WOW! When you have a bunch of San Diegans rant how awesome the BBQ is, you know you're doing something right, because they love their Phil's. I ordered through ezcater for our office for about 25 employees. I'll be honest, our first cater order, canceled on us last minute and I had to find a second place ASAP. I really wanted some type of Thanksgiving food since this was supposed to be a Thanksgiving lunch for our employees. I went with BBQ chicken, brisket, mac and cheese, and roasted veggies. And let me tell you, BBQ Boss did not disappoint. The meats were juicy, nothing was dry or overcooked. The BBQ sauce was perfect, not too tart or tangy. The mac and cheese stole the show, it was creamy, cheesy and flavorful. The roasted veggies were buttery, nicely salted and peppered. I have no complaints about this place. Everything was AWESOME! I definitely need my friends and family to try their food! Thank you for the delicious food.

Christine and the BBQ Boss team were amazing! I contacted them to cater a casual get-together for about 50 people the night before our wedding, and they did a fantastic job. First of all, Christine was super responsive and prompt in her emails. She did a great job of estimating the amount of food for our guests (it was perfect! We had just the right amount) and walking through the entire process with us. On the actual day, they arrived on time and helped set up everything beautifully. The guests LOVED the food. The meat was so tender and delicious, and the vegetables and sides were amazing. We heard nothing but compliments about the food from everyone.Pricing is super reasonable as well. We got brisket, chicken, and pork ($16-18 per pound), a roasted vegetable platter ($10 per pound), beans and mac and cheese ($5.33 per pound each), a large Caesar salad ($27) and white rolls ($6.12 per dozen). They also included napkins, utensils, serving utensils, and BBQ sauce, so the only things we needed to get were plates and cups. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing BBQ catering!

It was a meat sweats kinda Monday and my team had a hankering for some tasty BBQ. Problem was, nobody wanted to leave the building because work was piled-high as usual. So we all made the executive decisions to eat at our desks. Standard. Enter BBQ Boss via Peach delivery.I was pleasantly surprised at the portion size considering some restaurants skimp out when it comes to delivery services. The cuts of meat were tender and flavorful and bbq sauce was not too sweet with a nice tang to it. I'm not a fan of overly sweet sauces so this one fit the bill and complimented the meat nicely. The consensus of my co-workers was general agreement in my take on their food so that's a plus, considering some of them can be a bit snobby when it comes to their bbq. Since I can't speak on the actual restaurant (or cart I should say), service or the food, I'll keep this review short and sweet and update once I make a proper visit.

If you have jury duty, come here for lunch!! Only a block away from the courthouse, this unassuming little food truck has delicious barbecue at a very affordable price. BBQ pork sandwich $6 plus a free side when you check in on Yelp. Huge portion of BBQ pork on a top split pretzel roll, their BBQ sauce is zingy and the side of beans had big chunks of meat. So satisfying and filling for about $7.50 with a canned drink. Since it's a food truck, there's no seating. But across the street from the courthouse is a giant courtyard with plenty of empty tables and chairs, trees for shade and a pleasantly babbling water feature. You can almost forget you're in the middle of downtown San Diego. So much better than eating in the courthouse food court - I think I saw a subway in there. Please visit the BBQ Boss, you'll love it!

Came from jury duty and was craving a sandwich at first for lunch. Walked by the BBQ Boss on my way to the Grab-N-Go around the corner and noticed that their sandwiches and meat were $6. I still wanted to check out Grab-N-Go like my original plan and noticed that their sandwiches are almost $8 and have a line. Due to my goal to save money, I decided to walk back to BBQ Boss and I'm glad I did!The one and only gentleman there named Bobby was awesome and was so friendly. "Let me guess, you found us on yelp!" Noticed that they have sandwiches (brisket, pulled pork), which I initially wanted but also saw that they just sold the meat itself. The "No carbs!" disclaimer won me. Ordered the brisketHe also mentioned the "free side with $6 purchase" offer on Yelp which I of course took advantage of. I chose the salad which has a good housemade ranch... you can see and taste the herbs mmmGood service, quick, delicious and affordable food. Great flavor and filled me up. Whole chunks of brisket yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmHe even recommended to go where there's seating but I just walked to Horton Plaza which isn't a far of a walk. The food is put in a box that is easy to carry with you Check him outttttt

Blink and you might miss this place. Bobby who is the cashier and greeter was very friendly when I asked about the business. Apparently, his brother in law is the chef who makes the sauce and meat for BBQ Boss and they have been in business now for more than a few years.I ordered a combo which consists of an entree, side, and soda for $9. Since they ran out of the brisket, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad, a can of lemonade and a free side of beans with the yelp check in. It was great!!! Although it was placed in a hot box, the bread was not soggy and the potato salad had a nice crunch to it (which I enjoyed and very much liked!!!). The food is premade so service should be relatively quick once you ordered. Before I left, Bobby handed me their menu and told me of places where I could sit down and eat. Such a nice guy!!! If you work in downtown or close to the area, be sure to check them out! This is what I call delicious good food.

We hired BBQ Boss to deliver an entire BBQ spread for 400 people. The food was so hot when they dropped it off in their special truck that you couldn't even eat it without blowing on each bite! They were early so they left the food in the truck and stayed until we were ready to serve. We got so many compliments on the food that we couldn't keep track, one of which was from a BBQ master in our group from ST Louis who has a custom smoker and has cooked for our smaller get-together. He said the BBQ was "legit" which is VERY high praise in our circle. You cant get better BBQ IMHO. We will be using them again, as soon as possible, yum.

We used BBQ Boss as our caterer for a 40th bday party at Mission Brewery. The food was amazing! What a value. I highly recommend using BBQ Boss to cater your event. They were extremely easy to work with and able to provide (at minimal cost) a rack that keeps food warm. We ordered 5lbs of the brisket and the mac n cheese. They were both gourmet quality! Not exaggerating. The meat fell apart and was so well seasoned it didn't need any salt, pepper or bbq sauce. The Mac n cheese had high quality cheeses and a hint of gruyere. I was blown away. Top notch. Consider them for your next catering event. Excellent value, quality and service. I highly recommend.

A great little food cart parked in a lot behind The Sofia Hotel. My coworkers clued me in to BBQ Boss and arguably the best beef brisket in San Diego. All the food is pre-made, so service is super fast. You can select your meat of choice (brisket, smoked chicken, pulled pork, pork ribs) a la carte with the usual sides (potato salad, beans, coleslaw, mac & cheese, green salad), or you can get the meat in a sandwich. The sandwich only costs about $7, with big chunks of brisket on a pretzel bun. The only bone I can pick with them is that I wish they'd cut the brisket into thin slices instead of cubes/chunks. Otherwise, you can't beat that deal. If you ever find yourself downtown and need a quick lunch, this BBQ cart is the boss!

pulled pork I don't even think that there was even half hotdog worth worth of pork. it was the worst and most expensive piece of cabbage. I had with a piece of bread if I was capable in affording to go back to Kate's, give it back to them and get my $22.50 back for only worth of maybe not even a dollar worth of food and waited for half an hour never again and the food I never ate it. I got it for my partner and it wasn't worth the time of day to be covered over my cabbage that there was no pulled pork underneath. Thanks for nothing. This is like a -5 stars at the end of your food that you pay for disappointment it was a complete disappointment. Go back to Kelowna. it's telling me to rate the food I already did a -5.
