Barba Yianni Grecian Taverna

The food was outstanding!!! My mom and I sometimes go here to eat. Plus service is great and the Avgolemono Soup is wildly delicious. Everyone is very friendly and the patio feels like Europe.

I've been curious about the place because (and I'm almost embarrassed to say this given Greektown exists in Chicago) I've never been to a Greek restaurant. It was alright, but nothing particularly special or a place I expect to return. I had the chicken, and it was drowning in sauce. The lemonade didn't really taste like lemon, but I neglected to ask if it was Minute Maid fountain pop or real lemonade so that's on me.It's Lincoln Square so, you know, parking is a bit difficult.

This was an interesting place. It was giving half dance bar and half restaurant. I was seated and the staff was pretty attentive. The reason why I gave 3 stars was because the pastitsio was a bit pricey and I have never seen a pastitsio come with a sauce. The sauce was kind of like marinara but more loose. I appreciate the rice and the potatoes but I think it was more of a distraction from the pastitsio.

Hidden gem in Lincoln Square! Was on the hunt for a late late snack on a Saturday night and stumbled upon Barba Yianni. Got there around midnight and the atmosphere was fantastic. They have a band and a belly dancer. Lots of people dancing as well. While the tables around the dancing area were taken, we chose a table on the upper back side. We ordered multiple appetizers since it was too late for a big meal. We had the Greek fries, the grilled calamari - best I've had so far, Saganaki - delicious (heard they used to lit it at the table but they didn't do it for us) and grilled octopus - was a bit chewy but tasty . Most people were smoking hookah so there was a lots of smoke but it was not bad. Overall very good food and very entertaining.

Came here for a birthday dinner for a friend with about 20 people. The Doctor and I got there early and asked if we could have our check separate from the group so we could pay for the birthday person. The server said they did not do separate checks, even though there was nothing on the menu that said that. We didn't expect that everyone was going to ask for separate checks, just wanted two checks for the table. Let's get to the food. When the best meal of the night is the appetizer, there is not much that can be said about the menu. The octopus was amazing! It was grilled to perfection and it was tender. Everything else was just ok. It got the Makaronada Me Kima (greek spaguetti with seasoned ground beef, tomatoes & herb sauce). The dish itself was good, just didn't knock my socks off like the octopus did.The Doctor ordered a gyro entrée but was brought a gyro sandwich instead. Due to the wait, he chose to eat it instead of having the server bring the right order. We are not big on sending food back, so we usually just pay and leave, but because we were celebrating a friend, we stayed. This was most likely going to be a one and done deal for me unless someone I care about really has a strong need to go there. There are too many great Greek restaurants to just settle. This is really a two star review, but that octopus gets a star.

Barba Yianni is an above-average Greek restaurant in the city. The dining room is spacious and comfortable, dimly lit and a nice location for date night or family dinner. The menu doesn't have any surprises but the entrees are very good.We chose the sampler platter (pastitsio, moussaka, and dolmades) and the salmon dinner. The salmon was cooked properly and had a nice tender texture. The platter was very large and was accompanied by greek potatoes and rice. Both were very delicious. Service was quite attentive. The coffee tasted like it had been on the burner a bit too long and when we brought it to the attention of the wait staff, they promptly fired up a fresh pot. Prices are reasonable here for the items on offer. Recommended.

If your looking for the experience of a lifetime you need to checkout barba Yianni where your dreams become reality every Saturday night it's mediterranean night belly dancers, live music, exotic drink's,hookah's and the best food on the planet. We had Colorado lamb chops with two usda prime ribeye steaks and all the appetizers. Most importantly the owner is a great guy meaning he's nonstop checking on every table making sure your having the time of your life also making sure your having a great time he's the type of owner that other high end restaurants need to take notes from him if the place is jam packed which it is every Saturday he will bring out a table from the back and seat you it's like I was in the movie Goodfellas I love this place I definitely give one thousand stars and definitely recommend it for sure message me if you have any questions.

Everything was great here. Food was fresh and authentic. Service was friendly and prompt. The interior had a nice modern feel with lively Greek music. Plenty of outdoor seating as well. The complimentary bread was warm out of the oven. The hummus tasted like they just made it and had herbs with a little spice. The combo dish and sea bass were also excellent and both provided enough for second meals.

We ate outside on a beautiful summer evening. The house rosè was wonderful and our server Nera was attentive and did a great job of timing our family style appetizer meal. We will be coming back next time we're in the city.

Nice atmosphere... you be casual or dress up. Food was delicious! Parking is a bit scarce but due to bussling area, it's expected.
