Service was good; waitress was polite. Table was missing salt and pepper shakers, had to borrow from other table. Ambiance wasn't bad. Sounds like they have a cook in training so I'm sure things will improve. Got a soft pretzel, steak and cheese, and a Chicken cheese steak. Asked for a Chicken LTM, fried onions and lettuce. Was missing the LT. Probably due to new cook? Sub was about a 4 out of 5, could have used more mayo on the bun or maybe a moister sub roll, seemed too bready/dry for me.Steak and cheese was about a 3 out of 5. Soft Pretzel was well done; had a crisp to it; not very soft. Maybe in oven too long? The home made chips were good; I'd recommend those.

I've been there twice. Ate their special cioppino last week and the jambalaya this week. They got a new Chef that just came from california. The servers are talking about how good the food is and I have to agree with them. Both times I went there it was amazing. I don't like sitting in a bar eating so they have a very nice side dining room that was fairly upscale surprisingly. Natural Stone Wall front with pillars floor to ceiling and nice artwork. Service definitely could have been better as I did not get a refill quickly but I think this is going to be my new favorite place to eat. Dessert was homemade and tasted great it was the pumpkin cheesecake.

Part two: pick at my food and while unhappy, I stuck it out. We eventually requested to go containers. As our used dinnerware was removed by another waitress, she asked about our drinks. Turns out she was the bartender. Hubs enjoyed his (spicy jalapeño margarita) and I took this as an opportunity to ask about the type of vodka used in my "lemon drop martini." The explained why it was the color and taste in which it was. I requested another - with a more premium vodka (see attached picture) and was pleased. The second to the last disappointment came when receiving the bill. The lightly fried, "minimally up charge" onion rings to substitute in place of the vegetables, turned out to be the full al a cart price of $6.99. Hubs requested an order of tater tots (in addition to the home made chips that came with his sandwich) which cost $7.99 (frozen Ore Ida's, not homemade). Again, I let it pass; because at this point, I realized how my adventurous and stubborn spirit may not have been the best in this situation. Therefore, sending things back (which I typically never do anyway) would be moot and I had no one else to blame. We paid our bill, tipped as we always do, and left. Hours later I decided to really give the salmon and "potatoes" a taste. As not not be rude, I'll just say never, ever again. Please understand this was my experience, as others may love this place, and it's food. It's just a no go for us.

If I could give zero stars I would. No host stand to get a table and asked if we could sit. We sat and every waitress just walked by. 15 minutes and nothing--waste of time. Skip this place.

We went here after going pumpkin patch and this place was on our way home to Annapolis. We were a party of seven and sat at a table for eight. For appetizers we ordered the fried zucchini and the supreme nachos. The zucchini's came in like a French fries basket with a side of ranch. The ranch was ok but the fried zucchini was crispy and delightful. The nacho supreme was ok. The ground beef was tasty but the salsa tasted a little bit like it was canned.I personally had the baked ziti and for an extra charge I added chicken parmigiana. The baked ziti was cooked perfectly! The chicken parmigiana was crispy and delicious. Fair warning the dish sizes are pretty big, which is great to share or if you're starving. We sat in the dining area which was clean but nothing fancy. For those wondering the bathroom was really clean BUT the ladies room didn't have a mirror for some reason. All in all had great food and the staff was friendly at VCP! We got our appetizers pretty quick and our entrees followed pretty quickly. Definitely would recommend going here.

Part of me wants to give Vanessa's a 3 Star Average review, which would be on par with the overall Yelp rating. But, no, I can't as it is slightly sub-par. So 2.5 out of 5 is my final offer for this experience. We've passed this place many, many times on the way to the DC area or Mount Airy from our home. But we never stopped in, even when it was a J&P Pizza. I think I was turned off by the fact that the location is the site of a former gas station, and the patio area still resembles the fuel bays. But it always seems busy. But then again, there isn't much competition in this small area (Taylorsville). This evening Hubby and I were on our way to Mount Airy and needed to bring something to eat for an outdoor venue. So we tried Vanessa's for carry out. The carry out was great. But unfortunately, the food--not so. My Caesar salad with grilled chicken was just really bland. Granted I asked for dressing on the side. But the chicken was not seasoned/flavorless. We shared a small pizza. We did not love the crust ( thick and bready) and the sauce and cheese was "meh". And my slice was black and hard at the bottom. I'm hoping we just ordered the wrong things, or it was an off day. But I'm pretty sure next time we see the place on the corner of Liberty are and Rt 26, we'll be just passing by.

I've been going here since it was J&Ps. It was good for awhile but has been steadily declining in service and quality for a long time. Tonight took the cake. These are the most humorously tiny potato skins I've ever seen. They must have switched to baby new potatoes. They even bought tiny little containers have the size of the old ones. The prices have gone up though. Hilarious!

My cousin and i ordered food last night from here. First of all when i called to order, the girl was not friendly at all. She said they didn't serve breaded mushrooms anymore nor half the other appetizers i wanted which i find odd considering 6 months ago.. They did.I ordered a margarita pizza, mozzarella sticks and FRENCH fries.. I asked the girl for a large order of fries. After coming home, the pizza was awful. The cheese wasnt warm, i could have given someone a black eye with the crust. The FRENCH fries had cheese smothering them which is not what i ordered and i had one and it tasted like shit. My cousins little girl wouldn't touch them. The mozzarella sticks were hard and made me sick.We called twice asked for a manager.. Got put on hold twice for 10 minutes.. No one came on the phone.Do not order food from these people. Absolutely bad business.Rating negative 1

The food is very good but being short staffed is a down fall. Outside seating is nice and shaded.

Food was ok. Server very attentive and friendly. However, the air conditioning was not working well due to a recent power outage. This is understandable, but there was also a fan blaring behind the bar and nowhere near the suffering, customers who used their menus to cool off. Yes, employees deserve to be comfortable at work, but so do your customers who may be helping pay for a better AC and your light bill.
