The Crab Shack -Edgewater

Service was friendly and the food was absolutely perfect. Fresh crab cakes done exactly the way I like them, without any nonsense and let the crab shine! Would be back many times if we lived in the area. Great place and great food.

I ordered a 1/2 dozen large crabs last night and half of those were very watery and hollow. I also ordered fries and they were rock hard, cold, and tasted old. Maybe ordering crabs 90 minutes before closing was a bad idea but at the same time, I expect to receive fresh and quality crabs. I don't know that I'll be back anytime soon.

After a busy, blustery cold day on The Yard, I decided to have an order delivered to my hotel. It's Maryland, so I ordered the cream of crab soup and a crab cake with coleslaw. The soup was tasty, and the crab cake was authentic but a little bland for my taste. The coleslaw was fine, but unremarkable. I'd easily visit this restaurant next time, but ordering in seafood, even on a cold night, is always going to be hit or miss.

Crab cake was okay, but a bit mushy inside. Some degree of mushy is to be expected given that crab is not a crispy substance. But it almost seemed a little bit undercooked inside. Outside it was crispy. And there was not a lot of filler. All in all the crab cake met expectations. The fries were terrible. I asked for them extra crispy and they were anything but. They seemed a little bit stale. Service could not have been better. Dining room was clean. Plenty of convenient parking. Salad was mediocre. Blue cheese salad dressing is obviously from a jar, and a jar with a lot of vinegar in it. Blue cheese salad dressing should not have a vinegar taste.

Ordered 1 dozen Colossal steamed crabs for $165.At a glance they were mouth watering!As we handled them, we both commented they felt light in weight.The gentleman who took my order was extremely nice!As we proceeded with our little feast we found all the crabs to be dry.The worst issue was when we found a mushy crab. We googled to see if it was ok to eat...NO was the answer because it meant the crab was dead before steaming. ***Several months ago, my friend and I ate a dozen jumbos AT the restaurant and they were perfect. Corn on cob was delicious too!

Yes, recommend for crabs and other seafood. Everything we had was great (definitely took leftovers home). Had the super jumbo crabs; they were huge. Good old bay wings. Only thing I found slightly odd was location and decor. Was well inland on the main drag, but decor mixes classic diner with eating by a fishing pier. Service was very nice/courteous (order at the register/bar and they bring your food to the table).

I've been looking for a nice casual seafood place after Annapolis Seafood closed, but this is not the place. While the employees were very nice and helpful for us first-timers, the food was lacking. The clam strips looked promising, large handbreaded pieces, but there were many that were gritty which ruined the flavor. The cream of crab soup had an overwhelming sherry flavor. The fish was fishy, like it wasn't the freshest. I will say that the fries were good OC-style French fries and serving the sweet and crispy hush puppies with honey butter was a nice touch. They had a lot of steamed food on the menu, so maybe that was better.

I am a total crabcake snob. I stopped there today for lunch and I must say it is the third best crabcake I have ever had. Some places put in too much filler or binder, Old Bay or mustard. This had none of that. Definetly top of the class.

Very beachy vacation ambience. Fun variety of sporting events on multiple screens. Manager very quick to respond to request for captioning on screen, and knew how to turn it on!Food: HITS - Onion rings have delicious battering, and onion itself has beautifully cooked yet firm texture. Fried calmari well cooked with firm texture. Lemon aioli tastes more like vinaigrette with strong flavors - absolutely delightful! Rib shooters have flavorful sauce without being overpoweringly spicy. Pork is tender and rich. Cocktail sauce light and just the right amount of heatMISSES - Fried green tomato special not worth eating. Overcooked slippery tomato, batter/ breading slips off, crab sauce seems to be there to hide poor execution. Fried bay scallops were what i'd expect from grocery store frozen scallops.

I paid 62 dollars for 7 shrimp and a cluster of crab legs which were just mush . I couldn't even get the meat out the shells. After a few mins the butter turned to sludge. The crab legs also had A fishy taste like they have been reheated more then once. As for the oysters. They were so tiny I couldn't even barely get them off the shell. They did not appear fresh as they were sticky and not wet. I'm very disappointed as I was hoping for the food to be good.
