The food is awesome. I've had the jollof rice, fries and the star of the show the Beef Suya. My goodness the beef Suya is everything it needs to be. Tender, flavorful, seasoned to perfection. Nice location but this spot needs to be in the city or maybe in Belair or Towson where a lot of traffic is so people can get there as they are in a more remote area. If you like Suya this is your place. Spice level is awesome if you ask for mild. Haven't had spicy but the mild has kick. I've tried the egusi and I believe okra soup both was pretty good as well. My preference was the soup. They offer specials as well. Kinda expensive but the food is amazing. Went there recently and no one was there. What happened!?

Everything was delicious. We've eaten at several Suya and West African spots in the DMV and this is by far one of our favorites! All fresh, never frozen. Lakisha is a top tier hostess and server! Two of us dining have had these dishes in Nigeria (Yourbaland) and approve! Amazing fresh drinks as well! Great prices, fast service and a great atmosphere! I pray Olodumare (God) blesses this restaurant and all the kind folks that work there.

Had lunch here for the first time today. I am not familiar with African cuisine, and our server Lakisha was very generous with her time and explained the entire menu including what makes suya so special and unique. She provided a sample of the suya beef, which just came off the grill and it was amazing! I had the Shawarma Suya beef wrap and it warmed my soul! The beef was so tender and the sauce was like nothing I've ever had before. I can't wait to go back and try more new items. The location was a former sports bar and they've done a beautiful job of remodeling it to be later and brighter and very welcoming.

I dined in last weekend and the food and service were great. I had the tilapia and it was very flavorful! The bartender is experienced and makes very good cocktails. I recommend a "Sex on the Beach." They have a separate room with a DJ, which was nice to step into after eating for a little dancing. If you want to eat good authentic African food or just enjoy a good drink and music, Suya Republic is the place.

We've been there four times--Suya is one our favorite "go to" restaurants in the area. Food is very good and the staff is outstanding. Lots on the menu to satisfy both the adventurous eater and the more traditional eater. Go there--you will not be disappointed!

This place is great. Never had African cuisine before, and it is a memorable tastebud adventure. Start slowly by trusting your instincts and going for things that sound familiar (the spicy chicken wings are kick-butt delicious--I especially like the honey lemon pepper). Then try the chicken suya and beef suya. Make sure you have lots of beer and water on hand--those dishes will test your spice-tolerance manhood! I mostly eat fish these days, so I order the grilled Tilapia. The spice rub on the Tilapia was really good--not something familar to me, but something I'm going to try and copy on other things I cook on the grill at home. The shwarma salad was among my favorite things. It's kind of like a fresh vinegar coleslaw--crisp and crunchy and perfect for a summer meal. And the staff is absolutely amazing. Sweet warm, and welcoming. We were treated like we were guests at someone's holiday dinner. We're coming back, and we're bringing our friends.

Food was disgusting! Ordered the grilled turkey and not sure what we actually received. Doesn't look like any piece of turkey I've ever seen, tasted worse than it looks! All bone, not sure which bone, skin and no meat. Won't ever be back.

This restaurant is located in Perryville, MD. When I go to a restaurant, I tip because of the service I receive and not the food because I expect good food. The customer service was great, so I left a good tip. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is nicely decorated. However, the food was so disappointing. They were out of a lot of menu items. Which surprised me because it was a Saturday evening and a popular night for date night. I went to the restaurant because I saw on Facebook that they served Egusi and FuFu. When I ordered it, they told me that they were out of FuFu! I was so disappointed, so they offered me an alternative (I think it was Eba, but I'm not sure). The alternative looked like FuFu but it wasn't and tasted bland and a little bitter. I ordered goat to go with my Egusi and while I was eating my goat (that had more bones than meat), I tasted pieces of fish (with a fish bone!) and my appetite was gone after that. It was terrible. My husband ordered the Chicken Suya and it was driest chicken I ever tasted. There was not even a teaspoon of moisture in that chicken. The bill was pricey for bad food, but we wanted to support this local restaurant. Too bad the food was terrible. They need a new chef. This place has a lot of potential.
