Fast casual Chinese buns at a good price The fresh meat buns keep me coming back 5/5 perfectly soft buns with juicy filling, my tip is to order via the phone or in person, their website charges a fee Beef noodles - 3.5/5, the soup has good flavor and the meat is tender but the noodles can be a little too chewy Jasmine milk tea -4/5, average boba tea but they didn't charge extra for boba which I appreciate The inside is decorated nicely, lots of neon signs and each table has cute figurines under glass. Would come back mostly for the buns

A lot has changed since my initial review and not in a good way. In short, Bao Shi Yi is definitely becoming more like Bao Shi San. (#1) I have been finding that all of them have taken a step back, but this Med Center one especially. Let me count the ways:* They're close to empty each time I come there. I'm not sure if the takeout and delivery is supplementing the patronage but there is no one here besides the workers often.* Speaking of takeout, the containers are no longer the bougie branded ones they once had but now the standard toss'em after a single use. The others were sturdy and made for really quality takeout ware, but this clearly a cost saving measure. * Dumpling fail left and right. Steamed (水餃) ones are overly doughy and aren't exactly plump. The potstickers / fried dumplings are literally falling apart. It's a bad look and even more unappetizing when they're already so dry. * The congee is very thick. Less like porridge and more like a really hearty chili. The latter usually has meat and beans, but this congee is really more rice than anything else. Even for the century egg + pork (皮蛋瘦肉粥), the portions were skimpy but the rice was clumpy.* Customer service has strangely improved. Phone manners are better than ever, online orders are quick and effficient, and I've been pleasant surprised when I'm greeted up on entering.Things aren't getting cheaper and Bao Shi Yi is no exception. Their prices are a reflection of the Med Center/ West U area, so it can all add up quick. Currently they have their work cut out for them and I hope to see improvement soon. ___________(#1) Going from first (yi) to third place (san)

This place is a small little noodle and dumpling shop, but let me tell you when I say their items pack a whole lot of flavor! I was swinging my to pick up some lunch for my husband and discovered this little gem. The location I went to is located just outside Midtown and near the Houston Zoo, it's like it's own little shack in the middle of a small parking lot. When you walk in the decor is what catches your attention immediately, they have an amazing neon sign wall and their tables have a cute figurine set up. Then you walk up to the counter and there's a whole menu right above it. I was very surprised with how large their menu was, it really was like Chinese street food; noodles, steam buns, dumplings, Chinese hamburger, "popcorn" chicken, Chinese donuts, Chinese traditional pancake, and boba. The gentleman was very attentive and answered any and all questions that I had about the menu, I ended up ordering their BBQ pork baos (3 pieces), shrimp, pork, and chive dumplings (8 pieces) , braised beef noodles, Chinese hamburger, and their strawberry slush with cheese foam and coffee milk tea. Everything was fabulous! The BBQ pork baos were fluffy and hot and had so much flavor. The shrimp/pork/chive pot stickers were tasty as well, the dumpling wasn't really formed, they have it just folded over and pan fried. Their coffee milk tea was not too sweet and had the right amount of coffee to my liking. The hamburger, beef noodles and strawberry slush were for my husband, but he told me that they were very good as well, he informed me that the broth for the noodles was spicy. You can definitely tell that everything is fresh here, and their portion size is great! I can't wait to try their soup dumplings along with other items from their menu, they also sell their noodles and dumplings! They have a freezer/fridge out for display that you can choose from and purchase.

My favorite place to stop by on a workday. Hospitals are cold, and a hot bowl of spiced beef noodle soup or hot bowl of porridge, with a hot cup of soy milk really hits the spot! Almost always Asians here, it's pretty dang authentic to me! Never as crowded as their other locations

Baos were okay. Flavor was a bit off compared to usual baos we've had before. The orders did come out quickly and seemed fresh. Service was friendly and helpful. The interior is cute.

I should've looked up what gristle was before I ordered, so that was my bad when ordering the pork gristle noodle dish. I didn't enjoy all the bones and chewiness of some parts of the meat in my noodles. I also didn't think dish itself had much flavor. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dish and should've gotten some dumplings instead which I heard were good.

I was looking for a quick lunch around the medical center. I found Bao Shi Yi. The inside was very clean. I got hand sanitizer and wipes. I picked up vegetarian bao for $7. It was good. Whenever I ate Asian food with chopsticks, It made me feel my Asian DNA. Overall, I gave Bao Shi Yi 5 stars. Thanks!

We were welcomed into a quiet shop and mandarin music playing, it reminds me of a smaller hole in the wall, cafe-type restaurant with smaller menu items and aesthetic, minimalistic design. I did really enjoy the interior design, it was visually appealing and I did enjoy the unique tables. There was not too much in service, as the man at the front just took our order and delivered our food. The food was alright. We ordered the leek, egg, and shrimp dumplings as well as popcorn chicken and brown sugar milk tea. I thought my spicy popcorn chicken was not really spicy at all and the boba in the milk tea was undercooked or old. The dumplings were good though! And because that is what they specialize in, I do believe that's what they deserve to be graded on. I would definitely recommend their dumplings and would love to try other specialty dishes when I return.

Kind of disappointed about the pancake. It taste like uncooked starch mixed with so blend sausage. How they can call this as "煎饼果子"which is shamed of that name! Plus charge for it so ridiculous for 6.95$ with so tiny portion? Soup dumplings is ok with enough soup but barely see any meat inside. Beef noodle is fine but feel like noodles undercooked. not recommended to order the pancakes. Noodle is so so! That is why I gave them one star. Sorry not coming back!!!there is more good restaurants close by!
