Big Mama's Soul Food

There was an awful moldy smell in the restaurant from a sewage overflow. The man that made the food was really nice and helpful. The place looks really clean. The food was tasty. Huge free parking attached to the mall. I would go again but only if they fix the sewage problem. The surrounding stores did not have that smell.

I was disappointed by the hot water corn bread. The inside was doughy. The sweet potatoes and pot roast were really good, the chicken was decent.

Everything is made as you order, and it's all worth the wait. Trust me. The fried chicken was among the best I've had in town, and the Mac and cheese and coleslaw were great, as well. I'll be back ASAP! Lots more to try on the menu.

2 stars for the fried chicken, that's all!!! While visiting Nashville, we had a taste for soulfood and decided to give this place a try and it was close to our hotel as well. We were very disappointed and wasn't satisfied with the taste of the food, the portions were very small and not worth $50 for two plates. I won't even mention the peach cobbler...

I just picked up the Chicken plate with green beans and macaroni and cheese. Wow! It was very tasty as the chicken was fried for the order. The green beans were seasoned to perfection. The Mac and cheese was good as well. Don't miss this place. In fact.....go now!

This is by far the worse food I have eating in Tennessee....My gosh,when I Google Southern Food this is what came up....I paid $50 for 3 meals and 3 juices...Over charged for horrible food...The turnip greens was scorched,no flavor no juice.. I don't know what kind of mac and cheese this is,no cheese,no flavor,chitlins tasted liked vinegar,no seasoning,cabbage was hard as a brick...I'm guessing the chicken was boiled,no flavor,I can't even describe the corn...The little circle muffin was hard,you could use it for a weapon...The only thing good about the restaurant was the fruit tea...The lady who was taking the orders even had a attitude..We look up on the menu to see if we could order something else,she scratches her head and point to another menu with the pen she writing with and says"this all we got"....Where is the love...Never again....It would help you get some folks who know how to cook...Have them make food in front of you and try it out before they step in your kitchen.....You have to find another way. .Wish I could give it 0 stars......

Not bad...I always have to try out local soul food joints and the food was pretty good. I got the chicken and dressing with green beans, macaroni and cheese, hot water cornbread and a chicken breast...it was good but I always say the chicken and dressing could use more to it...just a lil dry...there is seating available if needed. The staff is friendly...

The food is awful , salty batter,beyond reason, whom ever the cook is.He ,or She needs to go back to cooking school,you would think if you get a call about salty food ,you would say return it,and well replace no , anyhow, I'm done ,so disgusting,and unsatisfied. Mate.

I ordered 2 plates of food with a dessert and my total was over $49. Big Mama's is overpriced. This wouldn't be a problem if the taste out weighed the price. Unfortunately that didn't happen the chitterlings were very greasy and chopped up very small. They're also supposed to be kind of meaty which is a sign of them being well done. But these chitterlings were still somewhat soft. The spaghetti was cold and I was told it couldn't be heated because of the cold slaw ( why wasn't it already warmed before adding it to the plate.) The fried chicken plate wasn't as bad. The fried chicken actually tasted good. However my pinto beans and collard greens tasted as if they were from a can! I won't be revisiting Big Mama's soul food again. The quality wasn't worth the price!!!

Not sure why this place only had 3 stars! I got the daily special of beef tips, collards, green beans, mac and cheese, and cornbread. Everything was hot, tasted homemade, and they were friendly. I recommend giving it a try!
