Craving poke bowl for lunch in Upper Marlboro and this was the closest spot. I heard about The Spot from Yelp and decided to check it out. Inside it is decorated like a mall food court with some video games to give it an old school look.I ordered on the kiosk a custom poke bowl with spicy tuna and salmon and all the fix-ins. LOL just brown rice with kimchi, salad, mango and pineapple. My bowl was ready for me a few minutes past the quoted time. The staff were friendly and hardworking, but the poke was underwhelming. The tuna was flaked, but the salmon was cut in long strips. Also the pineapple was canned not fresh.Overall I would try other vendors at The Spot before ordering from Sushi Monsta again.

UPDATE: One MINOR complaint. I have NOT been able to catch the bar open! WITW? In their defense, maybe it's a weekend only bar and I have only been there during the week.

Easy to order. They have a digital kiosk and the menu posted. The staff was running from front to back, checking on orders. Have multiple food options ranging from sushi, Ramen, combo boxes and build your own burrito and bowls. Opted just got some wdamame since I ordered dinner from another spot but plan to come back and try their sushi and Ramen.

Sushi Monsta spicy tuna roll was overall really good. I wish I had a longer review, but with sushi, it's either good or bad, and this place had good sushi. The portion was good, but the price was a tad on the higher end for this sushi type. Yet, this is one of the few places in the Camp Springs area where you can get decent sushi that isn't from a grocery store. This roll wasn't bland, and it tasted fresh. I enjoyed it. If you are in the area, stop in and give them a shot. I will surely return to try some specialty rolls that they had.

This review has the full menu with prices (see photos) and a detailed description of 4 dishes. Orders are placed in a kiosk, at the cash register, or online. Use "the spot" app for online orders. Make sure to pick the correct location before ordering. There is a " The Spot Food Hall" in Rockville, MD. They have signs telling customers to use the kiosk. Special orders are handled at the register. Here are the 4 dishes that were ordered:1) The Seaweed Salad had a well-balanced flavor of sugar, salt, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. The texture was slightly crunchy, which was just right. My wife and I enjoyed it. Soy sauce instead of salt would make this more flavorful and better tasting.2) The Fried Pork Roll sushi had crispy pork and avocado with a bit of spicy mayo between them. They were wrapped in 2 layers of nori and rice. The pork was a little dry and slightly chewy. It had a good fried flavor. It reminded me of tempura pork. They had wasabi in packets. You have to request it. Overall, this sushi was good tasting, especially when a little wasabi and soy sauce were added. 3) The Tan Tan Men noodle dish hadspicy sesame flavored soup with fish cakes, boiled egg, scallions, corn, bamboo shoots, and roasted seaweed. You get a choice of spicy ground meat, chicken thigh, or chashu pork. We chose chashu pork. The noodle choices are ramen or udon. We chose ramen noodles. The broth was moderately spicy and nicely balanced in flavor. It had flavors of soy sauce, sesame, sugar, rice vinegar, chicken broth, and red chile. Everything was cooked well. Chashu pork is pork belly braised in a sweet soy sauce based broth. It was tender and somewhat moist. My only complaint is that it had only 4 pieces of pork. 4) Their poké bowl menu had a good variety of choices. 5 bases (rice, noodles, or salad), 13 mix-ins, 14 proteins, 8 sauces, and 6 toppings. All proteins cost extra. We got the Seared Salmon bowl with all the mix-ins except jalapeños, pickled ginger, and pineapple. We chose roasted sesame sauce and wasabi yuzu sauce. We got all 6 toppings. They were fried onions, fried garlic, sesame seed, furikake, bonito flakes, and shredded seaweed. We went home and poured everything into a large bowl and thoroughly mixed it. It was incredibly flavorful and a harmonious blend of umami flavors. The seared salmon was moist and tender with a decent flavor (no grill flavor, though). There wasn't a lot of salmon. This was a lot of food and worth the price. It can get pricey if you put a lot of protein in it. FYI: furikake is a dry condiment that typically consists of a mixture of dried fish, sesame seeds, chopped seaweed, sugar, salt, and monosodium glutamate. Bonito flakes are smoked, fermented, and dried fish fillets that are shaved into thin flakes. The service was polite, relatively quick, and patient. The restrooms and dining room were clean. Seating is plentiful because they're in a food court. There's no outdoor seating. They're located in a shopping center called Restaurant Row Apollo. Parking is plentiful and free. This eatery is in an upper middle class area and is easy to access. There are 5 other eateries in the food hall. But, if you're in the mood for Japanese food, then this is the place. Their sushi was typical, but the bowl and ramen were good. Those are the dishes I would recommend.

The sushi was great and a nice amount for the price. It was fresh and we will definitely try them again. Next time when I visit I would like to order with a Luce person or atleast be greeted by a live person instead of trying to figure out how to order for about 5 mins. I think when visiting these food halls they have to remember everyone's not tech savvy and or they just don't like using the tech. We did wait a great time for our food. We had to ask for it and it was another three minutes until someone bought it to us. This place is located inside of a food hall which is always clean. I give them a 3.5/5 due to no really interaction with the workers.

This sushi spot is located in the new spot food hall in Suitland/Camp Springs. I've ordered from here a few times mostly getting their bowls. The food is good. The service is OK- not rude, but not quite friendly either. Additionally, I don't like having to wait in line to get my pick up order. For that I wouldn't have called it in for pick up and waited to get there to order. However, I've never had a problem with the quality of items in my bowl. Noting that, two of the times that I ordered they messed my order up, meaning I didn't get everything I added to my bowl which intern changes-sometimes significantly-the flavor I was looking for. It wasn't bad either of the times, but it wasn't what I wanted or what I paid for. However, I will keep ordering from here. They have some of the better quality Poké bowls in the area ( I'm in upper Marboro and drive approximately 15 to 20 minutes to pick up).

The food was horrible. Worst sushi and ramen I've ever had. I threw everything away. I don't know how it has so many good reviews.

Sushi was a little bland. The rice did not seem seasoned, and that makes a big difference. Made me want to go to another restaurant to satisfy my taste for good sushi.
