An old school, no frills, Italian deli. Been to Bari hundreds of times over the last 22 years and they've never disappointed. Check out the aisles for some the best imported Italian goods!!

It was storming and I had to feed 12 dudes. Luckily, I was able to order us two 3ft subs for $30 a pop (though really $50 after delivery fee and tip since we didn't want to venture out into the rain). I'm pretty sure these babies were 4ft long tho and I've never got to order that much sandwich at once before. We got the italian combo and the meatball, both were solid, though not life changing. In a true world of abundance, all sandwiches would be 3 ft long. One day, my friends. One day.

Absolutely Yes. I love sandwiches... and I was told this was a classic sandwich shop .. so I dropped in. A typical small Italian grocery store/deli. I headed straight to the back and the deli guy told me to take my time. I ordered the Focaccia Italian Sub, it was made in about 5 minutes, paid the lady at the register and took this BEHEMOTH of a sandwich home. Firstly: this is enough food for a family of four maybe five not exaggerating. The meat and cheese were plentiful and the toppings were perfectly placed. The bread was fresh, soft, chewy, and delicious. Very impressive sandwich.

Great spot to stop in, classic Chicago Italian vibes. Stop in for a made to order sub sandwich and pickup something for dinner while you're there. They have lots of delicious raviolis, homemade lasagna, variety of sauces and pastas.

Came here for the first time and it is a small store, lots of meats and Italian goods. They also servce soups, sandwiches at the back of the store. I easily got my order in, I got the Italian, Italian beef, meatball subs, Italian wedding soup, and jarred giardiniera. The Italian sub was good, nice meat cuts, wish it had some more meat in it. The italian beef and meatball sub had really nice portions. Italian meet was tasty - very beefy, not overly greasy, balanced well with the hot giard. The meatball sub was interesting - tender meatballs with provolone and sweet peppers. A bit bland, very big meatballs. The italian wedding soup was different from the one I've had before because it had tomato in the broth. It was fine. There's no seating here, but they do have a small bar/bench area you can eat at. It seems like people usually just to take out for their sandwiches. All in all, this was a great experience and will be coming back here when I visit Chicago again. P.S. I recommend buying a jar of their giardiniera, so good!

Nice throwback atmosphere. Very solid Italian sub, but its nothing crazy. I'd come here if I lived close, but not worth going out of the way.

Went to Bari on a Sunday afternoon. The line was very long but the Italian sub was very much worth the wait. It is a small Italian grocery store and Deli- so the sandwiches are to go. It was very crowded and difficult to place an order. I recommend ordering ahead if going on the weekend. The bread was fresh, toppings tasty and the meat to bread ration was . We tried the pasta salad as well. The pasta texture was great but would have loved a bit more dressing.

Bread fresh from D'amatos, meats cheeses in house but the real game changer is that Giard. So insanely spicy but also flavorful. Got the Italian with habanero giard spread and it was a tantalizing experience. Had a coke on the side and I swear the sweats were real. If you want that old school spice + coke heater meal, search no further. Has some really neat items in the grocery on very part of the store like vodka sauce, tiramisu etc that seem heavenly as well. Will have to come back for a 2nd trip ASAP to get a picture.Update: Came for a 2nd trip and INHALED it before I could even take 1 picture. Im upset. I need another one. If you are curious, look at my review for D'amatos as the sandwiches look seriously identical given both use the same bread. I'll try and take one next time (I hope)Basically what my review boils down to, when it comes to Subs Bari is the winner. If you are looking for anything else, D'amatos is some serious gold. I guess my only advice is "Choose wisely" when it comes between these 2 goliaths.

Loved this sandwich!Local grab and go spot with other homemade Italian dishes. Did go on a Monday during lunch time, but from ordering to leaving w/ sub in hand was around 5 minutes. We grabbed 2 9" subs, one italian & one turkey and cheese. One of these sizes is easily splittable, but nothing wrong for saving a half for the next day. Ingredients taste so fresh - from the sourdough roll to everything inside, would 12/10 return!

I took the blue line and a bus in the snow, to come try an Italian sub that made it on magazines . Only to have the root of my mouth sore from the hardest bread a sub can be made from . The gag is they supposedly get their bread from next-door or across the street an actual bakery . Make it make sense .... The only thing that was good was the chicken noodle soup
