Sweeter Side Bakeshop

I stopped by this little bakery in Pasadena, MD last Saturday morning and it was a treat! They were so patient and helpful, taking time to answer all my questions about the baked goods. And I loved the decor. The soft colors of green and natural wood tones gave a stylish comfortable feel that made you want to linger, with little personal touches here and there. They had an amazing selection of danish, croissant, cinnamon roll, and muffin style parties along with fresh bread, cupcakes, mini bite sized desserts and slices of cake. Even though I really wanted to get one (or maybe two ) of everything I ended up settling for a pastry box (muffins, cinnamon roll, and a danish), a mini pastry box (with pumpkin cheesecake, pie, brownie, and more) and a slice of carrot cake. I downed three of the mini pastries the first night as an after dinner dessert . The cheesecake, a yummy chewy brownie thing and some sort of tart. And the black bottom muffin (so big I cut it into two halves) went great in the morning with my coffee. I ended up sharing the rest with family... it is the season for giving after all. ‍ I'll definitely be making this a regular stop when I'm in the area. And may even use them instead of the grocery store to order special occasion cakes. While I was there I saw one of the workers decorating a custom designed cake and asked the owner about it. Apparently she had a thriving specialty and wedding cake business for over a decade pre-COVID. Definitely worth the calories!

Sweeter Side Bakeshop made an awesome cake for my in-laws 90th birthday party! I gave them very specific instructions about what I wanted and they delivered exactly what I asked for. The cake was beautiful and everyone at the party agreed that it was one of the best tasting cakes they'd ever had. I also tried their chocolate croissants - loaded with tons of chocolate and delicious. What a wonderful, local, woman-owned bakery!
