I was reminded of this place recently and so today we took advantage of the nice weather. Thursdays and Fridays they are open from 11-2 for carryout lunch. Pit beef, turkey and ham as well as pork BBQ and smoked sausage. Pick a meat, pick a bread (kaiser roll, wheat or rye), pick sides if wanted (chips, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese). They have a full beverage cooler and even cookies. Walk in, order your meal, move to the side to pick up your condiments, napkins, utensils and your meal is packed to go in minutes. We drove over to nearby Linthicum Park to enjoy our lunch outdoors. This place is in a kinda tight spot but if they had room for outdoor dining, they would have my five stars.

Always on the lookout for a great pit beef sandwich (aka MD BBQ), wanted to give this play a try. This is complicated because they only serve pit beef during lunch on Thursdays and Fridays. This sandwich is almost a complete 180 from the last pit beef sandwich I ate from Beefalo Bobs. Unlike their overly smokey beef, The Pit Sandwich barely had any smoke flavor. The beef was sliced out of an alto shaam (hot box) rather than off a pit. The result was nicely cooked, if not a little cool, beef that really lacked any pit flavor/texture. It would have benefited from salt and pepper. Not saying it was not good, but was more like roast beef than pit beef. Pioneer still reigns supreme. On to the next one.

Went here for lunch. I was actually surprised by all of the negative reviews. This place was actually pretty good! I had the Italian Sub, potato salad, and a pickle. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the pickle, since it wasn't pickled very much, and had a very strong cucumber taste. This is just personal preference though.Quick great place to grab some lunch though!

This place 5 years ago was a solid 4 stars on its way to 5 stars. They specialize in catering lunch to the business community. However during the last few years...they slipped and slipped badly......Their shrimp salad sandwiches on croissant was a big hit. Big morsels of shrimp...with a nice thick sauce...but it is on the salty side...too bad...the salt disguises the flavor of the shrimp.. Still a hit but many people in my office are getting tired of it...because its the only notable sandwich from 700.The other sandwiches are in need of a radical make over to bring this company back to its former glory. Imagine going to a deli...getting some meat...take 3 to 4 slices and putting it on some wheat or white bread that you got from the bread isle. That's their recipie. They give you 2 thin slices of tomato and a piece of lettuce that is 3" x 3" in size...packed in a styrofoam cup. They put in a small bag of chips, 2 cookies...(used to be 4.5 star cookies...now they are 3 stars at best), a soft drink and a cup of ice in a fancy paper bag. That lightens your wallet by $9 plus tip to the delivery person.. When they first started out...the meat on the sandwiches were almost a half inch thick....now its lucky to be 1/8 inch thick. The Italian sub is a 3 star...standard fare however...cold cuts, cheese...and the rest like above. My kids can make the same quality sandwich if they went to the supermarket and bought the ingredients. Totally uninspiring...and nothing noteworthy. The food is just edible and takes the edge off of famine during a noon time meeting. The chicken salad is so very plain and uninspiring....cut lettuce in 1 inch squares, grated white cheese...steamed chicken sliced up...(if its grilled...there isnt any color to indicate anything other than steamed)....Ummm no thanks...there are fortunately more recent competition in the area for this company that started out great...but milked its reputation too much. 2 stars because they cut way too many corners after they became big and successful.(Am I sounding disappointed????)

In my opinion, 700 South is alright, but no better. I've enjoyed the shrimp salad sandwich, the chicken salad sandwich, and the cookies. But like the other reviewer said, most of the sandwiches are just a little plain deli meat on bread, which definitely doesn't justify the price.

Great little deli and sandwich place!!! Shrimp salad sandwich (giant pieces of shrimp), Italian Cold Cut Sub, Turkey Club and their potato salad are my favorites! Their Maryland crab soup is also very good. It's a family-owned deli with great homestyle food. Good service, but parking sucks!!!
