It took me over 2 weeks to get into Wye Oak Tavern as the reservations fill up quickly. And I will say it's worth it and you should book as soon as possible for your upcoming dinner. This place is the real deal. First of all, there's controversy surrounding the bar. The Catholic Church operated it as a chapel, monestary and school until 2016. And they sold it to the owners who renovated it and turned it into a high class hotel, restaurant, bar, complete with a cute coffee/pastry area. They did a fantastic job. It looks amazing and it was built in the late 1800s so I can only imagine how hard this renovation was. I remember the renovation and it took a few years to get to this place. The bar sits outside the alter so as you are looking at or staying in the area, you will be close to the organ, the statues and stained glass windows you typically see in the church. The main elements were removed that were sacred, but if you've attended church, it might seem against what you know to drink and be merry in that space. If you are Catholic though, wine is served at communion so maybe not a huge stretch. The Catholic Church thinks the bar should be moved, but I doubt that will happen as it looks like the perfect space for gathering a lot of people. I will say it was cold last night out and everyone was wearing jackets at the bar. I was seated at a table near the bar and did end up putting mine on 3/4 way through the meal. High ceilings and an old building makes for trouble heating the place. I've been to a Denver nightclub that was in an old church that wasn't as tasteful as this was and let's face it, people in this area are older and kind so I don't think this place will lose business or have people disrespecting the space or what it stood for. What I saw was love and joy and people gathering peacefully. On to the service... Wow. This is the best service I've seen in a while and usually only found at fine dining in a major city. It's awesome. They are kind, everything you ask for comes out exactly as you imagined. They change out silverware and dishes, even when you haven't touched them. You have several people taking care of you and they are all in synch. For a new restaurant, it's not the norm so I really appreciated the service. The food was beautiful and extremely tasty. We started with oysters. It had what I think was a green chili take on the sauce and it was new to me and good. Sides were the fries and creamed spinach that has no cream. The spinach was so good I took the portion home that I was too full to finish. I don't know why it's so amazing, but trust me it's that good. I ordered the Picatta Swordfish which was amazing. Is one of the best main dishes I've ever ordered. My husband ordered the Prime Rib which was gorgeous and again, best, perfectly cooked piece of meat and I did eat some of his. It came with a creamy horseradish on it's own plate with (I think) a chili oil and olive oil that was a great dipping sauce for the meat. I dipped the meat fries in there as well. The cocktail drinks come in cool glasses and I ordered a sparkling rose and they opened the bottle fresh! I wish I had room for more, but that's all I could do for last night and will be back. I don't know if they valet for dinner, but it's not at the entrance if so (I peeked out the hotel into the courtyard and cars were parked so might be for hotel guests, not sure). I think the front restaurant entrance should be lit up and marked a little bit better, but we figured it out. We parked on East 3rd, a block away and I use to live on that street so it's very easy to park and walk over. There's a 2 hr limit, but you don't have to pay to park. Or if it's not cold and you want more time, just park at a downtown Frederick garage. This is a huge win for Downtown Frederick in every way.

I wanted to see what the hype was with this restaurant. When we were ordering our beverages our 2 first selections were not available. Please don't post this on your menu if you're not able to make it happen. We ordered appetizers which took 45-50 minutes to arrive but the worst part was that our entrees came before our appetizers! Hilarious! All appetizers and entrees were served without serving spoons. Our server was great but wasn't around. The food was more presentation that flavor. Being Italian, they cooked the rigatoni dead. Mush. No flavor on the sauce. We ordered dessert and lattes. I prefer my latte with my dessert as most restaurants serve this way. Lattes came after we finished our desserts. The Voltaggio brothers keep making the same mistakes as Volt and their other side kicks. Prices are that of a restaurant in downtown Honolulu. It won't last but best of luck.

