TASTE OF THE ISLAND & SOUL FOOD

So I would really give it 4.5 if I could! The oxtail were seasoned perfectly! However, I got quite a bit of fat on the oxtails don't judge me, I still ate some! LOL I was also hoping to Mac n cheese would be cooked a certain way (baked with a nice layer of cheese on top), but I got mostly macaroni noodles with some cheese. The cabbage was really good tho! No complaints there! I did pick up and noticed a little pool area that looked like fun! So if you want to dine in they have an area. The staff was really friendly and my food was out in about 5-6 minutes. If you're ever in the area and have a hankering for Jamaican I would certainly give it a try!

Taste of the Island Soulfood in Severn, MD can be a hit or miss dining experience. Located in a seedy section, it's important to be mindful of the surroundings. While there may be times when you call and find they're out of certain items, when they do have their Caribbean dishes like jerk chicken, curry chicken, and brown stew chicken are top-notch. Their American-style offerings such as Mac & cheese, chicken wings, and cheesesteaks are consistently well-seasoned. They also occasionally serve breakfast. On a good day, you can enjoy some really delicious food, and the ownership is known to be friendly and respectful.

The food is absolutely phenomenal and well above my expectations! I ordered curry chicken, collard greens, and cabbage and every bite has been amazing.

Ordered the oxtails.Not a lot of meat in the oxtails and they were drowned in gravy with a lot of fat. The service was decent but I will not be visiting again.

I am very disappointed in my purchase this time. I haven't been here in over a year or longer. This place has changed. They are understaffed. On this particular day. They only had one female working by herself and doing it all. I ordered the whiting fish. Which was alright but my spinach was very salty. I'm pretty sure it was canned smh.They were out of curry goat. I also ordered a side order of cucumber salad. It was drowning in ranch dressing to the point that I didn't even want to eat it.They closed off a portion of the carryout and put up a big wall.The online pictures show tables and booths which made me consider coming back because I actually thought they had upgraded but boy was I wrong.It was hot with no air conditioning. I definitely won't be back. I hope the manager pay attention to his employees and give them the support they need. That way they can pay better attention to the presentation and preparation of the food. He doesn't seem to care much about his staff. Which is a shame because she was very nice. Good employees are hard to find.

Had this today if I could rent it is zero I would where is Jamaican food ever I have spice taste to it but no flavor and service was slow

Won't be back, food is not the same as it used to be. Oxtails were tough and tasted old. Cabbage was dry and not thoroughly cooked. Bit some rice that was still rock solid. Service was mid and the prices are out the roof. Quality of food does not meet price expectations. Disappointed and sad as this used to be my favorite to go spot.

Horrible representation for Jamaican food. The jerk chicken was all bones and the meat was harder than the bones way too expensive. Don't waste your time.

The curry chicken was absolutely horrible. Didn't taste anything like Jamaican curry, more like sweet Indian curry.

If you want an attitude served with your food come here!!! the Hispanic lady is extremely rude and blamed me for the poor packaging of her employee. They need to do better. And they need to look at who is picking up orders.
