Mmmmmm! Good ole' comfort food in the form of tacos and home-cooked chips. We wanted some tacos and this spot was close, rated high on Yelp, and that's all we needed to know.Don't let the outside deceive you. Once you walk in you'll smell the fresh cilantro and chile. It took a bit to translate the menu, but you'll figure it out. There are plenty of options. The server helped us figure it out and we were set. I ordered the El pastor tacos, beans & rice, and tortilla chips. The tacos were theeee best! What I loved the most is that the corn tortillas didn't fall apart!!! I hate it when I go to eat a taco and it falls apart. They cooked the tortillas enough so they held up, but were still soft. Did I already say how good the tacos were?! Along with the meat is cilantro, some onions, and you can top it with some green chili sauce. Sooooo good! The pico de Gallo was some of the best I've ever had. I know what you're thinking. How could you go wrong with pico de Gallo? Yeah, I wonder the same thing, but this pico was FRESH with just the right ratio of tomato, onion, cilantro, etc. Next time I'll order two of them. The chips are restaurant-made. That was our first indicator that the food was going to be ALL that we hoped it would be. AND it was.The beans were pinto beans. Memories from home and the ultimate comfort food. The were cooked perfectly with just enough seasoning. The rice was perfectly cooked too. This is the taco spot you need to try.

The entire menu looks great, but I really wanted tacos so that's what I was going to get. I ordered takeout from the counter. Super nice service. Good music, and clean restaurant. The tacos taste amazing.

I loved this place so much that I immediately posted it on @amandatheepicure This unassuming restaurant has awesome, authentic Mexican foo. We all loved everything we ate! Carne Asada--so good that we cleared the whole plate Taco Assortment--El Pastor, Carnitas, Taco Arabe were all delicious Taco Arabe--is a special taco with Middle Eastern influence, hard to find around here and veryyy good (my friends favorite taco!)Gorditas--you chose the meat and I asked what was best. The marinated pork was recommended and it was absolutely the correct move. It was also so cheesyBurrito Campechanos--steak, sausage, and pork rolled into a tasty burrito!Guacamole--controversial because there are tomatos in it, but that's my preference. It has more tomato than avocado. The prices are great ($14 carne asada, tacos are $4 or less) and our waitress was lovely. It's BYOB The menu is in Spanish so be prepared to Google when you don't know what something is

The al pastor is mouth watering and a delicious treat absent of pretentiousness. The food is the star. If you want authentic food, you need to visit this great team of real people making comfort food. The ambiance is not fancy but take this to the park or to-go and pair it with a cold beer.

This place has the best taco in Baltimore. Do yourself a favor and come here for the el pastor. It is cooked the right way, on a spit, and then crisped up on the flat top with pineapple. And it's only $3.

I'm quite sad having lived so close to Taqueria Vargas for 6 years and barely trying it for the first time now. I ordered take out and although it did take much longer than quoted I was able to watch a very talented woman cook in the open kitchen preparing my order. I'm so glad Yelp steered me to try Picaditas with meat because they were absolutely divine and I had never heard of these before. 3 come in one order which is very generous. I also tried lengua and Al pastor tacos, the latter which were super juicy and perfect with the added pineapple. I am from a border city in Texas and think this place is very authentic. Definitely the best Mexican food I've had in Baltimore. Looking forward to trying other menu items!

This is a great local and affordable mexican restaurant! Stumbled upon this place for dinner one night, and left full and happy! The service was quick, and we received our order very soon.We started with the queso fundido which was delicious and covered in chorizo. The chips weren't my favorite, as they were quite thick, I personally prefer thinner ones, but it depends on what you like. I got the Picaditas with carne; and I absolutely loved it! It was definitely one of the best mexican dishes I've had since moving to Baltimore. My boyfriend got the burrito with carne and enjoyed that as well. Additionally we each got a horchata, which was much sweeter than typical, but I happen to enjoy it that way! Everything came out to be less than $35, which felt like a great price.

I never leave reviews but I ordered this on uber eats and it was so good I had to leave a review! Excuse the pics because I had already started eating before I took the pictures. The guacamole was super fresh, loved it. I got a carne and beef tongue taco which were also amazing and came with lime and salsa verde. My favorite thing by far was the picaditas! I've never had them before but they were sooooo good. Overall we had an amazing experience and you should definitely give them a try! Super authentic very good food and super inexpensive!

One of the top taco joints in the city. We ordered carne asada, pollo, language, and tripa. The tortillas as homemade and crisped on the plancha so you don't even mind that they only single wrap the tacos. There's only salsa roja and limes to adjust the seasoning, but the salsa is really good with a moderate level of heat. My favorite of the meats we ordered was probably carne asada, my husband's was the tripa, but they were all really good. The table service was quick and friendly. The horchata was very sweet and bit like something I would make at home from a mix but honestly it hit the spot. This place is up there with Cinco de Mayo Dos, maybe just behind Sabor del Parque due to the limited number of non pork filling options. But all three are up there at the peak of Bmore tacos.
