Valley View Inn

This restaurant is unassuming, just a bit above basic. The bar is populated with locals enjoying each other's company. As you walk from the bar in front to the dining room, which is pretty good sized. Sit anywhereOur server was quick, and it was a great service!The food:My husband had the Navy bean soup(with ham), one of the days specials, and it was just right, The broth was flavorful, and it had a good selection of beans. It's really very hearty soup just as you would expect to be. He also ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. The pasta part was angel hair. The meat sauce was on the tart side, and as a surprise, there were 2 meatballs! The bowl with the spaghetti topped with mozzarella. All this came with a salad that came home with half of the spaghetti. I ordered the open face turkey platter, and there were 2 slices of bread, sliced turkey brest, steak fries, and gravy on everything. Actually, it was a bit salty.It was a lot of food, and half of that came home.The French Onion Soup is also yummy, maybe next time .Refills, no problem.There is lots of free parking, and there are no discounts.

The service we had was appalling. Went in at 2 for a quick bite with the kids. After 4 when we finally finished. Ordered nothing fancy. Difficult to get waitress' attention. Long time since we've been. Low chance of return.

Our friends had not been to Valley View Inn in years, so we decided to reintroduce them to this comfortable restaurant. We made a reservation for 6:00 PM. We all arrived a little early, and they had a table ready and waiting for us. I started off with the French Onion Au Gratin soup, which was loaded with onions in a delectable broth and topped with lots of cheese - just yummy. My girlfriend had the soup of the day - Minestrone and just raved about it. For her entrée, she had the Shrimp Scampi. The dish had 5 jumbo shrimp sauteed in garlic butter over angel hair pasta. Oh my, she was in heaven! Her husband had the Turkey Club with lettuce, tomato and bacon with French fries. My husband and I split the Ultimate Club, which had fresh sliced ham, turkey, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and bacon on white toast with a side of French fries. Tracy, our server, was a delight. She constantly was checking to see if we were okay and needed anything. You can never go wrong at Valley View - great comfort food and service!

Interesting place! Oddly brightly lit yet still felt like dive-bar with what seems to be alot of regulars. But not alot of smiles- staff was efficient but dour, patrons seemed to be somewhat down older folks sipping bottled beers. Smiles were had when I joked with folks a little, but overall mood was downer. No music playing either- made it oddly quiet. A few nice beers on tap, nothing too fancy - not a place for local IPAs, but a draft Yuengling hit the spot. Food wise - grilled prime rib was juice, tender, tasty. Mashed potatoes, gravy- tasty but clearly from box. Green beans with onion and bacon canned as well, but tasty. Wifey had fried shrimp, cole slaw, pickled beets - all good but all Sysco-type food service items. Prices were good - twenty bucks for prime rib, 15 for shrimp - so can't complain too much! All in all an adequate meal in a somewhat depressing setting! Think of decent quality retirement community food in a faded 80s fern bar.

Good service. Good food. Clean & tidy every time we've been there. Nice neighborhood place to gather with friends.

Service was disappointing. Server acted as as if our presence was a burden. They were out of 3 of 5 items we initally ordered. Food was average but not a compelling reason to return due to service.

This is my current favorite place for dinner, especially the happy hour specials. Never been disappointed in for our service here.

Calli was great ! The chili , however, was NOT ! It was watered down, I get that food costs are up, but don't ruin the best chili around just to cut costs. Very disappointed.

This place is a gem! Very friendly staff - huge shout out to Susan for her patience and good cheer!Large portions of very fresh food. If they tell you they have crab cakes (by themselves, not the sandwich) get one broiled. FABULOUS!Salads are delicious- we sampled several and all were really good. But all of this is just the lead up to dessert.they have a blackboard with a list of cakes. I wish I could have had everyone of them! We settled for sharing the Italian Lemon Cream and the Chocolate Salted Caramel Galaxy. O.M.G.The ta Ren is very close to the Morningside Home of Satyr Hill and is a great place to bring a family member for an outing. So glad we found it!
