Having just moved out of the city, I had been looking for a new go to vegetarian sushi spot in the Ellicott City area. I'm confident that I've found it with UMI Sushi! Tucked away in Old Ellicott City, this Main Street spot is serving up an impressive variety of inventive bites. Ordering takeout was a breeze and my order was ready as scheduled. The staff was warm and welcoming, and even sent me home with a thoughtful holiday gift, tucked into my takeout bag.I was truly spoiled for choices when it came to vegetarian roll options. I always appreciate when there are more creative options beyond the usual avocado roll, etc. for vegetarians. I ordered four different rolls to try--Secret Garden, Mixed Vegetable Roll, Futo Maki and a Sweet Potato Roll. All were exceptional, with the Secret Garden being the most unique.Looking forward to many more visits to come, UMI Sushi team!

Everything about UMI Sushi was top tier! From the quality, to the service, to the ambience, this is definitely one of the best places to get sushi in the area. My friend and I both started with martinis, priced at $13 and absolutely delicious. I personally favored the lychee martini but my friend had the matcha one and enjoyed it thoroughly. On to the food, we shared the garlic chili tofu, crab rangoons, and a seaweed salad for appetizers. Everything was delicious - but the best here was definitely the crab rangoons. The taste was great, and it was a good serving for two people. All of the sushi was fresh. The only one we didn't care for too much was the strawberry sake roll - it could've used some sort of crunch to make the texture a little different, and also more chili. But overall, all the rolls were delicious and we were happy with our choices. I would especially recommend the little red riding hood special roll! The service was attentive, they were a bit busy and forgot to bring our miso soup (it was free) but that's ok because we had plenty of food. I will be back!

Sushi was amazing!!! Definitely some of the best sushi I've had in Maryland. Rolls are very well priced for the quality and freshness of the fish. I started off with the crab Rangoon which were good but not spectacular. Next I got the lil red riding hood roll and it was BUST. Definitely get this one. I also got the lobster tail role which was good as well. Lastly they gave us complimentary cheesecake which was okay but it was free so whatever. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant.

This is one of my favorite sushi places in Ellicott City. Finding parking on Main Street can be tricky but there is a big parking lot a block away so I usually park there. They have an outdoor space that is very big with numerous tables. It is right next to the water so it's a nice place to sit.

This place has beautiful ambiance, great customer service, and fresh delicious sushi! Their sushi is an art form, you can tell whoever is making it doesn't just throw ingredients together! Lovely, would recommend if you're in old town Elkridge!

Service was great! Went on a Sunday and they were busy, but we had reservations and were seated right away. We ordered the lovers boat plus two specialty rolls and it was more than enough for 4 people. Love the sushi here. The only drawback, it can be a little cramped. When the weather is nicer, they have outdoor seating overlooking the river which is nice.

Came here for dinner one night with some coworkers. Overall not a bad experience. If you have anxiety around parking then maybe reconsider bc it is street parking along Main Street and wherever you find it. There are some lots around old EC but depending where it might require a little walk. The menu offers a wide range and your typical sushi menu items. The restaurant is big so it can accommodate larger parties or more of an intimate vibe of just 2-4 that's fine too! The service was good. There was a slight language barrier with the server and us so took some alternative modes of communication to figure it all out but nonetheless he was kind and consistently checked on us! The rolls were good too but definitely can add up in price quickly if you eat a lot of it!

This review is based solely on the service we experienced on Sunday. Umi's is usually my absolute favorite sushi restaurant in Maryland, however I don't know if it was because we got a new server or what was going on. The restaurant itself was not that busy while we were dining, maybe half full on the inside by the end of our meal. Our server kept disappearing everyone 15-30 minutes. We first got miso soup on the house, then it took another 15 for her to come back and get our order. We ordered the crystal shrimp dumplings, yellowtail jalapenos, and I ordered a lychee martini. The yellowtail jalapeños and the martini were fantastic. However, in between this and the sushi rolls, we waited about 20 minutes. We saw that our rolls were ready at the sushi bar, but our server was nowhere to be found. Another 10-15 minutes passed by and our server comes by and says that the crystal shrimp dumplings would be ready soon, after we were done eating our meal. She didn't apologize or say anything else. When they were ready, she just dropped them at our table and left again for another 15-20 minutes. We kept looking around for her but didn't see her and my husband was over it. As soon as we saw her again, we just asked for the check cause we wanted to get out of there. The food was great a 7/10, but service was a 1/10. I usually try to come here a few times a month and always had great service prior. Hopefully they get this situated because I would hate to see their service decline overall.

First time visit, if you have never visited Main St.Ellicott City be prepared for where to park before you go. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was filling up but waits did not seem prolonged.Service- they were busy but our server was quick and efficient. She did accommodate separate checks. The indoor seating is rather small so noises do carry but they also have a nice outdoor patio when the weather isn't too hot or to enjoy on a fall day.Food- The menu is quite extensive almost too extensive, it takes quite some time to get through it. That offers many choices or you can customize.Sashimi or sushi style is the most offered with a few different types of fish to choose from. There was not a large availability of different types of fish to choose from but what was probably most popular appeared fresh and tasted good. The slices of sashimi were almost a bit on the hefty side, not as delicately sliced but who can argue when you can have more fish to bite into. Two gluten free souls were able to request custom preparations for their dishes and this was done easily. Tonkatsu- very large cutlet but I was a bit disappointed at the outside crust was not as crispy as I prefer and the pork was a bit chewy. Black Dragon roll- several pieces of grilled eel, avocado and cucumber sushi. This had a flavorful eel sauce with slices of eel laid on top and tossed with sesame seeds. Japanese Fried rice with Shrimp was enjoyed by the owner who ordered this dish.Freebies- Small slices of "cheese cake" was offered complimentary to our group. I would say it was more on the cake side with a layer of cheesecake. It was not overly sweet and hit just the right sweet spot to end our meal. It's a popular place filled with locals along with those visiting this historic area, so they must be doing something right.
