We came here for the first time yesterday. We sat outside and scanned a QR code for the menu. We ordered...The Dragon Roll: this roll was fresh, creamy and spicy.Unagi Temptation: this was very simple and light but flavorful. It complimented the other parts of our order well. It was simple and fresh. I have never had green beans in a sushi roll before! While I would not have thought that would work, it totally does. The star of the show was the calamari. The calamari we had here is what all calamari should aspire to be. This was a tangy, spicy orange experience. It was tangy, spicy, and left a citrusy aftertaste. The sauce that came with it was wonderful too.In a time of COVID-19, they were enforcing masking, distancing and sanitizing. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was both clean and enjoyable. They nailed it and I can't wait to go back!

Updating my review from 2017. So it's been a few years since I have been back to Billy Beach, and sadly I would have to say they have gone downhill over the years. My friend was in town and suggested we go here, and I was actually excited because I remembered how good it was. They have cut their happy hour menu and happy hour deals down significantly. There were only 2 rolls on the HH menu, a salmon skin one, and a tempura'd one. I remember they used to have more rolls than that on the happy hour menu! Nothing was "omg this is amazing" good. We ordered:- HH green beans- HH Salmon Kara-age- HH chicken kara-age- HH Happy Crunch Roll- HH 4 pc salmon and tuna nigiri- HH salmon skin roll- super bad boy rollThe breading on the chicken kara-ge was like a fish and chip batter almost, not what it used to be. So disappointed with our visit to Billy Beach. Probably won't be back here any time soon.

Delivery Review: Flew into Seattle late Sunday night. In the mood for sushi. So I ordered some sashimi and rolls from a local place that had 4 stars. While I waited I read some of the more recent reviews. Wish I hadn't and it was too late to cancel. Reviewers said they found hair in the food or had gotten food poisoning. The food was delivered promptly and neatly before the stated time on Yelp Food Status.I opened up the containers and stared at the food. Hmmm...no hair. And the fish looked decent. Rice seemed ok (I'm Asian so I guess I should know). And nothing looked old. Next test....the smell test. The sashimi, salmon, tuna, octopus, scallops and albacore smelled normal (not fishy). Taste test....Hmmmm not bad. And the gyoza and miso soup were average. If i don't get sick later I won't be adding to this review. Would I come back?...why not.

Billy Beach was a hit! With a name like that I wasn't sure what to expect. But my friend was raving about it and when I saw how good the photo of sushi she took I knew I had to go sometime. I was in a mood for some sushi rolls tonight so I ordered a takeout of the beach rainbow roll. The roll included real crab, shrimp tempura, mayo, tobiko, cucumber, avocado, salmon, yellowtail, tuna. The tempura was crunchy and the crab with mayo was awesome and sashimi on top was fresh as well. I'm happy that I found a great sushi place so close to my home. My friend said it's a bit pricey but honestly I don't think it's that bad. I'm excited to take advantage of happy hour menu next time. The staff was nice and it was cool to chat with fellow Japanese people working there who are surprisingly rare in Seattle.

I was let down by Billy Beach. This comes as a disappointment when you see averages. I don't consider myself a sushi snob, but this sushi was just eh...alright and seemed more artisanal. I got the "Turmeric Spicy crispy" which was not too bad. Lots of flavors going on - crispy rice, avocado, ghost and cilantro aioli. It was overall kind of mushy though, and the jalapeño's seem kind of a waste as they aren't really implemented into the rolls, but just on the side. It only kind of lived up to its name and description for me.The rolls are also huge here. Not sure if it's just the particular rolls we got as I think they were specials, but these are BIG. Kind of cool, but I'd rather regular sized easier to pick up and its contents aren't spilling all over the place. The Golden Boy was alright. Simpler, with a nice takuan - pickled radish for kind of a kim-chi -ee flavor with each bite. The best part of the visit were the Crispy deep fried Cauliflower bites which come with a signature karashi cream sauce. Nice and hot, very good. The overall visit though was a letdown beyond presentation. Doubtful this will be THE sushi spot for me.

