Bárbaro Taquería

The food quality is always consistent. I've eaten here at least 15 times in the past year. The carne asada quesadillas are delicious to the point where even my picky 4 year old will eat every last piece of the meat.I also love the enchiladas and the habanero watermelon margarita. The staff are friendly and will definitely remember you on your second visit :)

We visited this gem yesterday at around 6pm for dinner, we were craving Mexican food and this place checked all the boxes. We were specifically craving an esquite and birria tacos. The service was very quick, our server paid a lot of attention and was quick to take our appetizer and entree orders. We ordered the esquites appetizers, we were surprised when it came out with chips to dip in the corn but this was very delicious. The corn did not lack anything. The birria tacos were delicious, although I am used to it being brought out with a better sauce and some limes, it was still what I wanted at the time. It was hot and fresh and the consume was a good 7/10. The ambiance of the place is amazing. Dim lighting, good Hispanic music, clean, energetic servers, I loved it! I definitely recommend this spot

Bárbaro Taqueria is a great neighborhood restaurant serving elevated tacos and more. I visited mid-afternoon with my family and we enjoyed personable service and super food. I ordered the tacos dorados with cochinita pibil. The crispiness of the tacos perfectly offset the savory pork inside and paired well with the crema and pickled onions on top. A Modelo Negra completed my meal. Everything is made to order and there's cool decor to explore while you wait. Bárbaro has a full bar with delicious sounding drinks that I'll have to explore next time.

Yum!Amazing tacos and margaritas for a super affordable price in a great cozy environment. Service was prompt but not overbearing and the fish tacos were some of my favorite ever!

Running errands with a friend on Saturday, we were craving tacos, but wanted to try a new spot: Enter Bárbaro Taquería, a cute neighborhood spot situated on a corner. Intimiate in size like many Chicago restaurants, it doesn't lack in service and quality. Our server was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The margarita was perfectly crafted with just enough tequila. The Las Botanitas will sure to be a crowd favorite, as it provides everyone with something they'll like. But the star here is the Mushroom Tacos! Street taco size, you'd think they'd be too small, but they're so filling! Full of shittake mushrooms and the goat cheese crema gives the taco almost an umami flavor from your traditional cheese. I'd come back here just for these!

I've never had smoked mushroom tacos until I came here. They have amazing smoked mushroom tacos!!! Ask for the spicy chili oil to drizzle on top. The oreo tres leches is perfect and melts in your mouth. They are only open for dinner and get busy quickly, but it's so worth it. Customer service is also good.I would recommend this place and will definitely go back again.

FIRE AF! IYKYK The tacos, the service, the music, everything is a vibe.We had the habanero margaritas and the duck and shrimp tacos and they were excellent. This is your go to taco place.

Had pick up from here tonight. Everything was pretty good. The nachos get a bit soggy and all when you pick up. They were decent. The veggie burrito was fine. I had a bit more of the grilled veggies than I prefer. The cheese enchilada was also ok - kind of a grittier cheese. Probably needed to be rewarmed. I'll have to go here in person one time to really figure it out.

Omg! We took a little trip to Bárbaro and fell in LOVE with the food, charming ambiance, and incredible service!!Met up with a large group of friends for our own Happy Hour. We ordered fundido, barbacoa tacos, chicken flautas, chips and guacamole that was out of this world. Drinks were flowing with my group. I ordered 2 blueberry and sage margaritas. One with Moscato and the 2nd in tequila. Both were good but I like the tequila better. Really flavorful and soooo pretty, honestly.Our service was tremendous!! And the place was so crowded by 5/6 pm. We cannot wait to go back. Seriously one of my fav Mexican food joints!!

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Our server Sue Yi (sorry if I butchered that) was a gem! She was very thoughtful and helped with recommendations despite being slammed. She was a machine! The atmosphere is great! Entire place was packed but you could still sit and enjoy your meal/drinks. Music was just loud enough to hear without drowning you out. Food was fantastic and service was impeccable. Our appetizer was lost in the fold but they were very apologetic and took it off the bill! We had it for breakfast the next day. If you've never been, I'd highly suggest it, such a great place. Looking forward to going back!
