My only issue with Ben's are the crazy prices. We own an overpriced house a few blocks away, so, I am not obtuse to the obscene prices on yuppity Phinney. However, $3.00 for an English muffin?!? ($6.00 with a dollop of jam and butter) Wtf? I saw that and I had to see for myself what a $3.00 English muffin tastes like. My god, it has to be the Bentley of muffins. Not just a baked good ,but, more of a culinary experience. Well, it was pretty good for sure, but, after a taste test (I bought 8 for $24) among artisan obsessed, IPA snob type friends, it rated no higher than the sourdough Franz at $0.45 per. Sure, the Franz didn't have the rustic, hand crafted, boutique bakery feel and look of BB's,but, at 1/6 the price...How hard is it to bake EMs at home and why the F are they going for 6 or 7 times the price of store bought I asked myself. My own small batch, hand forged, organic sourdough version have all the taste, look, nooks and crannies of BB's and came in at around $0.75 per muffin (loaded with butter and local blackberry jam).Ben's Breads is a terrific addition to the neighborhood and I wish them well, but slow your roll on some of the prices. Local moms need some money leftover for $2,000 strollers and $5,000 service bicycles okay Ben?Next up I am going to try my hand at Ben's $6.00 9" off menu hoagie buns.

I found Ben's Bread on the list of "James Beard Award" nominees and I was very impressed with the three pastries I tried: "whole donut" (/5 stars), cinnamon twist donut" (5/5 stars), and "potato potato danish" (5/5 stars). At 10am on a Saturday, there were only 6-7 flavors in the display case, I'll have to stop by earlier next time! As other reviewers have noted, the line is very long but it does move fast. I I recommend that you've had on enjoying your food somewhere else. I,only saw 4 indoor seats, an outdoor standing bar with room for about 8, and outdoor benches and tables with room for about 20. that being said, overall, service (5/5) was great in the ambience (5/5 stars) was modern and felt a little tight and cluttered because of the crowds.Next time I want to try the English muffins, it seems like that is what is the most popular

The line was out the door but moved. The staff is friendly and the place is abuzz with satisfied patrons. We requested a big box since we wanted to try try try! First and foremost is the bacon egg breakfast sandwich is perfection. No other description; get it and enjoy it! The house made English muffin is stacked with an eggy souffle great quality bacon and American cheese. The combination is out of this world. Don't ever change it. It's addicting. The coffee served here is fantastic. I enjoy it. I enjoyed it in theory again today when I picked up gross coffee elsewhere.... dreaming of coffee from Ben's....Pastries and flavors created at Ben's are fun and easy to love. Wish this was in my neighborhood! Thanks for being a great highlight on our Food vacay!!

Stopped by for a baguette and it was worth the drive. Excellent quality. We picked up some corned beef from Dingelders and made great sandwiches.

We had so much fun at Ben's Bread x Post Alley Pizza collab pizza with friends night a couple weeks ago! We got in line around 5pm, for the 5:30 opening, and were about 10th in line. The line quickly started growing, and by 5:30 there were probably around 50th people in line. We ordered the Pepperoni white Pie with broccoli rabe and roasted garlic and garlic knots. Ben's Bread was also kind enough to customize a vegan (cheese-less) pie for us, which the vegan in our group was ecstatic about! For dessert we ordered a Panna Cotta and a Dirt Pudding. We settled down at a table in the courtyard underneath a outdoor heater, pulled out Monopoly Deal, and had a blast.

Holy moly, had the sandwich of my life earlier. Stopped by for some bread but was tempted by The Sandwich: ferndale creamery fresh mozzarella, castelvatrano olive tapenade, wobbly cart farms' wild arugula, puccia plus salami. So flavorful, so delicious. The olive tapenade was just what it needed to push it over the edge. Can't wait to try our bread later.

