two words: GO HERE! more words: first went here roughly seven years ago in the before times and also before i moved from chicago to minnesota (west burbs of mpls). already a fan of billy sunsun (this is not a nickname far as i know but maybe should be!?) from the first experience w a mentor friend of mine with rather discerning cocktail taste, if you excuse his insistence on "Malörtifying" every drink whenever and wherever and however and to whomever possible. yes, he's Gen X and YES he's a pastor...lol.fast forward to last friday and WOW, dis gin joint (really a multi spirited joint kinda place) has GOT IT GOIN ONNNNNN and then... sum! Noelle, the lead bartender, was the first to greet me; fortuitous blessing this was bc a) getting to meet and know the head bartender is just downright helpful, if not fun -- and hopefully both!b) per the above, Noelle was gracious, funny, knowledgeable af, patient, honest, and perhaps most important of all at least imo when it comes to the biznass of Drankin': creative and open minded in terms of recommending and realtime coming up with drink creations and suggestions. i could go on and on, including how i was on a first sort-of-blind date that ended up being way fun (tho we agreed to "just be pals" and i am ok with this) TMI. tl; dr -- BILLY SUNDAY NEVER DIDNT NOT FAIL TO IMPRESS LET ALONE INSPIRE. go there and transport yourself to a world of delicious imbibation. p.s. their drink w like 6 alcohols including baijiu (chinese rice wine aka hard liquor BOOZE ) is delightful and packs a PUNCH of abv. drink carefully and responsibly, please! plan ahead and just don't drive here if consuming alc. support rideshare / public transport / your limbs or make your friend who owes you one be your dd, preferably someone you want to fade out cuz who would make a true friend DD from BS!!!

Nice cocktail bar. Creative menu, high quality drinks, nice atmosphere. Old Fashioned - 4/5. Rabarbaro is the feature of the drink, which was fun to try but not my personal favorite version of an old fashioned. But well made and balanced. True Love's Flame - 4/5. My wife is very hit and miss on cocktails and liked it! Felt like an elevated Bailey's cocktail.

TL; DR: Strong drinks, great for conversations, & ambience is moody (darker)This is a great place for some fancier drinks (that won't completely break the bank) and conversations. I was able to sip on drink, enjoy the bar, and the company. I would go back and try more drinks again. Anne's Garden is delicious if you like spice!

One of my favorite bars in chicago, especially when they have their Silent Reading nights. The staff is friendly and the cocktails are always interesting. The vibe is dark and spooky-ish, and the music is usually great.

WHAT A FIND! Had no idea it existed. We were walking past to check out happy hour at a spot nearby and as soon as we saw Billy Sunday we knew we would have to stop in.It's such a cute spot, loved the vintage decor, the vibe was great, wonderful ambient lighting and man-- their bottle collection was fantastic! This place is the real deal with bartenders who actually know what they are doing and have the knowledge to back it up.Love my drink the Kent and the non alcoholic I had after that-- strawberry handshake. They actually put effort into their mocktails. My husband loves both of his-- the sekki Negroni & the Victorian. We shared the duck mousse which was fabulous, especially the crackers that came with and close it out with the puppy chow! Highly recommend this spot and really can't explain what a fantastic experience we had.

This place is a gem. Had some time to kill before a dinner reservation near by and had the good fortune of stopping in. It was quiet and lovely design/ ambiance. Ordered a scribbled note and that might just be the best cocktail I've ever had. High praise as I travel extensively and love a well balanced cocktail. Chatted with Carly and Kirsten and they had excellent recommendations for our time in the city. Had to pop by one last time before leaving town a few days later to thank them and soak up the vibe. A bit busier on a Friday night- but everyone in the bar was sweet and friendly and relaxed. They really cultivate a lovely clientele. Can't recommend highly enough.

Went to happy hour here and got the rubhard spritz and a shot! It was a fun vibe! Didn't love the drink, but an easy place to get into and good service. Also good happy hour even on a Saturday!

This place has some really upscale drinks for a very sophisticated palate. Not your average drinks. The vibe was great, nice atmosphere good music and the servers were very helpful with recommendations. I will come back here and try more drinks from the menu. Heads up, this place serves small plates, no entrees so I had to go grab food elsewhere when I was done with my drinks.

I just love this bar. This is where I go (and hope to see Jeff) when I'm sad or happy. Great cocktails, pretty good service at the bar of at the tables. The service is why we kept coming back. It's not your neighborhood bar really but it's certainly the best cocktail bar. Dark wood and a lot of character. Do get yourself a delicious Amaro Daiquiri!

Try the penicillin. Heck try anything. They know how to mix a high end drink here. Sit outside. Like too many places in this neighborhood they try to overcompensate for genuine vibes with very loud music.
