It was like dining in a treehouse!Excellent service even on a packed day. The cocktails were made with care, and their specialty dishes, like the octopus and the hummus platter, look amazing. I had the ceviche and Caesar salad, which was very delicious. This restaurant is upstairs and there is often a line of people waiting to get in. Make reservations if you can.

The ambiance and service were very nice. We sat on the patio where you could see the ocean and downtown Del Mar. Our waitress was knowledgeable, attentive and very courteous. On the other hand, the food was just average. The cheeseboard had a variety of dips, cheeses, and olives, but not enough pita to match. While the flavors were quite good it was a bit expensive. The scallops were average but nothing special. The branzino lacked flavor and was extremely difficult to eat given the scarcity of meat relative to all of the bones.

Made reservations here for my wife's birthday and we were seated outside. It was very hot this day and the sun was in our eyes making it hard for us to read the menu. We asked the server if we could sit inside because of the sun and heat and he said there was only room at the bar so we took the seats. When we sat down at the bar, we were facing the entire restaurant which kind of felt awkward, but we just tried to enjoy the meal. The restaurant was small then we thought. We ordered the crabcake, the Gyro, and the Beeside burger with a side of truffle fries. The crabcake was pretty good, but it was more like a crab ball than a crab cake. The salad that came with the crabcake was also very good but we wish we had more of it. The Gyro came with large chunks of tough meat making it difficult to eat and the meat wasn't well seasoned and was $24. The B-side burger was okay. It wasn't anything special with very limited toppings and cost $21. The truffle fries were okay as well. Nothing special.. Overall, just a mid experience nothing really special about this place.

This restaurant goes to show that just because the food has a high price tag, that doesn't mean it's good. This was the first time in a Long time where I've gone out to eat somewhere and genuinely couldn't even finish the dish because it was so bad.I ordered the lamb chops and yes I know they're supposed to be rare, but these practically felt raw. Maybe the kitchen closed for the night and they decided to cut the gas on the stove a bit early. Aside from the lamb chops themselves, even the polenta and the sauce (especially the sauce) were not very good. I've never had something that was so bitter and sour and just overall Bad at a restaurant. Moving on to the seafood risotto, the rice was basically just soaking in a seafood broth that kind of just tasted like they poured in the water they used to prepare the muscles and shrimp. On top of this, all of the seafood was just rubbery. We also got the salmon ballottine and the flavors just did not go well together, and the bell pepper pico they served it with just kind of felt like it was left over from another dish. Nothing seemed coherent. The only good thing we ate was the pita bread. Ambiance seemed fun if you're on the main balcony but if you don't make it out there, you're basically just sitting at the entry way of this business complex as everyone walks by your table to get in and out of the restaurant. Would not recommend. Already left disappointed but the cherry on top that made me want to write this review is that this morning my boyfriend and I both woke up feeling so nauseous. Major bummer since we were just trying to have a nice date night out.

I came here on a hot date with a beautiful Jordanian man. He gets big brownie points for choosing a classy restaurant with an ocean view on the second floor. Great place for a ladies lunch or any ole time. There is parking under the restaurant or you can park on the street

Not sure what all the hype is about sadly :(The service was great no complaints there. And the ambiance is cute and nice.Found the food to be underwhelming for the price point and the drinks as well. I got the tofu dish which was ok but nothing amazing and not flavorful enough. My friend's shrimp pasta was decent.

Came here on a Saturday morning for brunch right when they opened and was seated immediately. The service was prompt but slightly too quick, as we sat down the waitress asked if we wanted any drinks, we told her we had to look at the menu first. We ordered the crab cake for the table and it was literally 1 crab cake to split amongst 4. But the crab cake was good, filled with crab. We got the fish and frites and the French toast with a side of bacon. The fish was crispy but could have used some.finishing salt. The French toast was good, however the waitress forgot the bacon and had to ask to bring it. The other 2 people in our party got the breakfast burrito and poutine. They seemed to like it.Also got the michelada - nothing worth writing about. Also got the del mar derby which was good. The other 2 friends got the sangria and they loved it. Toss up if we'll be back.

Everyone else seemed to enjoy their entrees but unfortunately the $34 octopus entree really, really fell short for me. It was cut octapus rounds and a lot of potatoes and arugula; quite different from the flagship photo on the landing page. I probably should have said something. Hopefully just an anomaly but I really felt bait and switched. :(

We took advantage of the San Diego Restaurant Week (SDRW) menu to try Beeside Balcony for the first time, opting for lunch on a Sunday afternoon.-----FOOD (4/5) Meatballs (4/5) -- Two tasty lamb & beef meatballs with San Marzano tomato sauce Octopus Ceviche (3/5) -- Very good octopus, but very small portion, with excellent tortilla chips Beeside Burger (3/5) -- Delicious burger on a toasted brioche bun ... served well done even though I ordered it rare ... overkill on the Burger toppings ... killer French Fries (5/5) Rockfish Tacos (4/5) -- Two tacos served "open face" with nicely cooked rock fish Churros (4/5)-----SERVICE (2/5) While well intentioned, service was way off the mark starting with having to stand outside in the rain to claim our reservation. Once seated, our server was fairly quick taking our order ... then we waited for runners to bring our food. We barely had our first course when a runner wanted to drop our second course at our table. -----AMBIANCE (2/5) The restaurant is essentially the covered roof top of a single story building with open air sides. Tables are packed into the space. The primary views are up and down Camino Del Mar. This Sunday, it was raining -- sometimes drizzle, sometimes hard. In either case, the queue when we arrived was out the door and in the rain -- no cover. We were seated on the edge of the restaurant, which was AOK until the rain picked up ... and our server wouldn't reseat us at a dry table. Limited parking in area. Shared public restrooms.