Best. English. Muffins. Full. Stop. So perfectly sour - great griddely taste; my only lament is that I don't think I can eat store-bought English muffins anymore and I am now spending more than 4 dollars per muffin (with tip). I ate my first muffin untoasted and slathered with butter/bonne maman jam. I can't wait to try it toasted tomorrow. Holy smokes it was so delicious. The focaccia was perfectly light and I kind of wish I got a normal loaf as well because of the lovely textures that made me crave another bread product.Lastly, the blue corn pound cake had the most delightful thick lemony glaze that perfectly complimented the light pound cake. It's nothing like the saccharine lemon loaf found at Starbucks. Yes, the lines are long but move relatively quick considering... the inside is cute with lots of cute decor but has very limited areas for seating and enjoying your food there. Yes it's also pricey but trust it is worth your coins.

James Beard Award Semi finalist for Outstanding pastry chef or baker and by gosh they deserve it. I have no qualms whatsoever regarding buying $80 worth of pastries cuz 1) I deserve it and 2) it deserves it and the line basically confirms this. I'd also like to add that YES the line is worth it. The place looks awesome too love the aesthetic and tables both inside and out. Service was efficient the line is really only due to demand for the place. Let's get to the food! The whole donut 10/10 it's a donut and the hole, the hole itself is filled with this ridiculously yummy filling I couldn't quite place the flavor but I will have 10 more thank you very muchSalted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie 10/10 I got this for the kids and they loooved it Focaccia 9/10 it's really good just not the greatest I've had, would be happy to grab one of those regardless but may try another loaf in the future Benne Miso Scallion 10/10 great bread, beautiful crumb lots of sesame seeds on top which I love and a very interesting flavor Rhubarb and Mascarpone topped Olive Oil Cake 11/10 SHUT THE FRONT DOOR oh wow this was good, please don't hesitate grab this beauty and thank me later Cinnamon Sugar Donut 10/10 if a donut could be perfect then this is it, delicious (whatever dough recipe they're using for their donuts it's working!)Sweet Brioche Danish (citrus) 10/10 not too sweet bread was perfect and the citrus was a great juxtaposition to the sweetness of the cream and brioche Forever fan!

Finally visited the brick and mortar in the Phinney Neighborhood this past Monday. I had the day off snd knew it would be the perfect day to visit my friend and I decided to go as she hadn't been yet either, but had worked with Ben at another local restaurant before he started doing pop up. I had been to the pop up window in Ballard and purchased their English Muffins at a bake sale with a number of local bakers. I had the breakfast sandwich with bacon and cheese. Was delicious and of course on their English muffin. My friend had a toasted English muffin with jam and butter. She really loved the Maldon salt the butter she said she didn't even need the jam. My friend had an iced matcha latte and I had an ice latte. Love that hemp milk is one of their alternative milks. The ice are the mini cubes that everyone loves so much. Also had to get some treats to go I grabbed one each of the savory and sweet brioche. I thought they only did the Chez Isn'tz on Thursdays but they're trying to do them more often so I was able to grab a bag definitely one of my favorite items they make .The staff is friendly and helpful. space utilizes every inch well there are couple tables inside and counter seating and tables outside under cover. Am excited to return as I know they do different specials in different days. Love when a space I kickstarted is doing so well and is loved by the community.

I went on Friday at 11:30am to get English muffins to make my wife eggs Benedict for Mother's Day and they were sold out. The guests in front of me were locked in a meaningless conversation and couldn't care less I was waiting behind them. The 2 ladies didn't even order yet and I was waiting 2 minutes. They finally noticed me and could care less. The associate working the cashier also didn't really care to bother in their conversation to speed them up... They finally ordered. The person working there wearing a mask seemed very unapologetic and could care less that they were sold out. I asked if they do special orders, and she said no, just get here early...So Saturday morning we get there at 7:25am (as they open at 8am) to be sure I get these darn English muffins. I was first to get there, but by the time they opened there were about 15 people in line behind me.I got the scallion bread, English muffins, honey donuts, cacio and Pepe scone, and streusel cake - which were all amazing. My family was not disappointed by any of the items I got. But, it was a little on the expensive side... The staff on Saturday morning was also delightful. I would give them 5 stars, except for the person that seemed disinterested on assisting the day before. Maybe she was having a bad day? Too bad, because it cost a star.Regardless, you should definitely check this place out - you can taste the passion in the stuff they make.
