We love the many vegan options! We ordered every vegan dish Tigi's offers and every single one was absolutely perfect. The food is fantastic, the pricing is great, there is nothing to complain about here :)

I loved trying Ethiopian food from here. I like the sour bread and eating with hands instead of utensils was an interesting experience. I really liked the beef tibs. That was absolutely delicious. There is a parking lot right in front so finding parking is pretty easy.

Tigi's is fantastic! This was my first time eating here after my sister recommended it. We came for lunch on a Sunday and there was one other family there. The service was pretty quick and fairly attentive, and the food came out hot and fast! We started with the vegan sambusas, which came with a spicy red sauce that was so delicious. They're made with lentils and I saw another reviewer mention it was dry, which I agree but it was still super tasty. Two of our party ordered the Combo #3 with beef and onion, lentils, lamb, braised cabbage, and fava bean. I had the Yebere tips that came with braised cabbage and it was delicious. I saw other reviewers say the portions are small for the price but I thought the portions were great, I had plenty leftover to eat for dinner that night. Another person in our party had the gored gored, which is a spiced raw meat dish and I thought it was fantastic. We ended with coffee and the presentation was wonderful and the coffee was delicious. I will be back here for more!

I'm not an adventurous guy but I love exploring new things. I know it is the greatest dichotomy of my life. One of the people I admired the most was Anthony Bourdain. He was a gifted storyteller. But what kept me glued to the tv when he was on was how he shared the humanity in all of us. He went to areas of this world where we were terrified of venturing into. And then we learn that these people that we fear are just like us. They are us. And I loved that about him. Instead of keeping people out, he brought them in and vice versa. It was one of those episodes I watched on TV that had stayed with me. It was about Ethiopia with chef Marcus Samuelsson. After that episode, I immediately looked up Ethiopian restaurant in the area. Tigi's was the closest I found. I said to myself, I am going to try it out. That was more than 6 years ago. Life gets busy and you put things off. I couldn't believe that much time had passed. I saw something yesterday that reminded me-what I I said to myselfI back then. No excuses. I am not leaving this planet until I try this. And the timing was right because the wife asked me to pick up dinner. And of course I felt some trepidation about the unknown. I am willing but is she? So I did what every normal person does. I ordered Chinese as well as the Ethiopian. Always have a backup plan. I studied the menu and not knowing what to order, I order the meat combo 3 which covers a lot of their offering. The place was empty at 5pm with some carry outs. And I talked with the owner for a bit. Very friendly and personable. I looked around the market. Reminded me of the small tiny Korean grocery store you would find back in the old days. Forgive the ramblings of an old man but let's go on to the food. Remember what I said about not being adventurous, and my wife even far less than I am. Well, the first thing I noticed was the scent in the car when I stepped in. It was not pleasant and I said oh no. I made a mistake. I drove home but that smell dissipated somewhat but I was still skeptical. When I got it in the house, there was no smell. I opened it up inside and I have to warn you, it is not for some people. The injera, which is a very very spongy textured type of bread is like nothing I have ever seen or felt before. I mean seriously, it looked exactly like the stomach lining of an animal. If you seen one, you know what I mean. So that aesthetic threw me off immediately. But damn it, I am going to give it a go. Wife was even more taken a back by the appearance. She asked what that was. I explained, as I had studied some videos before ordering. We broke the injera and used our hands as is customary and you know what? It was an incredible journey of flavor and texture. I loved the spices and everything about the meal. I am ordering everything dark next time because the darker items have the extra spices that I loved. And to my pleasant surprise, my wife loved it as much as I did. Yes, this is going in our regular rotation from now on. Keep your mind open to new people and things because you never know what you have been missing or needed.

Would you believe this was my first time stopping in Ellicott City? I was taking my cousin out for his birthday... he didn't know what he wanted, but we came up with Ethiopian food. So we found this place pretty easily, and there was ample parking. Didn't look like much from the outside! We stepped in, and we were in a full Ethiopian market, ooooooh! We told the person at the register we wanted to dine in -- we could see the tables on the other side. We got seated immediately, grabbing one of the last few remaining open tables. It's a no frills dining space, but there is lovely art on the walls. We got menus and water, and decided what to eat. There are a couple of combos to choose from, and we went with Combo #3, which gets us a variety of tibs and we get to choose veggies too (we got greens, lentils and fava beans). Everything was delicious and filling. We had to ask for injera a couple of times, haha. The spices were there and the food was flavorful but it's not top 3 for me... but it wasn't bad at all, don't get me wrong! On the way out, I got some injera crisps from the market, and whew were they delicious -- it wasn't my first time having them, mind you. But there are few places you can find them, so I had to take advantage! Anyone in the area should definitely check this market / restaurant out.

I got the 4 way vegan platter which had kik alicha, misir wot, shiro wot, and bakela wot. It was pretty satisfying! My favorite was the lighter colored orange one which was more puréed. I'm thinking this might be the shiro wot because this is usually my favorite dish. I wasn't too crazy about the kik alicha- it lacked a little salt. But that one dish carried the whole thing for me. I may come back just for the shiro!

First time trying Ethiopian food so I didn't know what to expect!!! To my surprise it was delicious...the seasoning was great and not to spicy! The meals that I had came with the Ethiopian bread which is very soft and somewhere between cooked and a raw texture! The bread goes very well with the food when mixed in with it( no utensils you gotta eat it with your hands). We were assured the bread takes some getting used to but over time it gets better!!! So I will be going back to see if this holds true ! We also had a sweet mango drink which complimented the lamb dish well with the spiciness of the dish.I will be trying again to give update on the bread....**Update**RETURNED...the bread does get better!!!! Once again everything was great!!

I was craving Ethiopian food, but didn't want to make the commute over to the spot I go to in downtown Baltimore. This place is tucked away in a strip plaza and has a authentic Ethiopian store attached. My husband and I ordered goat tibs to share. The food was fresh and the service was fairly fast. There was only one other couple there when we showed up mid-day Sunday. I appreciated the freshness of the food, but it didn't quite satisfy me the way my standard place does. As a result, I would only return if I happened to be in the neighborhood. In my opinion, the biggest areas of opportunity are in the portion size and flavor. I like a richer flavor and a bit more moisture/sauce in the tibs.

I've had Ethiopan food a couple times so I thought I knew what to expect but the flavors used for this food were in my opinion not good at all. I ordered the vegan sampler on Teff injiri. The Injiri had a strong lemon juice flavor that overpowered everything else. The tomato salad was raw veggies absolutely covered in cayenne pepper powder. For me, it was inedible. I'm estimating there was about half a teaspoon of pepper powder in the salad. I never would have expected a fresh salad to be spiced like that. The Misir Wot was heavily spiced with cayenne pepper powder as well and ruined the flavor of the lentils. I could not eat that either. The more mild sides were quite bland, but I was glad to be able to eat them. I wanted very badly to enjoy the food but the lemon juice injiri and all that cayenne pepper gave me a stomachache. I'm wondering if this is how Ethiopian food is usually spiced?

The food is always delicious. It's a good idea to set aside some time for it to be delivered. Also, it's good to ask if something is spicy if that is not your taste.
