I was pretty excited for trying Nigerian food for the first time, as my friend in nursing school told me so any good things about her heritage. As ordering I found the man behind the register kind but annoyed bc I didn't know what to order, he was helpful. He took me from the kiosk to the register he was on. I got my food which cost $70 for a chicken suya, beef jollof rice and a side of fufu. The chicken was nothing but big bones no meat at all, not even fat just bone and gristle. The 4 beef cubes were so hard I couldn't even bite through them. I retuned the food telling him it was nothing but bones and he laughed in my face and said oh I'll put another one in. At this point I wanted nothing more to do with this place. I feel I was over charged for crap I wouldn't even feed my dog. I would never recommend or return to this place again. I give -0 for this place.

Hear me out... I've never had the desire to try Nigerian food. My friend -who is from here but lives in Georgia told me abt this place when she came to visit recently. It's fun to eat, the flavors in the Egusi are SOOOO complex, you have to be a bit of a foodie. It was delicious. Piping hot it came to my door. So flavorful. I clearly ordered ordered pizza just in case lol -- ve been reading a lot in the portions and it's perfect for myself. I'm not sure abt the pricing. I have nothing to compare it to in order to complain. When you are afoodie you tend to spend money on food like others spend on amazon. I didn't get it in the restaurant so I'm unsure of the ambiance. Service good I would say considering how hot and fresh my food was. Greatness.

Seen Suya Spot in Owings Mills for quite some time and I always told myself that I was gonna try it someday. I was eager to try out some Nigerian cuisine there and when I found out that there was a new location in the Towson area I decided that this would be the one to try since it was closer to where I reside. Pulled up to the restaurant and it was quite accessible off of Joppa road with its own parking lot. When we walked in we noticed a very clean establishment and one employee that was standing near the back of the front counter area. We were trying to figure out where the flow of the line began as there weren't any signs that directed where to start as there was somebody ordering ahead of us. Once we figured out that hooking around the right to the left toward the touchscreen ordering machines was possibly the way to start, we began ordering our food. I decided to try the Chicken Suya and my partner went with what we believe was the Ayamase with the white rice, stew, and egg. After discussing later, she wasn't sure if she even received what she ordered which was confusing. We sat down to the left of the counter area and waited for our orders to be ready. One of the employees called out to us over the wall of the counter eventually to let us know they were ready. The wait wasn't long so we were feeling pleased to be served pretty quickly and so we sat down and dove into the meals. As soon as I tried the chicken meat it was literally like my mouth was set on FIRE. The level of heat was overwhelming and literally PAINFUL. For those that need any clarification it wasn't because the food came out freshly cooked and literally steaming hot, it was actually the level of pepper they seasoned the meat with! Please keep in mind that I love spicy foods and am a seasoned veteran you could say of hot foods as well but this was ridiculously over-the-top hot. I couldn't even taste any of the flavor of the chicken and within seconds tears began steaming down my face from the painful heat of the spice. I felt like I was on a "Hot Ones" challenge and at the very end of the hot sauces to help you understand the level of heat and pain that I was experiencing. My partner across from me was experiencing the same exact thing. She told me that she was expecting some spiciness and some heat but nowhere near this level! Every single attempt to bite or chew the next few morsels of food was AGONIZINGLY painful. It felt like we were being TORTURED the more we tried. We decided to pack up the food and leave because it was just a horrible experience that we weren't prepared for.I try to be very objective in my reviews and I don't like giving out low ratings but I have to give this establishment a 1-star because it almost seemed as if it was done on purpose. On the drive after leaving the restaurant we recalled that there weren't any options that we can remember on if we could choose the heat level at all and the gentleman that we spoke to as we left the restaurant (which I believe was the manager? I'm not sure but he was wearing a different colored uniform than the counter employee) wasn't really helpful and he literally laughed in our faces when he asked us what we ordered. It's been 5 days since this experience and our stomachs are still not fully recovered from the horribly hot food. I think that the owners of this restaurant need to seriously check-in with their cooks or chefs because anybody that comes here (especially if it's their VERY first time) shouldn't be experiencing this. We've both tried African cuisine before and from what we know the spice can add a kick and compliment the flavors and enhance the taste but it should never be so hot that it overpowers it. I understand that this is a new location and maybe there needs to be time to properly hone in on the cooking but this was terrible for a first-time experience for us and we both kind of decided that we wouldn't want to return to this restaurant if there wasn't any accountability of some kind when it came to what happened. I unfortunately will have to give this restaurant a 1-star rating and I really hope they take care of their level of spices because nobody should ever have to experience this. Also, the entrees all seem to be very pricey for the amount of small portions they offer. It doesn't seem like any of the meals offer a drink either so you'd have to purchase it all separately which costs even more.

First time here but loved the lamb schwarma and plantains. Delicious! Owner was there and super nice and personable to guests. Everything was clean, including the bathrooms. Very easy ordering process. We will be back to try more items off the menu. Please support this business to help keep them afloat!