Table of 8, please! Let me preface this by saying that my husband is not a foodie and very difficult to impress. Eating for him is a means to exist. I knew we were in for an exceptional treat when the steak tartare arrived and my husband literally groaned out load with the first bite! This was the sound of utter man pleasure and caught me off guard. I quickly set down my cosmopolitan (perfectly mixed btw) and dove in to this seemingly amazing dish. First off, it is served with a piping hot and audibly crispy potato cake. The tartare is finely chopped and has a mix of onions and capers. This is an old school tartare, not the foofoo type with a raw egg on top and I truly appreciate the nod to our culinary past. IMHO Perfection doesn't need all that extra stuff. The perfect bite? A small piece of potato cake with a helping of tartare on top. That crunch, the mouthfeel of an impeccable cut of expertly prepared meat. Mmmmmmm, i want to go back already!! And then the mains! My husband kept it classic with beef filet cooked to order medium rare, served with a Yorkshire pudding/popover and he ordered with a side of chived mashed potatoes. I had the cedar plank salmon wrapped in a chive pancake and an order of beef tallow fries. He said, "this is the best filet I've ever had"... i didn't believe him, so of course i had a taste and holy moly, the chef pulled it off! And this isn't a small, French restaurant piece of meat. This is a massive tavern cut of filet. I was shocked at how huge this meat was! Anyway, i absolutely love that the kitchen keeps this meat classic. Minimally seasoned, obviously high quality salt and cooked perfectly. Bravo! My cedar plank salmon was also prepared expertly. Not over cooked, which is common at most restaurants. The salmon definitely had a distinct Smokey, cedar flavor. The chive pancake that it was shrouded in was an interesting addition and had a nice flavor. Again, this portion was huge! Honestly, we could have shared one of these dishes and I'm a girl that likes to eat! The beef tallow fries were hot and supremely crispy, served with an aoli type sauce (delish) and a homemade ketchup that had a bbq tang. Oh and those mashed potatoes were off the chain!! Creamy, chivy... silky in the mouth. Our friends ordered the pork chop ( very juicy and tasty), the swordfish (had a slightly salty, sweet soy type glaze and i will likely order this next time) and the Prime rib which was massive! And also served with the popovers. Let me tell you, these portions are more than ample. The drinks are stiff and the service was absolutely sublime! Loved the interior which is in an old church. The bar is right up on the alter and the second floor has the old pipe organ. The restoration of this space is fabulous and i can't wait to take visitors back to experience this masterpiece in downtown Frederick!

Came for drinks on a Friday evening after 10p with friends and will def be returning for a meal next time. Service was somewhat slower than expected especially when it seemed as if multiple of the same drinks were being ordered. Receipts are presented in a mini "bible" which compliments the theme of the space. It's nice to have somewhere unique in downtown Frederick to visit, the crowd that night was 30-50s and some were even buying bottles of wine to share. The Tokyo High Ball was delicious, Almost Famous had a unique flavor profile and the In Crowd was a hit with the group of 6 I was with!

The food here is worth the hype. The items are inventive and delicious, and there wasn't anything we ordered that didn't exceed expectations. The surryano ham DIY sandwiches were a fun appetizer and the accompanying rolls and cheese spread were delicious. The prime rib was expertly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The standout best dish of the night was the lemon meringue dessert. I wish I could eat that every day! The service was a little lacking though--a drink order had to be placed twice and after our entrees we were at a nearly 20 minute standstill because no one realized we hadn't been brought a dessert menu. Will most definitely be back though, and looking forward to giving them 5 stars the next time!

Expectation: A celebration dinner (made reservations) for 14 people at an upscale restaurant- with ambience and great food. This was exactly what we were looking for-- it is a uniquely renovated monastery that is now a trendy (and much needed) boutique -y hotel in the heart of downtown Frederick. An impressive interior - when you walk in, you feel like you are in one of DC's more elite spots. The backdrop of the bar is a preserved altar with stained glass and dramatic lighting. It really is beautiful. They have valet parking - that is a plus if you don't feel like hunting for a spot. We tried almost half the menu items and would order almost all of it again minus the creamed spinach and the macaroni pasta. Some highlights: The pork chop (which is never something I order) was one of my favorites- juicy and full of flavor. The Cedar plank salmon was fresh and flakey- but I don't think the "pancake" is necessary- the texture is off putting. The rigatoni and ravioli were fan favorites at the table. One hundred percent- order those. The mashed potatoes were whipped to a buttery perfection. I really could go on ... I think this will be a staple in our downtown. (If you are still reading, we ordered every dessert - and all were decadent, but the giant warm chocolate chip cookies were surprisingly my favorite. ) Cocktails were fresh and unique and staff were friendly and attentive. We did wait about an hour for the food to arrive, but it was busy and we had a big group with plenty to sip on...

This is a newer restaurant inside a hotel in downtown Frederick. They renovated I believe an old girls catholic school? The bar is where the alter used to be, which gives it a really cool vibe. The architecture and artwork were really interesting. We ordered the fluke crudo, surryano ham, the pot roast and new york strip. The fluke crudo was perfect, my in laws generally don't eat raw fish but could not get enough of this. The surryano ham was good, but would definitely need more bread to go with it. The pot roast was so tender and fell apart as I was eating it, just what i like to see for this type of dish!! I was not a fan of the new york strip, but my husband enjoyed it. I will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes. The service was great, very attentive staff.

Such a unique, moody space. Valet parking is $8, street parking is doable. Lots of stairs nd the entrance isn't super clear. Great eats! Rigatoni was perfectly Al dente. Rockfish was cooked well. The pork chop was outstanding! The beet salad with the funnel cake was fine but not outstanding. The deconstructed lemon merengue was the shining star of the whole meal. Service was decent! You can see they are still finding their groove.

The food was very good including the filet mignon and the deconstructed lemon meringue dessert. The service was good---atmosphere was very casual about 60% had jeans on. The music was definitely too loud. You could hear it while checking in, in a different room. The "local chef brother"made an appearance at the bar and looked over the crowd but soon departed. The wine list was not great but way overpriced! It's an addition to downtown dining but not super impressive!
