First time at this establishment and it was wonderful! Delaney (sorry spelling) was a great waitress and very knowledgeable on the menu. She made our night! Will come again.

My friend comes here once a month as an "I deserve" dinner, and I finally joined her. I have been missing out! The service is amazing, every single person I interacted with was kind and helpful. Also I'm convinced that there's a special place in heaven for restaurants that box up your leftovers for you . The restaurant is very low light, moody vibes, I loved it, my camera did not, so sorry for the lack of photos, but trust me, it's worth it! Their cucumber martini is great and refreshing! I got the steak frites and my mouth is watering thinking about it right now. The portion sizes are very generous, we got a few sides to split amongst our table of 3 and we all still went home with a full meal of leftovers. Ceasar salad and the creamed spinach are amazing. Mac and cheese was alright, but I'm a tough critic when it comes to Mac, but my friends loved it. I don't eat shrimp, but quick plug, the garlic bread that comes with the shrimp, ! Well I think it was garlic bread, whatever bread it was, it was yummy! Can't wait to go back next month!Alsoooo, definitely make a reservation!

I came here for a Chicago Dinner / late birthday meal. I highly recommend their wedge salad with the bacon on it -- soo good. They have a housemade dressing that is light, refreshing and creamy at the same time. The bacon is their specialty bacon they make similar to peter luger's. I had the ribeye with fries topped with a bone marrow. The ribeye was perfectly cooked, and so tender. The fries were excellent and plentiful. The bonemarrow on top of the steak - even better. My girlfriend had the lambchops and they were excellent as well - not gamey, well cooked, and better than what I can make (which is a compliment as I make a good lamb chop). The mac and cheese was good but heavy. They provide a free sundae if you're celebrating. However, I'm uncertain if you get it if you do not get a dessert... The table next to us ordered plenty of stuff but didn't get any dessert and were wondering why they didn't get a sundaeOverall - delcious, plenty of food, and an excellent chicago steakhouse dinner. I recommend!

My partner and I had an absolutely incredible experience at Bavettes. We booked a late night reservation to celebrate a special occasion because so many friends have raved about the meal here that we knew we had to visit during our trip out here! The interior is quite large and ornate, really giving it a classic steakhouse feel. We were seated at a more secluded table with comfortable chairs, which made it even more special for our celebration. To start, we each got a cocktail (my french martini was DELICIOUS), and we shared an order of the house made butter and bread. The butter had the perfect consistency and flavor and was sooooo creamy. Entree-wise, we got both the rib-eye and the strip. Both were seared and cooked perfectly to our preference (medium rare) and were incredible cuts of meat. Sharing 2 steaks may have been bold (we left very full), but I will say it definitely helped keep us fueled for our trip!At the recommendation of a friend, the sides we chose were Truffle mac and cheese, along with an order of the fries. Of the two, I definitely enjoyed the Mac and cheese a little more, though the aioli served with the fries was delightful. For dessert, we opted for the chocolate mousse at the recommendation of our waiter.. a 10/10 recommendation - perfect texture and sweetness. The crust was almost like an oreo crust. So tasty! We paired it with a port wine that brought us back to our travels to Portugal. There's a reason it books up so fast - would definitely recommend coming for a celebratory meal!

Was in the mood for steak and my friend recommended this place. It does not disappoint! If you make reservations online when it opens up 3 weeks in advance, you won't find openings. But don't worry: you can walk in and sit at the bar and order off the regular menu. There are 2 bars: one upstairs and one downstairs. It's very dark inside.Highly recommend the crab cake (doesn't smell fishy). Steak is delicious! Cocktails are pricey (about $18) which is typical for Chicago but good.Highly recommend.

