This place is AMAZING! You would think it's just a small corner store.Oh no, Bell's is a hidden gem!Their subs are the best I have had in DECADES! I live in Arlington, MA, and will drive to Southie for my Italian sub, everything on it, light on hots. Just for my Bell's market fix! I sometimes dream about this place at night! LOLThe pre marinated steak tips are heavenly! The cucumber salad, I nearly clean them out of it, when I stop by! Mac and cheese... YUM! The chicken parm... I'm in love!!!Shepard's pie to DIE for! Chicken, Broccoli and ziti...Hits the spot! The velvet red cake... If it was a man, I would marry it! ... I just started going there, so I haven't tried EVERYTHING.But I will eventually! LOL Staff is courteous and very nice. Service is quick. All around a plus! They also sell beer and wine. You will not be disappointed. Also during this pandemic, it is so imperative to support small local businesses! So support for Bell's is a MUST! Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed!

I went to Bell's Market yesterday because I needed some essentials (Milk, OJ, Eggs, etc.) and I was starving so I had ordered roasted Turkey Sub with all of the toppings at the meat counter. The sandwich was big - and definitely filled me up (which isn't easy to do). I also got the store made sweet sausage which was fantastic. I'm pretty thrifty (like to stock up at Costco), and I don't like to overpay for groceries. I was expecting overpriced items, this being a local independently owned place, but the prices were very reasonable. The owner checked out my order and was great. Will definitely be back to Bell's Market in the future!

I absolutely love Bells. Amazing soups at the Deli, bone-in pork chops and great (albeit limited) produce.

Bell's Market has been in the same place since the 1890's and when you walk in you know it, the place is full of dusty cans of spaghetti O's and Dinty More beef stew as well as other unsold sundry items from years past. The laminate tile flooring which must be several decades old is cracked and peeling, and the ownership shows no interest in replacing it. This place has been in business since the 1890's and change is not one of their specialties, which in some ways can be a good thing. One particular thing that has probably not changed much over the past few decades is the butcher counter at the back of the store. I used to live across the street from Bell's and frequently purchased from their butcher counter, they have very reasonable prices and can cut whatever you want on the spot. Do you need 3 inch thick butterflied pork chops? They do it for you. How about freshly sliced bacon cut to whatever thickness you want even the legendary extra extra thick? Yep they got that covered. Do you want to make a Turducken and need someone to de-bone a chicken, a duck, and a turkey for you? Well, they can do that. On top of being able to do these things upon request, they can order specialty meat for you, so if you need afresh turkey for thanksgiving or some goat or lamb they can get it. Their in house selection of meat is sometimes limited, but at they can always get what you want if you place a special order. If you don't see something, ask about it, they have a huge refrigerator in the back overflowing with meat. Their hamburger and sausage are made in the back, once I went in for some hamburger meat, they were out, so they said to give them10 minutes and they ground up fresh hamburger. Their home made sweet Italian sausages are absolutely amazing, and the guys that work there are pretty nice most of the time.I only go in this place for meat and cold cuts, avoid buying vegitables and other items as they are usually old and about to go bad. I have had luck once in a while buying the fruit that they keep up by the register, just realize you need to eat it pretty much as soon as you get it.

CHECK RECEIPT TO MAKE SURE YOU WERE CHARGED CORRECT AMOUNT! They've wayyyy overcharged me at check out two straight times I've gone there (I only go when I need to, maybe every few months). First time they literally charged me double what the stuff actually cost that I was buying. Had to go back to get money back. Next time, they charged me $56 for $30 of stuff. Had to go back again for refund. Cannot be by mistake that it happened two straight times can it? Feels like they have to be doing this to people consistently and hoping people don't take the time to add up the costs of what they actually bought. Just pay attention is all.

Overpriced seltzer at a STEEP $1.99 per liter but well-stocked booze aisles for alcoholics. The cashier had to inquire about the price which is DOUBLE what it is at my favorite Roslindale market. When did a market near the projects become so uppity?

This is a great local market! It might not look nice from the outside but they have an awesome wine and beer selection, including lots of craft beer and cider, at really good prices. Their meats are also amazing!
