Big Jake's Western Dive

This place is small on Highway 59 south of Diboll in Lufkin between Houston and Nacogdoches. We almost missed it but I saw a bunch of cars outside and made me think that it might be worth checking out. It's a very small place, really a dive, as the title suggests. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I've had and as a native Texan who frequently Grades chicken fried steak I can say this was one of the best. The meat was fresh, the breading was just right, not too much. It was extremely tasty. I highly recommend this place. They were families there and people from the community and you could tell that everybody there really enjoyed what they had and enjoyed being there.

This place is about 20 min or so past Livingston. She ain't pretty on the outside and depending on how people park, it may be difficult getting in/out of your vehicle. This place is great though and worth the challenges. This is a mom and pop place, my favorite kind. I was out in the area and a friend recommended it as do I. It's a country cooking place. I had a Ribeye steak and my daughter ordered a double cheese burger with bacon. The lady asked if she was sure if she wanted a double, she said yes. When it came out, it was huge. We honestly could have split it and be satisfied. My steak came a second later. It was topped with some herbed butter, and cooked a perfect med rare. My daughter and I ordered a basket of fries, I asked for the potato casserole. I am not a huge fan of things like that, but it was tasty and I would get it again. Both the burger and steak were cooked perfect and both tastes great. The servers were attentive and gracious hosts. It would be a great place to head out to after a nice motorcycle ride around the lake although I was pretty full after the meal and I am not sure how that would be on the ride home. If you are out there or near there, take a chance, I don't believe you will regret it. I don't and I look forward to a bigger steak next time.

Great food & service! Best chicken fried steak around and their grilled pork chop is amazing. Their fried peach pie with vanilla ice cream is a must for dessert

First time eating here and can't believe we waited this long! Great food, great service! Worth the short drive from Livingston! Definitely get the ranch potatoes as a side!

I've yelped this place and finally got to stop in and try it! Goodness, definitely a new place for my hubby and I to stop in. After 4 they start serving steak and can't wait to try that out. This visit my hubby the chicken fried steak- delicious! I had a cheeseburger and onion rings. The onion rings were the best!! Yum! Then had to try their buttermilk pie - delicious ( think it's better than mine! )They are only open three days out of the week, Wednesday-Friday. Services was great and several have said not much to look at on the outside but I loved everything about it. Love eating and supporting restaurants like this, they are hard to come by!

Awesome place to get chicken fried steak. Hubby had that and sides and I had a steak finger basket with fries. It was delicious. Cute place and the lady in charge was very nice. They make fresh pies I. House and we had the snickerdoodle which was still warm as she just made the pies. The restroom was a little tiny so maybe not a wheelchair accessible location. Food handsome awesome and service was good too.

Love the cute western atmosphere, friendly people, great Southern food. Very warm and inviting place to go. A must stop in Moscow!
