Heard some great reviews about Belle Isle Seafoods so thought we would give it a try. It is across the harbor from the airport in Boston so if you sit outside, you get a great view of the plane taking off and landing. Be careful of the seagulls though. They are pretty used to hovering over the tables and if you leave your food may take it. There are signs all over saying the seagulls are mating, so eat outside at your own risk. They will not replace food.We sat inside because it was very windy the day we went.We asked how much the combo plate was for just scallops and clams as the menu said Market Price. The waitress told us they only sell the combo plate as advertised on the menu on weekends. So, if you don't like the scallops, clams, shrimp and fish in your combo, you are out of luck on the weekends. Horrible way to treat their customers. So, we got a scallop plate. We just got one plate as we did not know how much you got on a plate, and got chowder as well.The plate was not the size we are used to getting from Clam Box. Very small. We usually split a plate at Clam Box no problem. The scallops were very good. Although there were some muscles left on some of them. The french fries, your run of the mill frozen and onion rings were very, very thin and pretty boring. Coating on onion rings was super smooth and tasteless. Nothing to write home about. The cole slaw was not home made and came in a tiny to go ketchup type container.The chowder was not homemade.. The potatoes were too uniform in size and there were hardly any clams in the chowder. Really a rip off for the price.I did get a Berry cocktail that was very good.All in all, its not a place we would return, but were glad we tried it and suited our curiosity.

We were craving some fried seafood like crazy and finally decided to try Belle Isle. It absolutely did not disappoint! We went around 7pm on a saturday and waited for about 30 minutes. The beautiful water and city views make the wait go by quickly! We started with some drinks and their prices are very reasonable for cocktails, beer, and wine.We ordered the fried scallops dinner and the crab cake dinner. The fishermans platters and lobster rolls that kept coming out looked so delicious while we waited. The wait for our food was quite long but it was so worth it. My friend scallops were big, crispy, and percect, and my fiance loved his crab cakes. I had so many scallops that I shared several during dinner AND took a few home too. The prices might seem high at first glance, but for fresh seafood and big portions you cannot go wrong. Dont listen to the haters, try Belle Isle!!

During my last trip to MA I tried out Belle Isle and had such a good meal I had to come back this second trip with company.We ordered a cup of clam chowder, a lobster roll with onion rings as well as a side order of fresh fried haddock. The cup of chowder tasted nice but it was a bit thin and just above room temperature upon receiving, not ideal. As for the lobster roll, this thing was packed with fresh lobster salad and lettuce in a chargrilled split-top roll. I found the chargrilled roll interesting as I'm used to the traditional buttered version, a welcome change though. The lobster itself was plentiful, fresh and slightly sweet, I think it could have been a bit saucier though. The onion rings were crispy and thin, but unfortunately quite bland. If they could season up their batter these would be incredible. Same story for the haddock, while the delicate white fish on the inside was juicy and fresh tasting, overall there was very little flavor. Both of these were remedied with some table salt and sauces, but I really think they should consider seasoning some of their food. We were seated by the water which made for a memorable meal and though we didn't see our waitress very often, she seemingly was always there right when we needed her.All in all, I did enjoy this meal and would come back again should I fancy visiting MA a third time.

Fresh & delicious seafood. Spouse had blackened swordfish. Was the best we've ever had. I had baked combination platter with haddock, scallops & shrimp. All delicious & cooked perfectly. Onion rings were great too. Generous portions. Cold beer. Great service. Casual, comfortable atmosphere. Was only in Boston for a day but if ever back in town, would return. Note that restaurant is cash only.

I have eaten at this restaurant many times and always get the scallop dinner, which is a nice size and often have taken some home. However, tonight I used a coupon for and takeout to deliver it to my house. I am shocked how small my order was with Only 10 scallops , eight of them being an OK size and the other two just pieces. maybe they feel it's OK to cut corners with delivery or if someone's using a coupon but I am very disappointed.

I was very excited to visit Belle Isle Seafood. It's located in Belle Isle Inlet, with a beautiful view of both Boston and the local marina. My excitement was tempered by the mixed reviews the place has received, a combination of ones and five's averaging out to just above a three.And of course, being on Anthony Bourdaine's Boston list didn't hurt either, although he offers a poignant disclaimer that I won't repeat, that his picks aren't necessarily the best of Boston.Well he was right about that. The restaurant is large and does provide an inviting dining experience. I found the service to be very friendly and offered great suggestions to those of us who were having trouble navigating the menu.The food, unfortunately, was just OK. Like the broad range of reviews, I would say the onion rings were a one, fries a two, haddock a three and clams a four. Sadly, there are countless spots throughout Boston that would score much higher so if you're going for these items, think again.Despite this, I do plan to return someday for the lobster rolls, which look spectacular, but I definitely won't be ordering a side of onion rings.