Ordered and paid via kiosk. Was told afterward that they were out of something I ordered (greens) but because no manager was on duty they couldn't refund me. I asked for plantains as a replacement. Out of that too. I asked for a suggestion for a replacement but employee couldn't offer an idea. I finally just said add a soda. So I paid for $9.99 for greens but got a soda. Got home and the lamb shawarma wrap my daughter ordered was very good, but my shrimp with jollof rice was SO spicy I couldn't eat it. I ordered the medium spice, not the hottest (native). I like spice. I eat hot food, hot sauce etc. this was so hot my lips swelled. my daughter (who is good with spice) had one bite and almost cried it was so hot. The portions on my order were very small, 4-5 shrimp and a small portion of rice for $20. I paid $50 for my meal, the wrap and a water. I couldn't eat mine it was so hot. Very disappointed.

First of all, this location is really new. Their original spot is in Owings Mills, MD. Never been there, this is my 1st experience with West African/ Nigerian food. The closest thing experience I've had to this would be Ethiopian, of which I really enjoy.Ordered carry out, but I would eat there. It was super clean and I think it's because the location was so new. We ordered Beef Suya, Jollof Rice with Beef, Iyan/Fufu, Efo Riro, and a Moi Moi. It was what we thought would be a good representation of the restaurant and cuisine. 1st impression, we thought this was a small amount of food for what we paid. For a similar cost, we could have gotten 1/3- 1/2 more food if we chose an Indian restaurant. (If you can't tell, we like spicy food). The Beef Suya was a portion of sliced beef with spices and onion....that's it. Roughly 8 oz of sliced beef and 2 tablespoons of chopped raw red onion. It was delicious, spicy and super unique flavor, but came with nothing else. No bread, rice or other accoutrement. Didn't even have the tomato as it said it was supposed to come with. Buyer's remorse for $15. The jollof rice with beef was also tasty. 4-5th time I've had Jollof and this was one of the best tasting. The downside is that you're getting roughly 2 cups of cooked rice with 4 oz of fried beef for almost $20. The rice was great, but the beef was almost inedible. It was fried so dry that you almost broke a tooth trying to chew it. I think we'd order this again, just without the beef. Again buyers remorse, $20 kinda hurts for this. The Moi Moi, was interesting. The best way I can describe it is as an African Tamale....i know I'm sorry I'm a horrible writer, but it gives you a good picture of what I had. The flavor was great, could use more egg in it, the packaging threw me off, but no regrets on this one. For $9, it's a solid quick lunch. The Efo Riro was purchased separately on a whim because the team at the restaurant allowed us to sample it first. It's a spinach side that was easily the best thing we tasted. I honestly can't describe the flavor as it's so unique to me, but I could eat a whole pot of this on my own every day. Popeye would kill to eat this. They added a few pieces of that fried beef and tripe to it I guess for texture. Look, it's $20 for a small container of spinach and 2-4 pieces of meat that was difficult to eat. I'd rate it higher if it came with something to eat it with like rice or bread. (Also lose the fried beef) I did pick up Iyan/fufu because i was curious after seeing it on Top Chef. I used it to eat with the spinach and it was pretty damn good. I gave this place 2 stars because the pricing, portions and how things were put together were way off. (This could be my biased view as a western born diner, but I stand by my feelings here) I'll give this place another shot, because some of the flavors were amazing, it's in the historical location of the Bel-Loc Diner (Starbucks can go **** it,) but man, I'm gonna be a little more careful in how I order.

If there were zero stars, I would have selected it. DO NOT order directly from this restaurant. They are fraudulent. I just placed an order and half of the food that I ordered was not delivered. When I called the restaurant, I was told that there was nothing they could do about it. They acknowledged that they did not have the item, but they can't do anything about it because the rest of the item was already delivered. Even the manager said there was nothing he could do about. No order, no refund, in America???? How can a restaurant take my money, don't give me the food, don't refund my money and tell me there's nothing they can do about it? I wished I had placed my order on door dash, at least they would have refunded my money. They did not call me to notify me that they did not have the item. I had to call them before they acknowledged that they did not have it. The food that was delivered tastes like something I wouldn't feed to a pig.In addition to the delivery fee, they tacked on a mandatory 20% tip for the driver. I honestly would have cancelled my order if they had told me they did not have everything I ordered. I am taking this up with my credit card. This is definitely not how you do business. I've had deliveries where an item was missing and upon notifying the restaurant, they brought the missing item. This restaurant is fraudulent!!!!!!!I will also be reaching out to the Better Business Bureau. If they have done the same to you, please report them. This is not right!!!!

Spotted this place recently and decided to check it out. Glad we did! The food itself is very unique (in the Baltimore area at least). I have eaten Senegalese and Ethiopian food, but Nigerian food was new to me. We ordered the beef suya and efo riro - both delicious and unlike anything we've eaten before. Staff were helpful in navigating us through the menu options, which you order through a touchscreen at the counter. Other dishes looked very interesting too - I am eager to return to try more of the menu.If you are an adventurous eater looking to try something delicious and new, then I highly recommend!