Reservations open 21 days before and they go pretty fast so i'd be prepared beforehand (unless you're ok with a 4 pm or 10 pm dinner).Service was spectacular from the start to finish - the host who brought us to our table was mindful of the steps and helped us into our seats. The servers were also very friendly and constantly checked in on us, making sure to help clear up the table from crumbs when possible. The food was just as good as their service. We ordered bread to start and it was good (but honestly i'd just save the space for their other food)Truffle mac and cheese: 5/5 The mac and cheese had a great crust to it and i loved the cheese sauce with it. You could definitely taste the cheesiness and the truffle bits were visible.Ribeye steak frites: 5/5 The fries were solid but i really liked the garlic aioli you dip them into. The ribeye was cooked beautifully and paired very well with the yellow sauce.Fried chicken: 5/5 Chicken was perfectly fried and paired well with the gravy. Mashed potatoes were also really good but we could barely eat this one after the first two dishes. At the end, we were also given free ice cream dessert for our anniversary - even the ice cream was a 5/5.All in all, the food at bavette's was amazing and the service was amazing as well. Would definitely come here again the next time i'm in chicago

I've been itching to try Bavette's for a while, and even more so when my staff gave me a gift card for Assistant Principal's Week. I finally got the chance not too long ago. It was a refined, but enjoyable dining experience. When I first heard about Bavette's, I was told to try the Old Fashioned and Brussels Sprouts. The Old Fashioned was STRONG, but 1 of the best I've had in the city. In addition to the Brussels, I had the Steak Frites with Bone Marrow. My friend had the Fried Chicken, and we got Macaroni & Cheese for the table. This was my 1st time having bone marrow - I decided to try it since it was offered as an "add-on" to the entrée menu. The bone marrow was SO buttery and decadent. I dipped my bread, fries, and steak in it - that's how good it was. The Brussels sprouts were a hit, too.My friend enjoyed her fried chicken, especially with the gravy that came with it. The macaroni was a little too cheesy for both of our tastes, but the flavor of it was great.Bavette's gives speakeasy vibes and I loved that. It was dark and intimate, so it's perfect for a date night...or a girls' night out like we had. Our server was VERY attentive and knowledgeable. It was almost as if he'd tried everything on the menu, so he was able to answer every question we asked. I look forward to returning.#ImNotAFoodie#ImJustAGirlWhoLovesFood#YelpEliteSquad

We didn't have reservations on a Saturday night but were able to wait about 1.5 hours for a table and it was so worth the wait.First, for being a high end steakhouse, they have a $7 house wine on the menu that's excellent. Their cocktail prices in generalFor a steakhouse are very reasonable.I am absolutely obsessed with the vibes inside. Speakeasy, old school, so GOOD! Now for the food/ the bread. Omg. The best sourdough I've ever eaten. Stinks you have to pay for it vs it used to be free but oh well.My husband and I shared a wedge salad. Excellent dressing and good size. Now for the entrees. I am not a fried chicken person but... I can't even describe how much I loved this food. One of the best entrees I have had in a long time. The fried chicken was juicy, light and perfect. The buttery mashed potatoes and gravy are so good as an accompaniment.Overall this is an absolute must.

We went to Bavette's on a Saturday night for dinner, and I highly recommend making a reservation. We sat outside in the patio and I love that it's dog friendly. The restaurant seemed a bit understaffed. Our waiter greeted us promptly, but it took a while to get his attention again to order our food and to get the check. However, he was really helpful in recommending a drink based on my preferences, which I really enjoyed.I found the steaks a little disappointing. I ordered the 6oz Filet Mignon. While it was cooked nicely, the presentation was lacking. The tomato and salad that came with the steak seemed hastily prepared and the food was lopsided on the plate. My boyfriend got the Ribeye Steak Frites and thought the steak was thinner than expected, but the fries were great. We shared the truffle mac and cheese, which was delicious. Their sides are definitely meant for sharing due to the generous portions. We also ordered bread to start because we were starving, but it never came and we couldn't find our waiter to follow up. He did, however, comp us the mac and cheese because of the delay with our bread and the long wait for our food. It was 50 minutes into our reservation before we got any food.Overall, I was underwhelmed. The food was decent, but the restaurant was definitely a bit understaffed.

For drinks, we got the espresso martini, champagne smash, and the house red wine. The wine was just okay, but well worth the $7 price point.Came back to Bavette's to celebrate a birthday. We started with the famous Wedge Salad which was fantastic. We also got a small order of the sourdough bread, which was just two pieces, but the perfect amount for 2 people. We then ordered the filet Mignon and Brussels sprouts, both were excellent. The sprouts were so good. The filet just melted in my mouth. Bavette's is one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Great ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food.
