Bar-Food by Burger Kook

We were driving down Morena and saw that Burger Kook had a whole setup outside one of the breweries so quickly pulled in and ordered some food. Both the burger and fries were totally delicious. Hard to top perfectly cooked meat with caramelized onions and sauce. My husband and I made the mistake of splitting the burger because we were pretty much fighting over it. Super friendly, great service, food was done quickly. If you find yourself anywhere near the Morena Costco then I highly recommend stopping by for some food. Apparently they're outside the brewery Fri-Sun.

AMAAAAAAZING!!! Definitely a must visit open till 2 am serving up Delicious bar food. Now it's namedBAR-FOOD. The prices are insanely reasonable. Next door to The Sunshine Bar. My new go to. The customer service was next level with a view of famous Newport Ave. Thank you Joseph and my new favorite chef Pennywise

This is SUCH A FANTASTIC PLACE.... they have always been full of kindness. When they started off as a catering and pop-up business, it was so fun to see them in our neighborhood or elsewhere when we would explore San Diego. Now that Burger Kook has a brick and mortar building next to Sunshine Saloon, in OB..... it's upgraded and called Bar Food. We go as often as we can, and walking around Newport Ave has a nostalgic vibe you have to experience.... It's still got lots of Mom and Pop Royalty in an ever changing world of Big Box Takeovers. This restaurant has a different twist you will appreciate wholeheartedly.... It's MCLOVIN APPROVED ! (unlike Jennifer L. Yelp reviews.... Those taste salty)

I can still taste the boiled onion in my mouth. Honestly the worst burger, rather order McDonalds; soggy wet bun burnt onion cheesy mess. As for the fries, I love cheese fries. But I'd still like to know why anyone would order a pile of soggy cheese/potato mess. Seriously, these people should be put in a prison of nacho cheese and we should all watch them try and swim out.

Great customer service! I recommend 100%. Joseph is the man. Get the bbq burger and you won't be disappointed!

Such a good stop before the beach! The guy behind the counter (who is also the chef, and I believe, the owner) is super rad and is so nice! I can tell he has immense pride in what he does. I got the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger and my friend got the OB Cheesesteak, and both were AMAZING. Picture of the burger does not do justice - you'll just have to find out for yourself!

Solid service, very helpful and understanding . Donald and Gerardo were very informative when educating about the menu for my group.

I have been here for 4 days on vacation and already eaten here 3 times!Definitely Will be a regular on my multiple trips here a year! It's open late as well. Not pictured is the bbq burger which is amazing! The beer cheese fries are great! I want to try everything but with everything there is to eat in OB I just ran out of time! Please try this place it is worth it!

Service and food was amazing, however the star of the show was a male Karen, let's call him Kevin. He owned some brewery down the street. Sours I believe. And lost his mind over ketchup. He berated the only worker and screamed obscenities at him. The employee was amazing and that guy was a dick. Get the shrimp po'boy. And tip heavily. They don't get paid enough to deal with this.