Places I'd recommend that still exist over Billy Beach in terms of service and food quality from off the top of my head are:-Sam's Sushi (literally a block away, we didn't go there that day because it's closed on Sunday)-Moshi Moshi -Shiku Sushi-Sushi I-Mejari Fusion Sushi (they have a Groupon, check it out)-Wasabi -Japonessa (have a great happy hour)-Momiji -Koibito -Kisaku -Village Sushi -Sushi Blossom-Ten Sushi-Q SushiI've been to every sushi place listed above and will literally recommend anything over Billy Beach moving forward. Even some grocery store sushi isn't that bad, let's be honest.I usually only write on Yelp about fabulous experiences or awful ones. This one is the latter. I went here yesterday, Sunday, August 21st at around 6, but it wasn't my first choice. My first choices were closed. I used to eat sushi almost every day. My sushi consumption has dwindled a bit but I still get sushi at least 1-3 times a week. I'm really not picky when it comes to food quality but if I have a bad experience, then yes, I want others to know so that they don't suffer like I did.I've been going here since high school and always gave it a chance despite several people getting food poisoning. Yeah. Several people I know have gotten food poisoning. I guess that's red flag number one. I had never gotten food poisoning from here (there was a time where I thought I did, see last review) and told myself I'd stop going when I did, but now due to the awful experience I had yesterday, I won't be going here for an entirely different reason. I gave it another chance since my last time and realize, I shouldn't have. This place had a special place in my heart. Had, past tense. I used to go here for happy hour but they've eliminated happy hour. That's fine, that's not what I'll be complaining about. We all know that the pandemic has impacted restaurants and them being understaffed and taking more than an hour to serve the food also wasn't the issue for me here. There was only ONE server for the entire restaurant, both indoor and outdoor seating, and although I can see how it could be an issue for other people and another red flag, getting your food almost an hour and a half after ordering, that wasn't an issue for me.I'm okay with waiting. What I'm not okay with is waiting and listening to a shrieking infant one table over for that whole time. And if you're wondering, no, I didn't choose to sit near an infant. The family chose to sit near me. Due to this, I couldn't enjoy my food with the barrage of constant noise. Although it wasn't every second, the screaming lasted on and off for at least an hour and we actually left before the family left even though they were seated around the same time as us. Not once was the family asked to calm the baby and for some reason, their food came like 15 minutes before ours.Look, I don't blame the kid. I blame the parents 90% and Billy Beach 10% for doing nothing. Somehow Billy Beach has lasted longer than some places that I'd argue were much better, RIP. Oh I guess I should talk about the food itself now. Food was fine and they accommodated a request I made to sub in X for Y, so that was nice. As for the quality, again, multiple people have gotten food poisoning and as of writing this, I don't feel sick. As I said earlier, I also eat and enjoy grocery store sushi so maybe don't take my word for the food quality. It's only the service and atmosphere that I truly feel knowledgeable about and while taste is subjective, you can't debate a bad atmosphere.I hope this review will show the management that their other customers matter and maybe not everyone wants to listen to a wailing siren. I could have left at any time, but I had already put my order in and decided to tough it out. Reminder that it took an hour for the food to arrive so once I had committed, I would have felt worse leaving. I don't care that there was only one server and that the food took over an hour and a half to arrive, I don't care that my friends got food poisoning (eh to an extent) and I don't care that happy hour is gone. What I care about is that no one did anything about the screamer. I've asked other people in the restaurant industry what they'd do if this happened in their restaurant and they told me that if it didn't stop, then they'd ask the people to leave. After all, one lost customer for keeping the other customers sane doesn't seem like a bad trade off. Apparently, Billy Beach didn't want to make that trade and actively chose to let everyone else in the restaurant to suffer. I wasn't the only one disturbed by the noise, trust me.Management, message me if you want to provide a better experience for me, otherwise I'll be taking myself and my friends elsewhere. And even though it's not as much as I used to eat in the past, I still eat a fair amount of sushi.

I'm giving them a five star for their service I would give their food maybe a four-star, the service made up for it that is for sure! The restaurant was extremely busy with one large group and they took half of the restaurant over. I was actually really happy to see that because I knew the server was going to get a big tip. The server was so gracious that she even gave us a free roll to start because it was so busy and she felt awful for the wait. We weren't annoyed and it was so unexpected. The roll she brought was actually my favorite so I'm glad that happened. It was the dragon roll. The inside was so cute and inviting. We ordered so much food we could barely finish everything but we kept going and walked out of there feeling like pigs. Haha! We got the beach sashimi 30 pieces of random sushi. It was different and not my fav. Too many pieces that I didn't care for. I just need to order stuff that I actually like. So if you want random go for it. The sauce on the spicy crunch roll tasted like bbq sauce so that threw me off. My husband didn't mind it but it wasn't for me. The rainbow roll was spot on. The dragon and rainbow roll I would order again. Overall it's a great spot. When we walked out the whole staff thanked us and waved at us which was amazing! Our waitress earned this 5 star. I wish I got her name!

Pretty standard sushi restaurant, nothing really extraordinary. The prices are a bit on the steeper since I'm comparison to other sushi restaurants but they have a pretty decent selection of rolls with good combo of ingredients. We got take out and everything was nicely packed and nothing came undone.

I think there was a pice of sushi in my order that was fresh, so I am giving Billy Beach 2 stars. It was so un-fresh that I threw most of it away. And, like most sushi, expensive. Never again.
