this place for about 30 years. The owner Bully was a sweet soul with brilliant blue eyes. His daughter and her husband run it now. She's sweet just like her daddy was! The food is sooo good! Brisket, baked potatoes, sausage, and OMG their potato salad is my fave! Plenty of seating and feels like home.
